We got Meeting Across the River right into Jungleland. My god - what a show. The electricity in the garden was high voltage.

Last night we got Backstreets. I got Incident in New Jersey - doesn't get much better than that :)

I FREAKED out like you wouldn't believe..
When they played "Meeting..." part of me suspected that Jungleland was coming, but I didn't believe it until it started....I BLEW my voice out on "The rangers had a homecoming in Harlem late last night"......Simply an amazing show. I met up with friends afterwards who'd been at The Nightwish show at the Nokia, and I told them it was a religious experience...I'm actually writing a whole blog about it, that I'll post here when it's done.....Just wow.

My afformentioned blog on the concert:

Bruce F’N Springsteen and The E Street F’N Band...

To whip out a tired cliched statement, there is a reason Bruce Springsteen is called the Boss. After seeing last night's (10/18/07) show at the Garden, I defy anyone to come in and tell me differently. The show kicked off with Radio Nowhere, which sounds better live than it does on Magic, and tore through countless Springsteen classics such as Lonesome Day, Reason To Believe, She's The One, and The Promised Land, mixed with new cuts like Magic, Gypsy Biker, and the brilliant Livin In The Future in the show's first half. However, it was at this point (after the Tunnel of Love cut Tougher Than The Rest) that this show changed for me from a simple rock concert to a full on religious experience.
Springsteen dedicated two songs to the late actor Peter Boyle (Young Frankenstein FTW) Anyway, The band played Meeting Across The River, which is a great song in it's own right, but more importantly to me it's the album lead in to my all time favorite Springsteen song: Jungleland. Now, Jungleland had yet to be played on this tour, and I was nervous I wouldn't get to hear it, but sure enough after Meeting'..ended, Jungleland began..and I utterly lost my mind. I accidently elbowed the guy next to me..lol. And I totlally blew out my voice singing the song's first line "Well the rangers had a homecoming in Harlem late last night.." Truly an amazing song, everything I ever expected from it was blown away. Now, at this point the rest of the show could've been "Bruce sings Britney Spears" and I wouls've been satisfied, but it just kept getting better. Several other great songs rounded out the main set, including The Rising, Last to Die, and Long Walk Home. These all lead into a tremendous main set closer of Badlands, and following that a great encore call which consisted soley of the audience reaction calls from Badlands. The encore was great. Girls in Thier Summer Clothes, and the Classic Thundercrack were good, but the real fun began with a kickass Born To Run and an electrified Dancing In The Dark done with the Garden's houselights turned totally on. The show ended with a kickass American Land, with E Street members, and memebers of Springsteen's "Sessions Band." Just an amazing show. There is a very simple reason why people say Springstten and his band out on the best live show in rock. The reason being, it's true.

asok80 10-19-2007 01:02 PM

AMEN to that!

Kev 10-19-2007 06:45 PM

Damn, Gutted I missed Jungleland! :( Congrats for those who heard it!

asok80 10-19-2007 06:51 PM

Listening to it right now. What a feeling it must have been being there. Hope he plays it in London. :-)

Kev 10-19-2007 10:24 PM

Well - including ours there are 4 recordings from last night (so far). Three are up on dime and mine will be soon. And I know the guy behind us was recording too. We Bruce fans are so spoiled - when these are mixed from different parts of the arena the sound will acquire a nice depth and seperation.

As the one guy on dime put it - the next thing up is we bootleggers will be streaming audio from directly from the concert LOL.

I only wish more people would record the Bon Jovi concerts.

There's a small clip of the MSG concert, parts of 4 songs. Sounds pretty good.

asok80 10-21-2007 05:58 PM

Hey Thierry, I just got tix for Arnhem. Do you know if there's a train going from Elst to the arena? Read somewhere that there should be but can't find any info.

Bruce Springsteen - New Album & Live

So tickets for Bruce and the E-Street Band's Irish date go on sale tomorrow morning. I have been strongly considering going but with the Lost Highway tour and Christmas, funds aren't great at the moment.

I was just wondering have many of you seen them live and do they put on a good show i.e. is it worth maxing out my credit card? All thoughts will be appreciated.

Kathleen 11-27-2007 12:47 PM

It's worth maxing out any credit card you have - or even bumming money from friends. Bruce and the E St Band put on one of the best shows anywhere - ever. This is also probably the last tour of the original band so see them while you can.

You would do yourself a favor though to familiarize youself with some of the music before you go. Some of his older stuff is long and involved and the words should be read so that you know what he is talking about. You'll enjoy it live more if you understand it - though it's not required. I've been a fan of his for 35 years and I have dragged many Bruce virgins to concerts. Most have them have come home with stars in their eyes.

Murph Daddy 11-27-2007 01:10 PM

Cheers you're after selling it to me. Ye all i have is the greatest hits, the rising and devils and dust and I'm looking the tracks from Magic I'm hearing on the radio.

Have you any pointers on what old albums to pick up? 23 albums, I wouldn't know where to start!

