Just found on ticketmaster that they are selling parking tickets for park and walk sites quite close to the stadium.
Given that there is a 2km car exclusion zone around the Ricoh this might be the best way of getting as close as you can in a car.

Both park and walk sites look quite close, about 10-15 min walk away.

Parked in there in 2006 at the Christ the King Park & Walk. It took a couple of hours to get out after the show.

Although the park & walks are positioned well to get to the ground, they were abysmal to get out of afterwards

We parked in the giant Tesco carpark next door, had to spend £25 in the store for the privelage but we bought plenty of lager, water and food between us to last the time whilst waiting outside the stadium.

on match days and concert days plenty of pubs and clubs on the foleshill road and surrounding area charge a fiver to park your car in they're back car parks
