Why use IEM ?
Bon Jovi never used in ear equipment pre 2000. Looking at the footage I have from 1996 for example, nothing in anyones ears.
Why if those shows and vocals sounded so good do we need the use of them now. Is it because Jon now needs it? I saw this article recently, is this right? Benefits of In-ear Monitoring The benefits of in-ear monitors to the musician and engineer are immediately apparent: better sound, improved stereo imaging, less vocal strain, protection against hearing damage, portability, increased gain before feedback and lowered on-stage volume. I personally don't see any benefit because the vocals sound worst now than before etc? |
i don't think bad vocals are a result of using the earpiece, but i agree, if something worked well in the past why change it.

I don't think the lack of quality in the vocals have anything to do with In Ear Monitors.

Well, loads of other artists use them, including JD Fortune of INXS and he has an awesome voice.
If the point of them is to make the sound better, why do you think they're making the vocals worse? |
