Dave's Vocal Part in Bad Name Pre-Chorus

Hey

Does anybody know, in terms of notes, what Dave sings in the pre-chorus of Bad Name (Live, at least)? Is he singing in unison with Jon? As good as I like to think I am at working out stuff like this, I can't figure it out, no matter how many different live performances I listen to!

No. They sing a 3-part harmony. It's really easy if you know how to sing. I don't have the exact notes here, but I coudl sing it to you. :)

Dave does the highs, in terms of the harmonising, doesn't he?

No Hugh usually does the high (falsetto) parts, Dave does the '3rd part' harmony as I like to call it; the hardest to sing with 2 or more other parts going on. Personally I think this contributes to his great abilities as a musician.

Hugh always sings the lowest part. Alec used to sing the ridiculously high parts, but no one does those anymore. Hugh sings the lowest, Richie the middle part (about a 3rd over Jon) and Dave the highest, or then he just doubles Richies lines.

Dave covers the **** out of Jon on just about every song live.

Yeah, good point. Although his voice doesn't really melt into Jon's, so it sounds a bit messy - but I quite like that :)

With respect I disagree about Hugh singing the lowest parts......certainly in Prayer it's Hugh singing the highest D-E on the 'Woah - Oh', more clearly heard on the Yokohama '96 show bootleg. I think it must differ from song to song in that case. Last Man Standing comes to mind with Hugh singing the lowest part in the chorus starting on the B(flat, live), heard clearly on the Amsterdam bootleg as Dave didn't sing at all on LMS at that show.

Nope, that would be the tape. Or the sample to be more exact. Hugh could never hit those notes. Have you even heard him sing?

Bearing in mind also that the Amsterdam show (as far as I'm aware) is the only time they've played LMS in such a low key - on the HAND tour it was a tone higher but still a half step lower than the recorded version.
