Think they have been superior all the time. Compare "Hysteria" (DL biggest record) with "Slippery" (BJ biggest record). WHile they are both great Hysteria was a revolution production-wise and superior of Slippery. The only thing BJ were better are marketing and having a good management. That's what DL is lacking.

There doesn't seem to be that marked a difference between Jon and Joe right there, stage wise.
