Hehe, just had a long argument with Oli about why Oasis are a better live act than Bruce Springsteen. :)

Goldsausage 08-12-2009 12:58 AM

I must confess, Liam balancing a tambourine on his head has won me over.

Wish Bruce did that :(

You're learning, son.

I was talking to someone who went to an oasis concert and apparently for the first few songs, liam didn't even sing, just had a beer and sat. Is this true?

Liam's been known to walk offstage at times when he's had a sore throat or difficulty with his mic but I'm not sure what gig this was. He didn't sing the first song (Turn Up The Sun) at a gig they did in Australia in 2005 because his mic wasn't working, but I'm don't know about missing the first few songs. Might have to give it a Google.

sad news that noel's now left...still from what i've read it won't be that suprising

hometownboy 08-29-2009 01:40 AM

it way shit :( thank god i got to see them to see live before this.

KeepTheFaith2211 08-29-2009 01:52 AM

I am really gutted. One of the worst nights of my life, if I am brutally honest.

Kathleen 08-29-2009 03:56 AM

Holy shit - all sorts of good news today

Anyways thats too bad about the news I was just getting into them, buying Stop the Clocks a couple of months ago and hearing most of Dig Out Your Soul, I wouldn't have mind seeing them live. Shit and just to think if I would have been into them about a year earlier I would caught their show over here last December...shit....Damn Liam, it's clearly his fault, yeah he's the singer, but he's still going to be pissing in his pants, Noel was the writer and has a voice. Looks like will just have to do with Liam's shit songs like I'm Outta Time.

Supersonic 08-29-2009 03:24 PM

Aloha !

This is the third time Noel's announced that he's quit Oasis, and every time it's the last time. He even commented on it a year ago that Gem and Andy don't take it took seriously either.

If Liam really is to blame, why is it always Noel who takes a walk? Liam might not be the most intelligent one of the two brothers, but he almost never talks shit about his brother, while Noel all the time gives Liam slack about pretty much anything.

Oh well, they'll probably be back within 2 years.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

mo_rizwan 08-29-2009 05:58 PM

I'd give it 6 months (when they're a bit skint)

KeepTheFaith2211 08-29-2009 06:19 PM

Hopefully Liam, Gem, Andy and Chris carry on.

i'd rather they didn't. Noel was the brains of the band.
It'd be like spinal tap without nigel tufnell :p

Supersonic 08-29-2009 09:15 PM

Aloha !

Looks like it's a bit more definitive than usual, but still I've got my doubts that it'll stay this way. I'm surprised he talks about the band members not supporting him, and it merely looks like Noel Gallagher got tired of being in Oasis. As is usual the case when a tour is at it's end.

Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning.

As of last Friday the 28th August, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock'n'roll pop group Oasis.

The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and band mates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.

I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who'd paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I'm afraid it's all I've got.

While I'm on the subject, I'd like to say to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise - although I don't know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren't up to it.

In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I'll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have a family and a football team to indulge.

I'll see you somewhere down the road. It's been a ****in' pleasure.

Thanks very much.

Goodbye.

NG.

I still feel it's a bit silly of him to leave the tour before the final 3 dates or something were done.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

KeepTheFaith2211 08-29-2009 11:56 PM

It's just silly in general in my opinion. He and Liam don't get on. Who cares? Fair enough a band is better when united but in my opinion they have never really liked each other from the start and have seemed to manage. I realise tension builds and builds to a point where things can get bad but he's walked out with three dates left, and he will make a solo album, no doubt, which won't be as popular and will get people clamouring for a reunion.

You've obviously never been in a band with people you don't like :)

He doesn't need the money and if Liam is being a total prick constantly, why would he stay?

It's a shame, Oasis were a huge part of my teenage years and I always kind of thought they'd just keep going and going till they dropped dead but alas no.

I'm just glad I managed to see them live a bunch of times especially on this tour. Love or hate their music, when they're on form they really are one of the greatest bands in the world.

This news made my weekend, one of the most overhyped bands in the world...

Please let it be over!!!!

KeepTheFaith2211 09-02-2009 12:24 AM

It's funny that so many people who hate them are overjoyed that they split up and it was even 'the best news of the week/news made their weekend.'

Maybe you care too much?

I dont know why he just didnt come out on his own and done a solo set, it would have been legendry, Ala Unplugged 96.

