Bon Jovi: 'We Don't Need Success'
20 December 2007
Bon Jovi: 'We Don't Need Success' Jon Bon Jovi is so content with making new albums and touring that he doesn't need chart success to make him happy. The Bon Jovi rocker admits the band will never be as popular as they were in their 1980s heyday, but they don't care as long as they can continue to make a living out of music. He says, "It's not about having to prove anything any more. I think we feel that less and less with each album - we know what we've achieved." The 45-year-old also insists it is important to keep coming up with new and original material - which is why the band opted for a country influence on their latest album Lost Highway, which was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee and features a duet with LeAnn Rimes. He adds, "It's important we experiment. Without experimentation there wouldn't be growth, and you risk becoming something of a nostalgia act, trying to repeat past successes." Wait a minute - do I hear an echo in here :p Seems like some of us have been saying the same thing for quite a while now.
Of course - just to play devil's advocate - Jon can say he doesn't care about or need chart success. However both he and Richie were mightily pleased when Lost Highway came in at # 1. |
That's kinda hippocrite remark!!!!!!!! Alone "Make a living outta music" - they should have their money together! LH = Experiment? Are you kidding???????
Experiments are exciting - LH is just lame lame lame! |
The 'experiment' with LH was to see if people would buy it and if the industry would accept it. They measured the ''success'' of that from their No.1 album and the Grammy wins.
so yeah it was an experimentation, just not a creative one and if Jon tries to say it was one more time i think I'll scream. |
well theres nothing wrong with experimenting, i wish they'd just come up with something decent from time to time

I'm just seriously questioning where the actual 'experimentation'' was though, because as far as I'm concerned throwin in a fiddle and steel guitar does not an experimentation make. Furthermore, hasnt Richie been going around saying that it's just a Bon Jovi album with a twang? Clearly they just cant make up their minds what they want this album to be. They like the idea that they can say they experimented because it might just explain away an album that really hasn't survived very well in the charts and has failed internationally. The first rule of thumb with marketing though is to ensure that you maintain consistency in how you sell the product, in essence the album. Self-confessed and self-described marketing GURU Jon Bon Jovi missed the mark on that one and has also forgotten to send out YET ANOTHER memo to Richie on what exacty they are selling this week. |

Hey where do the LH critics come from lately!!!:grab::grab::grab::grab: |
Actually, they need success. Without success, no record deal, no living out of music.

It sounds like once again some online "news" source has taken some comments out of their complete context and stuck them together.
