Jon's Health...

Hey Guys...

Plenty has been made on here about Jon's vocals and the fact that they are nothing near what they used to be however has anyone heard whether Jon and the band were sick in Japan?

I saw the video of Jon singing Prayer from Tokyo which was nothing short of terrible. No energy, out of tune, etc etc. However in Canada last month I thought he sounded pretty good from what I saw.

Perhaps he and the band are unwell and that's why the Japan tour and certainly the vocals have been well below expectations...?

Any thoughts...

Cheers
Steve

I saw the clips from tokyo last night and they do seem horrible. The biggest thing for me is the lack of energy. Some substandard vocals can partly be made up for by an energetic performance.

Watching the clip of Richie singin these days, it seems pretty likely that he does have a sore throat/some sort of illness as some parts are shaky, he salvages the performance by puttin his heart and soul into it (something Jon doesnt do in Prayer)

In regards to Prayer, it seems that Jon has been quite motionless singing it for a couple of years now. I remember at MK 2006 he hardly moved either side of the mic during the song. Maybe he's getting bored of it and cant be arsed that much?!

Jon didnt sound as if he was ill in Tokyo (though he may have been), it just sounded like a lazy vocal. However other clips from the tour have sounded better and Prayer (and part of sleep when i'm dead) are the only clips we've seen from the Tokyo shows so far.

I can't imagine Jon not having energy because he can't be bothered. He always seems to be a perfectionist and is not happy when things don't go right. He sounded fine at the Prudential centre both nights I saw him so hopefully its just a blip. He got everybody standing up for prayer so I don't think he's bored of it.

He did sound better at the Pru, and in the Canadian shows. It just seems that when Prayer is at the end of a show he stays still compared to when it opens a show

There's a vid of Livin On A Prayer from Osaka a coupla days after Tokyo..and that sounds worse if anything! somethin seems to be going on and it aint gd watever it is!

about the whole him not movin to much... i think by that time in the gig...the energy the band would have already created would easily carry that song in a live situation without you thinkin there was no energy at all... it was the same at MK 2006...

The Osaka video didn't sound too bad to me. Granted, Jon doesn't move at all during the song, but he hasn't in a few years.

They may have been a little sick but I think people are making way to big a deal based on a few clips. I saw a clip of BTBMB from Toyko #2 and he was moving around and sounded good.

You're being way too over dramatic. It's not that bad.

For once he isnt, I have the feeling most of you just don't see it because it went gently downhill for years and considering they have been ON constantly since 2000, most just don't see it.

If you see a child everyday their growth doesn't appear that much. If you don't see that child for a year, he/she immensly growth. Its the same with Jovi, they were ON constantly and went downhill constantly, just because the gap is missing and it went gentle doesn't mean it didn't went downhill, a lot, every tour (with maybe the exeption of the Bounce tour, wich was more worse then the HAND tour).

Its just plain ignorance not wanting to see that. Sure you can still enjoy their performances, you can't say its what it used to be.

I don't think anyone is saying they're what they used to be. We all know they aren't. Everything you said is true, but very obvious. It's not any different from most other bands.
