Do you think richie
gets bored playing the same lead stuff over and over again?
why does he never walk the line? he s been churning out the same licks for 25 years.........in fact the guitar work since these days has been piss poor. these days was amazing but not really the most technically difficult. its like "Richie-SHOW US YOUR CHOPS!" but nahh same boring three string tricks and whammy! arghhh! learn some new licks! |
Man, personally I think it's good that Rich has his own style. If I want to hear some other, well, there are lots of guitarists ;)
I mean, I don't want the King Of Swing to become C. C. DeVille or Mick Mars. And if you want to hear Richie's other technics just listen to This Left Fels Right ;) |

Richie is good, they just write crap music. The fact that he's better alone than with Bon Jovi shows on "Sounds of Wood & Steel Vol2", as well as on the Banger Sisters and On the Line soundtracks. I'm talking post These Days here though. I'd personally never want him to do something he's not. RIchie should never sound like Yngwie or Vai. |
Aloha !
If he'd get rid of that Japanese shit he's using nowadays it'd already be an improvement. Salaam Aleikum, Sebastiaan |
I don't find anything wrong with what Richie's doing - and if you're looking for something different what about the Any Other Day solo.
I agree that a guitarist defines themselves by their sound, and so you can tell them apart from any other guitarist - the two best in my opinion are Slash, obviously, and Tom Morello, and both have very distinctive guitar sounds, and so does Richie. But if you're looking for variation, try listening to some Rage Against The Machine live stuff where Tom Morello basically kicks the shit out of his guitar, making some pretty obscure noises while he's doing it. Anyway, if you listen to more recent bands - nobody does ****ing guitar solo's any more anyway. |

Well, I'm not a guitarist so I don't the in's and out's of it...
but you could be right, maybe he's just making lots of noise cause he doesn't know what else to do with it. In which case, Richie's a better player.... Though, I still like Tom Morello. |
