Jim Bon Jovi 02-19-2010 05:51 PM

Liam's few songs on 'Don't Believe The Truth' and 'I'm Outta Time' are very good songs?

Still doesn't excuse Little James.

Plus everyone knows mucky fingers is easilly the best tune on truth.

Dear me. I like you Jim but we obviously have different opinions. :p

I have a soft spot for 'Little James'. There's something innocently likeable about it.

However, I do not lie when I say 'Mucky Fingers' is probably my most hated song ever. I despise it. I cringe whenever I hear the opening chords.

hometownboy 02-21-2010 01:43 AM

can Liam really claim to be a real northerner anymore since he moved south as soon as he had the money?

Songbird and guess god thinks i'm able are good, his others don't really do anything for me.

You sir are a philistine. mucky fingers is the best thing they put out since giants.

I suppose I'm slightly biased against Little James as I had an ex girlfriend make up an elaborate pregnancy hoax to put the shitters up me and all my friends used to sing Little James to wind me up about it.:D

And that's JBJ's misspent youth story for the day.

Surely if he said this on twatter then it wasnt to his face.To me he,s made himself look a bigger twat now than he did at the brits.

alonso14 02-21-2010 08:04 PM

I really dont see how he acted like a twat at the Brits?

Throwing object which could break someone's nose into crowd
Giving away an award that he shouldn't even be accepting in the 1st place, certainly not alone
Intentionally not thanking the guy who actually wrote the album and made him a multi-millionaire in the process.

alonso14 02-21-2010 09:12 PM

You make it sound like he threw the award at the crowd full force. Watch it and you will see he got close, stepped down an lightly threw to someone ready to catch.

Of course he wasnt going to thank Noel after what has happened, but he didnt really need to did he, as we all know it was Noels album.

The album won an award, so why shouldnt he go and collect it? Noel distanced himself from Oasis as soon as he quit, so he wasnt going to go and get it. Not like there was going to be a reunion with Bonehead, Guigsy and Alan White was there?

Jim Bon Jovi 02-21-2010 09:21 PM

I'm talking about the mic.

Even if he tossed it gently, that slips through someones fingers or gets knocked toward them in the mad grab and breaking a nose or teeth is a very real possibility.

Everyone know's it's Noel's album which makes Liam intentionally leaving him out of the thank yous an even bigger dickhead move. He looked like a stupid schoolkid trying to get one up on his rival.

But it's Liam he always has and always will be an arse.

I'm really starting to listen to these guys. Too bad I'm too late to the party.

I was too. However, I just saw Noel a few weeks ago and was quite solid live. Played 5 or 6 Oasis tunes as well.

Agreed. I think Noel's album is pretty good. Five or six really good songs on there.

Jim Bon Jovi 12-06-2012 10:47 PM

Oasis was the soundtrack to my misspent youth :D

They were the big "legit" (i.e. non ex-permed stadium cock rock band) I was into. Was lucky enough to see them live a handful of times and they were brillian tlive.

I've not seen a concert video that's come close to capturing the energy and magic of one of their gigs. I saw them a month or two before they split up and even then they put on a brilliant show.

Noel's new stuff is good but not a patch on the classics and Liam's own stuff is appalling. It's very coincidental that by time they got to Shoulders and Liam was allowed to start putting tunes forward, the content took a nose dive for the most part.

I think when SOTSOG is good...it's brilliant. When it's bad...it's awful.

'Go Let It Out', 'Gas Panic!', 'Roll It Over' and 'Where Did It All Go Wrong?' are great, and 'Who Feels Love?' is actually my favourite song of theirs.

Jim Bon Jovi 12-07-2012 12:12 AM

No doubt it has some amazing songs on it but Who Feels Love is the moment that they really shat the bed in my opinion.

I've loved it ever since I saw the live version on 'Familiar To Millions'. It's got a great vibe to it.

This is exactly my opinion on What About Love as well. One of the better tracks on the album I dare say.

I salute you,
TS

TwinFan 12-18-2012 01:10 AM

Geez, every corner I turn, I find another good song from these guys. What a band.

I've listened to most of what both the High Flying Birds and Beady Eye have put out, and I must say, Noel's project is way more appealing to me. I definitely prefer Noel's voice to Liam's, and tend to like the Oasis songs he sings more than the one's sung by Liam.

