This has been going on since 1937 and the housing act. I'd like to say that I am a kid who grew up in that type of subsidised housing (no silver spoon here). I have been an engineer and a taxpaying member of society all my life - but I wouldn't have been if my parents hadn't had an affordable place to live and raise kids.

and fwiw i really don't like this government getting even closer in bed with private corporations. it's one of the biggest facets of fascism and these bailouts are a step closer to it. and while we're at it, what happened last year when all the people were having their houses taken? i can't remember the government doing much about it. it certainly didn't offer up close to a trillion dollars to put a plaster on it.
