Bon Jovi setlists..
I know there's alot of bashing of Bon Jovi setlists that goes on here, some of it rightly so, some not. Now I think that's always gonna happen when you have a band with as many songs as Jovi, but stepping out of the die hard mode for a minute here, Jovi actually vary their setlist more than alot of other artists. The reason I bring this up is that along with these boards, I also frequent a Billy Joel message board. Now, Billy just started the fall leg of his "My Lives" tour (it's been going in different legs from 2005). Anyway, take a look at the setlists ( http://www.joelfan.com/setlists/csNe...sc=n&pt=t&gc=y ) from this tour (and every Joel tour from about 1998) and you'll see such little hange, it maked Jovi look like ****ing Springsteen. Now, Billy has MORE songs (and not even only rarities, hits for ****'s sake). And it's not only Billy Joel, but his is the only other site I'm on. Now, I'm not trying to excuse the band, I'm really really not. I just don't think there setlists are as bad or unchanging as some people make them out to be.

God - you're up as early as I am :D
I agree. I think the board's problem with the Bon Jovi setlists is that there are songs that many of us think are much better than those getting played. If they played Hey God, or Something to Believe In once in a while it would please many of us. I know I'm not getting the original Always again though - damnit. With all the extra people on stage - and some decent extra voices - imagine Drift Away again - oh yeah. |
Well if that's your point; fine. In my opinion they are playing way too many staples and Post 2000 songs. They are forgetting the These Days/Keep The Faith era (almost) completely.
Almost every song from the eighties and nineties are better than the post 2000 songs! But Jon cannot sing the old songs properly anymore, I'd rather hear a new song than an old song played TLFR style. And the fiddle and steelguitar player and Bobby should go and find a new job, bring the old Jovi back! |

Just got home from work. Anyway, there are alot of problems with Jovi setlists, and alot of songs I wish they'd play, but it just pisses me off sometimes. But, I was alose mainly pissed because I just read the first set of Billy's tour, and it was exactly the same as EVERY show he's done this year. It's just frustrating. Like, as much as many of the Pru shows have been derided, Jovi have played what, 35/40 something songs already. Joel has only played about 60 diff songs TOTAL in the last four years. |

Fine. Here are the setlists from Pearl Jam: http://www.pearljam.com/tour/shows.php Black Crowes: http://www.crowesbase.com/taperesults.cfm Eric Clapton: http://www.ectours.de There you go. I know that with Clapton his set doesn't change a lot during the tour, but compare it to a tour before. So take into consideration that although many bands do not chance their set at all during the tour, their set does chance from tour to tour. With Bon Jovi, the sad thing is that you can predict all the staples. Every single one of them. This is something you can not do with Paul McCartney, Oasis, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, and the list goes on and on and on. When those bands go on tour, it's a surprise which hit they will play. Clapton does not play Tears In Heaven every tour. Oasis doesn't play Wonderwall every tour. Bruce Springsteen doesn't play Born In The USA every tour. Bon Jovi plays all their hits every tour, and includes the same album cuts every tour as well. If Bon Jovi would really do a major overhaul in their sets, and would make a set on which more than half of the set hasn't been played the past tour, then there's the ability to talk about a change. Not if the same staples are played in a different order. That's called laziness. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |
I agree with you on everyone except Sir Paul.
His setlists are pretty stagnent on the last few tours. And again, I know Bon Jovi are far from great at altering their setlists and there are alot of bands who do it better. There are also alot of people who are lazier than they are. |
