Help Getting Started

I think I am in the right place for these types of questions. First, I want to know how I change the default titles that appear under my username. How is this done? Next, I am wondering how to make the bold, italics, underline, smilies work; both when I type a message like this, and when I attempt to edit my signature. I can see all the options present in both instances, but when I try to implement them, they do not appear in my message/signature. Again, how do I get them to work. Any help is appreciated; thanks in advance.

Welcome!

Unfortunately, you can't change the default titles, maybe a mod/admin can do it for you, not sure.

Making the options work.:

Type out the text you want, then highlight it, then choose the option, be it color, bold etc etc etc. Here is the code for the basic stuff:

[b]This is bolded[/b]

This is bolded
--------

[i]This is italics[/i]

This is Italics
---------

[u]This is underlined[/u]

This is underlined
----------

[center]This is centered[/center]

This is centered
-----
-------
--------
-------
This is the list code:

[list=1][*]Bon Jovi[*]7800* Farenheit[*]Slippery[/list]
  1. Bon Jovi
  2. 7800* Farenheit
  3. Slippery

To follow on from what Ryan said, only JoviTalk Moderators and Jovitalk Award winners can have a customised title underneath their names. Unfortunately requests are not taken for these. Your current title will change dependant on your post-total.

Hope this helps.

Oh, I'm sure it's perfectly orgasmic, but I can't see there beng any awards before the next leap year :|

Kev 03-13-2008 08:17 PM

Not with Peter being extremely busy, I'm afraid a JT awards isn't in the offing any time soon.

Peter is like an ethereal being; the mystical warden of the board....oooooo.....

Hey everyone; thanks for the prompt, informative, and numerous replies with your assistance - I guess I really did come to the right place for help. I can live with the Junior Member/Senior Member title, but I would really like to ditch the "Suddenly" title that they gave me by default for something better, if possible. Italics This should show the word "Italics" in italics, right?

(Don't)Lie_to_me 03-13-2008 11:40 PM

The "Suddenly" changes as your post count grows. If you look at other members', you'll see stuff like "Posting Everyday", "Jovi Freak" and so on. Again, unfortunately, this can't be chaged before the post count is at a certian level, nor can it be customised to your own personal preference.

Nothing especially terrible to endure ;)

No; could be worse I suppose. So everyone starts out at "Suddenly" and works their way up to "Jovi Freak" (except moderators and award winners, who can change to their choice at will, right?) What you told me to do to get the italics, underline etc. working, is exactly what I did, when they weren't working; except that it was on my slow, old computer at home- I am now on the computer at the library- I guess that explains what the problem was. Is my new signature working?

Most People Don't Give Their Replies A Title

Since my library computer time is running out, I will leave enquiring how to obtain both a signature picture, and a profile picture, until another day.

(Don't)Lie_to_me 03-14-2008 12:41 AM

Yet by mentioning them, you ask for them by implication anyway. I admire the subtlety :)

Oh wait, I think I can answer my own question; you were probably refering to this post, as it pertains to my signature picture and profile picture, right?:D