Kathleen 11-27-2007 01:25 PM

I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone. Bruce's older albums don't sound especially good - only Born to Run has been completely remastered - and only very recently. The first thing you should so is listen to the live stuff - and there are several official live albums out there with great sound.

1. Live in New York City (from 2000 - a 20 night stand at Madison Square Garden). This is available in both audio and video. It's old enought that you can pick up a DVD cheaply and get blown away by the end of the reunion tour.

2. Live 1975-1985 A 3 CD set that showcases most of the best stuff live up to that point.

3. Live in Barcelona - DVD only from the Rising tour in 2002.

4. Born to Run 30th Anniversary 3 disc set (1 CD & 2 DVD) Good description here:

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - Born To Run: 30th Anniversary... BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - Born To Run: 30th Anniversary...
This last one is the one to get as an official studio album - Born to Run - and the DVD is from the 1975 Hammersmith Odeon show which is incredible.

And last but not least - don't confuse Bruce's solo stuff with his work with the E Street Band. They can be two very different things. I love him with the E Street Band as a rocker - the solo albums are a mixed bag for me. The best of them in my opinion is Nebraska - most of which he re-worked and played with the E Street Band later on.

Keeper 11-27-2007 01:57 PM

I have just moved this from the Tour Discussion forum, seeing as that one is for Bon Jovi-related tour discussions.

Murph Daddy 11-27-2007 02:12 PM

Great stuff Kathleen, thats a big help, you're clearly a big fan. First things first, have to hit ticketmaster at ten to 9 tomorrow, his shows generally sellout in 5 minutes.

asok80 11-27-2007 02:27 PM

Especially as it's start of the summer tour AND it's in Ireland, I say go for it!! Those shows usually tend to be special. Otherwise I can just concur with what Kathleen's said.
:-)

I don't know about a presale but I can sympathize with the expensive part. I just got over a pile of concerts for both bands here. When they tour at the same time it breaks the bank at my house. However with this being the last E Street Band tour - I decided to go to as many shows as I could get to easily.

asok80 11-27-2007 03:40 PM

Same here. It's madness with both bands touring at the same time, but oh so much fun too.

Don't there was any pre-sale for these tix. Tix go on sale tomorrow at 9 GMT.

What are the tour dates/locations/venues?

Google is your friend.

asok80 11-27-2007 06:06 PM

Just a few summer dates have been official as yet. 22 May in Dublin (start of the tour) 19 July in Barcelona (end of summer tour). 22 June in Italy (can't remember the city right now sorry!) and rumour has it 5-6 July in Gothenburg Sweden. I think we will have an official announcement of the other tour dates in a couple of weeks.

Based on past tours, expect 3-4 UK stadium shows in the summer - the Rising tour took in Crystal Palace for two nights, Old Trafford Cricket Ground and I think one Scottish show.

Expect London to sell out in a flash and tickets to hang around for a while up norf.

Expect tickets to be £55.

Kev 11-27-2007 08:06 PM

Awesome. If a Manchester show is announced and it aint too close to BJ, then Ill be there :)

They played Manchester in 2003 so they might again.

Jonny Sambora 11-27-2007 08:29 PM

They are playing in Belfast (N.Ireland) on 15th December. The tickets sold out back in september in about 30 seconds, but my fiancee told me last night she got 2!!! She was trying to hold out until the day of the gig before telling me but as I have an Xmas party the night before the gig she does'nt want me getting too drunk that I would have an awful hangover so she told me. I have wanted to see Bruce with the E street band for sooo long....my parents saw him at Slane back in '85 and now I cant wait to finally see him and the band in concert. What an xmas present!!!!

Mongoose 11-27-2007 08:42 PM

I thought it was one show at the o2 at that was it for the UK?!

Hehe, I will stick to my NY dvd for now :D

asok80 11-27-2007 10:44 PM

For the fall tour yes, but then they'll do a spring tour in US and then a summer tour of Europe.

asok80 11-27-2007 10:50 PM

16/6 Düsseldorf
21/6 Hamburg
25/6 Milano
27/6 Paris

Ending 19/7 at Camp Neu in Barcelona

Sambo-Chris 11-27-2007 11:16 PM

Why do BJ and Bruce ALWAYS tour at the same time Arrgghh.

I'll see them in Düsseldorf though, ticket is already booked. When they are in Hamburg, which is nearer to me, I'll be in Glasgow for BJ.

**** me, that will be one hell of an ending show there, at such a huge Stadium. Then back home to Giants?

asok80 11-28-2007 10:23 AM

Probably Kev yes.

Living_on_my_Hair 11-28-2007 11:22 AM

****ing 'ell

Talk about drama getting tickets. Signed on at 8.55, kept refreshing up to 9.02 on 2 windows, only then to be told there a 15 (!) min waiting time, then AFTER that runs out only to be told that i'm not allowed two windows open at the same time anymore! Then told it was sold out.....

THEN...by chance, I noticed a second date up for sale! TM or Bruce website had said nothing about a second date, so I was quite lucky to be probably one of the first people to notice that.

Hopefully not like this 2mrw for Punchestown!
