I love this quote!!!!

From the already posted article about the tour. From David Bryan:

""We probably have 100 songs to choose from that the band has learned and rehearsed and ready to go," Bryan said. "We're not a scripted act, if you will. You know, it's not a dance act where everything is coordinated.

"Jon will be up on stage and he'll turn around say, 'OK. I want 'Joey.' And we'll turn around and play that. And that's an album cut and so we have a lot of that going on. It's very spontaneous when we get up on stage."

Who do they think is reading this crap???

I'm trying not to be. But come on Deb, you gotta admit - This is getting old. You follow this band as much as anyone. You've read this stuff for the past 3 tours. You know it's nonsense.

The thing is, clearly, they KNOW that this is what the fans want. So why not back it up? They come out with a quote like this, then play the exact set list back to back, with almost no variation.

Aloha !

I remember a danfan who used to get upset when I posted this sort of stuff and who went into debate, defending statements like this. Someone has seen the light. :p

Hey - I still love the band. And up until about 5 years ago, had no problems with their touring. Then the prices started going up. And Jon and the band kept spewing this crap over and over and over again. Like I said - It gets old. Clearly, they know what the fans want. Why they refuse to give it to us is beyond me.

Erm, who cares about anything apart from what the music's like?

Screw interviews and any other bollocks.

Neurotica80 02-22-2008 06:15 PM

Are we all supposed to fall over in amazement at Frigging Joey??!!!

I know a guy who used to play professional sport over here and he pretty much regurgitated the same lines in all his interviews. I don't know if anyone noticed or cared since the audience was obviously a lot smaller than it is for Bon Jovi. But I interviewed him once for an assignment and he actually said "Well, off the record, this is what I really think *insert something potentially controversial*... On the record, this is what people want to hear *insert something positive that makes him sound good*". The point is, most interviews are pretty standard PR exercises IMO and are best read that way. There are some with more unique questions/answers that could be used to learn something about the band, but that particular one appeared to be a routine "So do you still enjoy it after all this time?" interview.