KeepTheFaith2211 12-19-2012 12:23 AM

Always thought 'Listen Up' was one of their best efforts.

TwinFan 12-27-2012 05:04 PM

Damn. These guys are just amazing. I think they're one of the best bands of all time, which is astounding to me that I think that considering I've only been really listening to them for about 3 months. Like I said earlier, every corner I turn, there's another cracking song. And I must say, their songs are really fun to play on guitar, too. :)

Live, they seemed just immense, and had the crowd eating from the palm of their hand. I can't imagine what it would be like to have been there. And those clips above are just from what they've officially released.

is definitely my favorite by them.

I pretty much learned guitar by playing Oasis tunes. Probably explains why my soloing is mediocre at best but Noel definitely knew how to write a good guitar part.

They were a phenomenon to see live. I had the fortune to see them 5 or 6 times and even at the very end a month or so before the split when it must all have been going to pot behind the scenes, they were amazing.

I remember Richie playing Don't Look Back In Anger in Amsterdam last year, which was shit but not as shitty as that ****ed up Oasis crap, thank you very much.

And to conclude your argument you posted a video of Sheperds Bush in Amsterdam?

Oasis are a band you either get or you don't get. They, and especially Liam in the later part of their career, were a bit hit and miss though. In the U.K. most shows were brilliant, but if you went to a show where a crowd isn't into it they were rather dire. If you're going to the show but refuse to join the party you really can't blame the band for you not being able to have a good time. It's probably why they never made it big in the U.S.A. and their shows over there never really "worked" the way they did in the rest of the world. It's a cultural thing America just doesn't get.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I've missed Oasis.

Been listening to them these past few days. I still think both 'Don't Believe The Truth' and 'Dig Out Your Soul' are very good albums.

SexxAtraxxion 01-09-2013 06:28 PM

Let's All Make Believe should've been included in SOTSOG, great song.

I am a big diehard Oasis fan too, and I've seen them live in Brazil a couple of times ... There was one gig in 2005 or 2006, they were almost finishing the tour and had not played Supersonic during the entire tour ... During the encore break, the crowd was singing the solo melody of Supersonic !!! Noel came back on stage and said something like - "Ok this is beyond belief" and Zak kicked in the song !! Noel talks about this on the Lord Don't Slow me Down documentary, he said it was biblical ...

Oasis gets the crowd going at a level that BJ never will ... I'm not saying Oasis is better than BJ, specially because I love Bon Jovi more than I love Oasis, but the reaction to South American crowds to Oasis songs is just unbelievable ...

I agree. For the longest time, I didn't "get" it. I was aware of Oasis, but nothing more. Then in July of 2010 I bought the Time Flies comp and something just clicked with me. Now I own the whole catalogue, and their one of my favorite bands.

TwinFan 02-05-2013 06:10 AM

God, even the b-sides are great.

I definitely prefer Noel's work to Liam's, but Oasis wouldn't have been nearly as popular without Liam's distinct voice. Imagine Champagne Supernova or Supersonic sung by Noel? It just wouldn't fit as well.

I love the High Flying Birds album. I hope Noel's second album will be just as good. Tried listening to Beady Eye (multiple times, actually), and I just didn't get in to it.

Even though Beady Eye is miles ahead of Liam's efforts back when he was in Oasis (Litte James and so on), they are still dire. The only song that I've listened more than 3 times was The Beat Goes On.

Nah Beady eye are rubbish. All the talent in Oasis lay with Noel. Once he started relinquishing song writing duties to the other guys in the band the quality of albums started to go downhill. No question that Liam was once an incredible vocalist but he's been dire for the last decade. Amazing frontman, but Noel wrote the songs that allowed him to be. His immense arrogance on stage just isn't justified with his beady eye material.

Liam wrote a few decent songs to be fair, like 'Guess God Thinks I'm Abel' and 'I'm Outta Time'.

Agreed almost 100% (with the exception being Songbird. I'm going to guess a lot of people dislike that song, but I adore it. Want it to be my wedding song one day actually.)

I agree, Songbird is a good effort. In fact Liam's efforts on Don't Believe The Truth were quite respectable, but still nothing compared to Noel's writing. It's funny I've always thought of She Is Love as Noel's version of Songbird; and a song that I personally think is far superior.
