i'd try and get digs as soon as possible to be honest.

i use hostelbookers or hostelworld.com for travelling. the flying pig downtown in amsterdam is a great hostel but any one of their other ones would be cool.

the only advice other than that would be as a single female i'd try and not get anywhere in the red light district if you plan to be going out and about at night alone...

thank you for the advice Jim !!!!

hey, thank you for the infos & posting your message ;)
hope within the show i'll find some nice BJ fans to go with there ...
that's the first time i 'll have to travel alone to go to a BJ show , so sad so sad .... yep, im not that happy i should be but what can i do then ??!!!

yep, to be honest with yu, i m quite scared about the id of getting out late at night ALONE especially going back to my hotel after the show & im wondering if the metro will be on or not at that late time .... i've heard too that the central station & the red distric are not safe places ....

amsterdam doesn't have a metro and i would really suggest not being around centraal after dark unless you're with a guy you trust.

the red light disctrict is actually safe when it's busy for the most part but you still have to be wary if you're walking alone since there's plenty of alleys and dark spots.

the flying pig downtown is just outside the red light district as is st christophers.

the bulldog is just inside it but on a busy stretch so it's not too dangerous.

any one of these 3 would be ok to stay in imo.

Don't be! Ok, I've never been to Amserdam, but I've traveld to conserts alone. I enjoyed it alot. It's a diffrent experience :)
The only thing that's bad is that you don't get the chance to share it with someone. However, Bon Jovi fans are one big family ;)

Well anyway. I just wanted to wish you good luck with both the consert and Amsterdam. Don't feel sorry for yourself, feel lucky :)

Good luck!

LOL I haven't heard about it being shut down either! Considering I live only a few blocks away from a station, I probably would've heard? It's not as an extensive system as London or Paris etc, but the metro most certainly is your best bet to get from the concerts' stadium to the centre of the city.

And... Amsterdam isn't as dangerous as people tell you it is. Not even the red light district - it's actually one of the areas where you can be sure there's always a lot of crowd and a lot of police on the streets. Same goes for Central Station actually. Hell, I never felt unsafe in the city, walking the streets alone at night :).

as in an underground? :-S

in fact when i think about it i'm sure they were doing some major work for one of the stations next to central when i was there in april.

HI ya all !!

i'd like to thank you for dropping these lines in this topic , it was nice to read each message of you ...
i will tell you after the show, (if im still alive lol ) how it was spending this show alone .. yep, i agree , it's a different experience to live im sure , but like you said, u can't share your emotions with someone & that's the bad fact .
yes, i think going to that show in metro, seems to be the better way to go but does anybody knows if metro lines are still open after midnite ?? if they don't, i dunno if i 'll find a bus or something to get me at my accomodation ...?
thank you in advance to answer my question ....

see ya !!
im gonna live my life everyday !!!!