As for the "split" im pretty sure it will be an extended break. Im looking forward to hearing a Noel solo record and tour

KeepTheFaith2211 09-02-2009 12:47 AM

I would rather hear Liam material than Noel material. Liam doesn't get enough credit. Fair enough, he's wrote some terrible songs, but he has also wrote some brilliant ones.

Hes nothing without Noel and im a Liam Fan. A Liam solo album would take years to come out. And it would prob be full of Little James's

live for your toys
even though they make noise

I dont think Noel has owt to worry about :D

Jim Bon Jovi 09-02-2009 02:24 PM

to be fair to liam songbird is one of the best tunes oasis have done since what's the story...

but i digress.

here's hitler's reaction to it the break up news :)

Liam has wrote:

'Songbird', 'Little James', 'I'm Outta Time', 'Guess God Thinks I'm Abel'. They are all pretty good in my opinion. Fair enough, you might hate 'Little James' but on that particular album and the one after, Noel didn't exactly set the world alight with his songwriting.

Maybe you care too much?

Good question.

Here's something you said on the night Oasis split...

"This is the worst night of my life"

Maybe you care too much?

Ferret 09-02-2009 09:43 PM

The best band in the world has let down the best fans in the world. They should just overcome their childish arguments and get on with the music. I can't remember how many times this tour Noel and Liam have stated "We hate eachother...but we won't split up." Only a couple of weeks ago Liam was in the NME with an article called 'What The Future Holds For Oasis'. I'm sure Liam wanted to continue the band, but Noel is obviously bored and needs to get some solo work out of his system. Who knows, maybe they'll resolve their issues and be back once they've all done their own thing for a bit.

I'd also like to add that Oasis have not split up. Noel has left. Liam and Andy are on holiday in Italy together, so at least some of the band are still friendly. Noel also claims that the rest of the band don't feel the same way as him, rather than just Liam, so it seems Oasis still exist. Then again, without Noel, they're not really Oasis. It would be good if they would record/tour under a different name for a while. The others all know their way around a tune. Obviously it would be no Definitely Maybe, but they could do something good, probably, abliet very Lennon/60s in general-aping.

Fuck, I'm gutted.

What would you do if Bruce died of a heart attack? Or was brutally stabbed to death? Or his vocal box was sliced out? Or he suddenly decided to quit playing music? Or he went sky diving and the parachute didn't open, and he forgot his backup one and splattered helplessly all over the pavement? All this beforw you got to see him again? Or... Or.... Okay I'm being a bit of an idiot...

Supersonic 09-02-2009 09:51 PM

Aloha !

As many of you know I'm about the biggest Oasis fan you will all ever meet but I seriously feel nothing with this break up. They're brothers, they'll get back together eventually. I reckon there'll be a new Oasis tour and album within 5 years, I don't understand why so many Oasis fans see it as a definitive split. Have they not learned from the past?

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Our insider Luca & Ale meet Liam Gallagher his wife Nicole and Andy Bell in Lake Como, Italy.

Liam has rekindled the hopes of the fans, saying that Oasis will return, and an announcment on the bands future will be made in January!
January FFS! Still, Liam may be appearing on Jonathan Ross soon.

Goldsausage 09-03-2009 05:44 PM

Hmm, weird Jack...

Quote:

Liam Gallagher was heard saying that Oasis was "over" and that he will never reunite with brother Noel.

The Manchunian singer spent four nights at the exclusive Villa D'Este hotel in Italy's Lake Como with girlfriend Nicole Appleton and fellow band member Andy Bell after the band split, and during dinner he apparently made the declaration to waiter Vincenzo Della Corte.

Vincenzo told the Daily Mirror: "I had to ask him what the future was and he said it was all over and there was no way he would get back with Noel."

He added: "He said that Noel had his style of music and he had his and they would be going their separate ways."

Liam, 36, ate pasta with black truffle, washed down with Cristal champagne and Antinori rose wine during the three-hour meal.

Vincenzo said: "You hear all these stories about Oasis being real rock and rollers but Liam was really polite and was very happy to talk.

"What also struck me was how in love he is with Nicole. He was kissing and touching her all the time and his leg was always resting on hers - you could tell they adore each other.

"They were all having a good time and he didn't seem at all bothered about the fact he had caused one of the world's biggest bands to break up."

Oh that Liam G, gotta love him!
