Good or bad news?

Thunderstrucker 04-21-2009 11:52 PM

Not good, not bad, just another story about Liam and Noel.

I salute you,
Thunderstrucker

KeepTheFaith2211 04-22-2009 12:03 AM

As a fairly new Oasis fan, this article scared the shit out of me.

But, everyone has been saying they do this often? :|

Thunderstrucker 04-22-2009 12:07 AM

Yes. It defines Oasis. They are always argueing with eachother. I am not surprised and for sure not scared.

Oh that's a relief then. Was worried that I was starting to become a bigger fan and they would break up. :(

Glad it's normal though :)

Very normal ;) Just like me and my brother, always falling out lol.

As for the band, it'd probably do them some good to have time apart, hopefully noel won't stop writing though!

Possibility of a Noel solo album?

Liam posted a reply on his twitter about the song they were meant to record:

Noel's been saying he wants to do a solo album since the 1990s. He's admitted he just talks about it in interviews to piss Liam off, and I can't see it coming out for a good few years. A new Oasis record will probably be released three years after DOYS, in 2011. I doubt they'll take this break.

I'd like a Noel solo album, though.

KeepTheFaith2211 04-22-2009 06:03 PM

Anyone hear about the news today? An acoustic version of Waiting For The Rapture?

Butters 04-22-2009 06:07 PM

I saw the clip of it on youtube. Sounds great.

Ferret 04-22-2009 07:06 PM

Of course it's good, but it's a massive letdown. There had been rumours of something big :(

Did you just censor the word "under"? :p

Nice one anyway.

Correct, S*****land are our rivals, so the venue is gonna be awful, but the band is who I'm going to see, so...:D

KeepTheFaith2211 04-28-2009 07:51 PM

Today I am mostly in Miami. Just stopping off on the way to Venezuela. Crack'arse, to be exact. Only away for 2 and a bit weeks and this bit of the tour is usually good fun. But I'm actually not looking forward to it. Weird, eh? Mind you, we are rehearsing different songs for the set-list at the UK gigs. I won't tell you which ones in case they don't work out. Should be at least 2-3 though. Hopefully 4-5. But probably only 1! Such is the level of commitment to these kind of things in certain quarters. We shall see.

I just lifted it from the Oasis forum(this is not the whole post), and apparently Noel said that. Any ideas about if it will actually happen/what the songs might be etc.?

Supersonic 04-28-2009 09:38 PM

Yeah, I guess it will happen. They have rehearsed The Turning, Bag It Up, Digsy's Dinner, Live Forever, Acquiesce and 2 from Be Here Now, one being My Big Mouth. I'm sure they've rehearsed a few more. The Turning and Bag It Up are probably not going to happen. Noel has always said that they can't get those 2 right for a live setting and I honestly think they'll only take out 1 or 2 songs and will replace them by songs everybody's heard a million times already.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

KeepTheFaith2211 04-28-2009 09:54 PM

Well, on a personal note fr my first show, I really wanna hear Live Forever and Acquiesce but those who got to Oasis shows often probably don't want that...?

Those are alright, most don't want Songbird, Wonderwal and The Meaning Of Soul. There's more to Oasis than the first 2 albums and the last one. Sadly, Noel doesn't think too highly of their own back catalogue.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Ferret 04-28-2009 10:19 PM

Acquiesce and Live Forever are fine by me. In fact, I don't even mind Wonderwall or Songbird, just drop the fucking Meaning Of Soul...it helps to play songs that have a hint of melody within them. Liam has quite a few better songs than that heap of shit.

I'd like them to give Some Might Say a spin, anyway, though they'd probably have to do some major tuning down. My Big Mouth deserves a return as well, sounded fantastic in Liverpool. Not to mention the fact that only 6 songs of Dig Out Your Soul have been played.

KeepTheFaith2211 04-28-2009 10:30 PM

I've seen the setlist from this tour and I really like it, but some of my favourites are missing. How about Go Let it Out? Is that a song that people like/is performed well etc.?

They played Go Let It Out on all the various tours for SOTSOG and HC, but since DBTT it's been gone from the setlist, and it's not as if Noel ever mentions it. It's a shame, as most fans think it's a great tune.

Yeah I really like it. :)

Is 'Morning Glory' ever played? Fantastic song, that. :D

I'm not actually bothered what the setlist is TBH, I have no right to complain as I'm a new fan and it'll be my first concert, so...:p

Morning Glory's been played at every gig this tour, and last tour as well.

Really? I can't remember seeing iton the list. Oh well, great news. :D

Thanks.

Ok, so I want to pick up their GH, but I don't know if I should get the Stop the Clocks album or the Familiar to Millions live album. Some of their songs sound better live than the studio versions like Supersonic, which I think is way better on the live album. So any suggestions on which one I should get?

Ferret 04-29-2009 08:48 PM

Familiar To Millions is a shit gig, barring Gas Panic!, Supersonic and Noel's songs. Liam's wife had just left him and he'd been on the piss for days, so his voice was shot.

I'd stick with Stop The Clocks for now.

KeepTheFaith2211 04-29-2009 09:21 PM

Even though I think Familiar To Millions is alright, I agree with Ferret - Stop The Clocks.

I don't think it's a shit gig. Most shows from the 2000 tour were pretty odd though, they lacked soul or something, though the show at Rio was fantastic. That was a weird time for Oasis. I do think that Liam was on fire that night, and the second night was pretty weird as well with all the banter from Liam no one could understand due to him being incredibly drunk. Noel wanted to release another show on DVD back then though.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

KeepTheFaith2211 04-30-2009 06:03 PM

I think 'Live Forever' off of Familiar To Millions is great.

Ferret 05-04-2009 12:25 AM

They're Broadcasting a gig from Argentina tonight.

Quote:

Stop Crying Your heart Out says http://expresion.metro951.com/ at 7pm local time (11pm UK). This stream seems to be 32k only.

A post on L4E says it's also on http://www.la100.com.ar/home/pagina....Noticia&id=253 . The website says 9pm local time (1am UK). This stream seems to be at 20k . Obviously broadbvand streaming doesn't seem to have hit Argentin yet
Can't wait :D

KeepTheFaith2211 05-04-2009 02:05 AM

1AM? Erm...maybe...I don't know. :p

Your link doesn't work mate. :(

KeepTheFaith2211 05-18-2009 08:15 PM

So...Gas Panic! is possibly Oasis' greatest song? Anyone agree? :D

*I still prefer Slide Away and The Masterplan marginally, but it'll probably be my favourite soon. :p

Gas Panic is the best song on SOTSOG. I've always liked Don't Go Away off Be Here Now. I'm not saying it's their best song, but it would make my top 10 easily. ;)

† ÀžžÀ † 05-21-2009 04:06 PM

turn up the sun has been my favourite oasis tune since that album came out. it just encompasses their rock n' roll sound for me and was a great way to start gigs.

slippery89 05-27-2009 04:01 AM

Found the song Don't go Away...Not bad.

I really like that song. It doesn't seem to be a huge fan favourite, but there's something about it that i dig. 8)
