jon's voice

i was wondering...is it true that jon gets injected with some kinda medicine for his voice before any concerts? i read on a site, saying that jon damaged his vocals badly in the new jersey tour, so he has to take some kinda stuff b4 shows....thats why he does't sing the chorus of livin on a prayer...cos it;s 2 high for him...

He had problems with his voice during the New Jersey tour but I never heard that he still takes some medicine before the concerts. He has an allergy so he probably always has some medicine because of this with him.

Hey there,
I heard that Jon's manager (or someone, not 100% sure), made him take steroids before concerts, to keep laringitis at bay, and to keep on touring (prolong the tour).

Again, not sure if this is exactly true, but I think it is.

That was certainly true towards the end of the eighties but I doubt it's true anymore.

I know someone who toured with BJ through Europe in 1993 - one of the things he said was that Jon took great care of his voice (hot lemon drinks etc) and went to bed early whilst the rest of the band were the party animals who stayed up all night.

Steroids were used on the NJ tour, since then he has said that he has learned to take care of his voice better and therefore doesnt need them anymore.

I imagine if Jon still had to have daily injections of cortizone for his vocal chords, he would quit. LOL Anyone who's had steroid shots can attest to how painful they are. They do help a lot, but they hurt like hell. I can't imagine having to take them the way Jon did to survive the touring of the late 80's.

Don't forget the nicotine sticks. I'm sure they've done wonders.

Steroid injections are hurt like hell so can't imagine Jon taking many of these any more.

he always has plenty of red stuff available to him during concerts, you can see this on the evening with video, the crush dvd and the shepherds bush concert for example

who knows what it is

its certainly true that after the new jersey tour Jon's voice collapsed :S

BleedinGuitar 12-14-2002 02:22 PM

uhm.....i can't believe that not one single person hasn't stepped in already and stopped this post from continuing with citing the New Jersey tour as the tour where Jon's voice collapsed. It was the Slippery When Wet Tour. The New Jersey tour saw Jon taking a brand new approach to his voice and singing better than ever.

Now it's entirely possible he was taking the shots on the New Jersey tour, but his voice wasn't shot to hell like it was on the Slippery tour. So for the most part this thread has been full of misinformation and speculation.
