failing that i have no doubt they will be back in the summer to play a couple of stadium gigs. wembley fingers crossed:D ________ Vaporizer Vs Smoking |
Seeing them in Sheffield on 12th November. Looking forward to it very much, but still not too sure about the new album.
|
Will, really? I think the new album is a pretty solid one and I like it waaaay better than In Your Honor.
|
i have to agree. In your Honour would have been much better if they just got the best off the 2 albums and put it on one. the material was stretched a bit too thin i think.
Echoes, silence patience and grace is a grower. you definately have to give it time. i have just had it playing in my car solidly for the past couple of weeks gearing up for the gig and i have fallen in love with it. ________ bondage girl Cams |
best gig ever. amazing setlist, great performance, great atmosphere.
serj tankian was the worst support ever...but anyway the foos more than made up for it. they could show bon jovi a thing or two... 1) about 1/2 way into the show a circular stage descended from the ceiling in the middle of the arena, with all the kit on it and the band played some acoustic songs from there, so people at the back could see them close up. brilliant idea. 2) in the encore Dave Grohl just said - **** it this bits for our fun not yours- and they played songs that they wanted to play, rare songs that they don't play as much. exactly what an encore should be. and it blatantly was for our fun! amazing :D 3) now the foos also have a fiddle woman and a couple of extra players on this tour, not unlike bon jovi. but as soon as the acoustic bit was over and Dave started Everlong they all buggered off just leaving the proper band. thats how bon jovi should do it, get them off stage ASAP. ________ Classaction settlements |
Saw them in manchester and they were amazing, really engaging and had a great stage presence, and every song sounded fantastic!

Ooo, I'm excited for Monday now!
I've given the album some time and I have to say it's a lot better than I originally thought. There's a sense of Colour and Shape in it, I believe. |
Quote:
and i agree about the colour and the shape comment. they are definately back on track musically. not that in your honour was less than great... i mean look at the singles! just it was a little too long, so the greatness was diluted.... ok rambling now! lol wish i was going to see them again....but i spent all my money on bon jovi now :) ________ Storz & bickel |
I didn't think In Your Honour was as bad as people made out. Ok there were some pretty average tracks and some people couldn't cope with the two disc idea but there were some very good songs there on both CDs. Razor and On The Mend were almost worth the whole of that second disc alone.

The gig last night in Sheffield was class! I've come to the conclusion that Dave Grohl is a living legend. How the hell does he keep up that energy night after night (they came on at 8.45 and didn't leave the stage til 11.00!)? My throat hurt from shouting along, don't know how he manages it. I could tell by the last song his voice had just about done as much as it could. Also, the acoustic set mid way was cool and obviously gave him a bit of a rest.
Here's the set list I got from the official message board. Let It Die The Pretender Times Like These Breakout Long Road To Ruin Learn To Fly Cheer Up, Boys (Your Make Up Is Running) DOA Stacked Actors Skin And Bones (acoustic) Marigold (acoustic) My Hero (acoustic) Cold Day In The Sun (acoustic - Taylor on lead vocals) But, Honestly (acoustic) Everlong Monkey Wrench All My Life Wattershed Holiday In Cambodia (with Serj Tankian) Generator Keep The Car Running Best Of You |
glad you enjoyed it!
|
aww you got the Arcade fire cover! (keep the car running) nice! oh well i got 'Alone and easy target' in that slot which ain't to shabby.
Dave Grohl is just a god isn't he? he screams the lyrics every night (in a good way)...and then he gets to the acoustic section and his voice is just as good this way, more quiet. and then there are his guitar skills! did they do the big Guitar and Drum solos is 'stacked actors'? this is the kind of thing in a rock gig i live for. i don't care if people just think it's guitar player wankery, i think it's great. |

Was at the O2 gig last night (Saturrday). Excellent gig, Grohl in fine voice on for almost 3 hours.
Thought Serj Tankian was pants to be honest, but the Foos blew me away and great set full of energy. Special guests Brian May & Roger Taylor joined them on the acoustic stage for 1 song, and was chuffed to hear For All The Cows in the encore. Excellent! |
Man i wish they could come to Dubai.... I so want to see them live :(
|
Foos for Wembley next summer....same date as Jovi in Dublin though! meh :(

|
got my tickets to wembley in the presale this morning....what with bon jovi gigs too june is going to be a hell of a month :)
|
looks like ill have to wait until tomorrow... unless i want a seat on see
|
sold out in 11 minutes :o wow!
and then the second date they announced (which is the day before...bon jovi take note!) there is only seating left! |
Quote:
i wouldn't call them a pop band, if Foo Fighters are pop then Bon Jovi (post 2000) are like bubblegum pop or something like like tweenies doing a single, but there you go. i know someone else who only likes stacked actors too...funny that. the first album would probably agree with you the most... |

He is the God of those who cannot sing. His "voice" is absolutely terrible he screams instead of singing. They have a few decent tunes but this guy destroys them with his shitty vocals. Also the songs on their albums can be changed any time - each one sounds quite the same no variety at all. But what can one expect of a band with members from a group that destroyed the music with Nirvana. As a big Queen Fan I cannot unterstand why either Roger Taylor and Brian May are fans of them. They even played with them (again) at the O2 Gig last week. Absoluteley one of the most overrated bands . Get another singer and it might get better. Grohl is drop dead awful! |
Quote:
I've picked out some live recordings if you can bear to listen... Try Razor: Or Home from their new album: Or On the Mend: |
Well this three are "ok" but theyre all slow acoustic driven songs. The "Rock" tunes he is smashing to pieces with his awful screaming.
Freddie and Grohl are worlds apart! |
