Songs Richie, Dave, Tico, Alec and Hugh have sung live
In the early days Jon was pretty stingy with the lead vocals chores, through the 80s there were very few times that anybody else sang a lead part except the Richie bit in "Wanted".
Even today it's pretty much a rarity for anybody But Jon to sing. I was intriqued by a few threads here about what and when the others members had sung so after a little research here are a few notable exceptions to the Jon sings everything rule: It's especially interesting to note how many tunes Richie has played live in less than 2 dozen solo concerts total. 1.) First played live in concert on November 7th, 1986 and a nice part of shows thoughout the later 86 and 87 tours and popping up again briefly for a few UK shows in 1993 was the crowd favorite (usually a ca pella) "Drift Away", Richie sings a verse of this and many live versions are available. 2.) Richie and Alec each sang an ad lib verse in the extended version of "Blood on Blood" played live a few times in July of 1989, sadly I have never heard a live recording of this version though I heard it in person and still remember 18 years later. 3.) Richie did his first solo promo show for his first album "Stranger in this Town" on August 28th, 1991 in NY, playing "Stranger" and the hit he wrote with Cher "We All Sleep Alone", no known recording. 4.) Richie started an 11 city solo tour of the USA on November 11th, 1991 and closed the tour on the 1st of December. At the 1st annual x-mas show that year Jon didn't allow RIchie to do any songs from Stranger though Jon did "Blaze" from what he still claimed wasn't a solo album of the same name. Richie's self financed tour covered a large number of songs including: Church Of Desire, Bad Medicine, We All Sleep Alone, Father Time, River Of Love, Stranger In This Town, I'll Be There For You, Rosie, Midnight Rider, Wanted Dead Or Alive, The Answer, One Light Burning, With A Little Help From My Friends, Mr. Bluesman, Ballad of Youth, Rest in Peace, Sweet Home Chicago, and a very cool nightly jam session, several recordings of this tour exist. 5.) At the annual x-mas show in 1993 Richie, Dave and Tico each sang lead at a Bon Jovi concert for the first time on Stranger in this Town, Let it Bleed, and Waltzing Matilda respectively, recordings exist of this show. 6.) In 1994 Bon Jovi did a 6 date X-mas mini tour. On the 2nd and 3rd nights Richie sang "Stranger" and "The Answer" with Dave doing "Let it Bleed". On the 4th night they dropped "Answer". On the final night Richie did "Stranger" and Tico sang "Waltzing", recordings exist from 5 of the 6 dates. 7.) Richie regularly did "Stranger" through May of the 95 tour and then a few more dates in June and July of 95, many recording exist. 8.) 12/21/95 was a landslide of non-Jon singing. At this x-mas show Richie sang "Heaven Help us All", Tico sang "Crazy", Hugh sang "Walking the Dog" and Dave sang "Tumblin' Dice " and "This Time", some of this was officially released and amateur recordings exist as well. 9.) "Stranger" and "Drift Away" returned briefly to the setlist in mid 1996, plenty of recordings. 10.) "Crazy" and "Tumblin Dice" rejoined "Stranger" on 7/19/96 as a warm up for the x-mas show that year. 11.) X-mas 96 - "Texas Rain" by Dave, I'll Be There For You" sung by Richie, "All Over Now" sung by Hugh, "The Chanukah Song" sung by DAve, and "It's a Wonderful World" sung by Tico, recordings exist. 12.) On February 97 Richie played an acoustic version of "Falling From Graceland" as the beginning of promo for his upcoming second album, Undiscovered Soul. 13.) Richie debuts an acoustic portion of a song he wrote for his new bride Heather Locklear "All That Really Matters" on a TV special about her, July 27th, recordings exist. 14.) "Hard Times Come Easy" at a charity gig with many NJ bands January 24, 1998. 15.) Richie continues Promo stuff playing a bevy of songs live at radio interviews, many recordings exist including: "Hard Times Come Easy, Fallen From Graceland, Made In America, In It For Love ", Livin' On A Prayer, Wanted Dead Or Alive, All That Really Matters, Fallen / Call Me Back Again, I'll Be There For You, Stranger In This Town, The Answer". 16.) May 24th saw Richie do a one off acoustic solo show in Pennsylvania before setting off for Japan and the UK for his tour. Very nice recordings exist - Made In America, Fallen From Graceland, Prayer '94, In It For Love, Midnight Rider, Wanted Dead Or Alive, Hard Times Come Easy 17.) Richie played solo 5 nights in Japan, 5 nights in Australia, 3 nights in Germany, 1 night in Holland and 3 nights in the UK, most recordings exist he played a ton of songs including: "Made In America, Bad Medicine, Fallen From Graceland, Stranger In This Town, If God Was A Woman, In It For Love, I'll Be There For You, Father Time, Who I Am, Hard Times Come Easy, Livin' On A Prayer (acoustic), Undiscovered Soul, Midnight Rider/Wanted Dead Or Alive, With A Little Help From My Friends, Get Back, All That Really Matters, I Should Have Known Better, Never Say Goodbye, A Hard Days Night, The Answer, Signed Sealed Delivered, I Shot The Sheriff, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, You Never Give Me Your Money, The End, All Along The Watch Tower, Shooting Star, I Shot The Sheriff/I Come From the Land Down, Blowing in the Wind, Papa Was A Rolling Stone, Ballad of Youth (acoustic), Don't Be Cruel, Feel Like Making Love, All Right Now, Rosie (acoustic), Hide Your Love Away, Can't Find My Way Home, Don't Give Up - 41 different tunes in all. 18.) In June of 2001 Richie opened the encore in Padova, Italy with "Stranger" and it was played from July 13th through the end of the tour pretty regularly. 19.) Mid January in 03 saw Richie take over lead vocla duties on "I'll be There For You" and continue thru most performances of 03. 20.) June 17th, 2003 Dave sings 2 verses of "In These Arms" 21.) February of '06 brings Richie back to "IBTFY" for any nights on the tour when they do an electric version of the song. 22.) At the 10 Prudential shows in 2007 Richie sings "These Days" most nights and "Stranger" once. Dave |

I knew most of those songs have been performed (no idea how you knew all the dates though!) but I did not know Hugh has sang solo before! Now that is interesting
