Don't really know about the last one, but I suppose the first two are to try and avoid spammers.

I agree it is really upsetting for there to be the need for 10 characters before posting, it didnt used to be like that.. I end up having to write more than I want to....

Also, sometimes a simple YES, NO or **** YOU says a lot more then + 10 characters

I think the mods must be able to write whatever, as Goose is often a man of few words and usually just leaves a smilie face, which us common lowly people are not able to do ):

you have to type them, if you look at 'more' you can see what you have to type in order to get them,

for example

Spammers count on being able to flood boards fairly quickly. Cut their potential speed and you look less attractive.

There are people assigned to get rid of the mess and to keep the board clean, why hassle the normal members with it.

If you were one of the people who cleaned it up, you wouldn't be asking.
