Jon falls ill

But the show absolutely must go on. The pope is in the audience and he really needs to hear Bad Medicine.

Who do you call to front the band for one night?

Richie Sambora.

Richie's voice seemed fine in his solo gigs.

If it was a one off concert for the pope, Richie could probably manage it. Let David back him up.

It could be the Pope, the President, and the Prince of Paraguay and they'd still cancel the show. If one of them is seriously ill, the show won't go on. They rescheduled shows in Australia in '94 or '95 because Tico had sprung his wrist. Serious illness can't be predicted to make proper arrangements for a replacement.
