JBJ's football (or soccer if you prefer) shirts on this tour

kay here's the thing. i dont mean to sound bitchy or anything. i saw bon jovi in rock in rio lisbon last saturday and it rocked. no doubt about it. now the thing is, at the encore jon sported a portuguese football team shirt. of COURSE i'd expect him to do the same thing in other countries. but deep down i wanted to believe he wouldn't. not because i wanted to believe he REALLY supported my team. when he wore that shirt i wondered which player's name that shirt would have on its back. turned out to be 'BON JOVI' (can't remember the number). so guess what, I thought someone from rock in rio's organization had given him this as a special welcome-back gift since they haven't been here since 1995 (Richie sambora said in an interview he has no idea why that is... my guess is that it probably had something to do with the mullah factor ? lack of interest in having the band here seems unlikely ).
Anyway, I was watching the stuggart's videos from the 29th of May and there he was, sporting a german shirt, just 2 days before Rock In Rio's gig. lol. you'll probably say 'cmon, you had that coming' and I did. but somehow, deep inside I always expect artists to do these things because they mean it. they're all sell outs, nothing wrong with that. I wanna be a sell out myself. but it stinks eh eh. so yeah, im having some mixed feelings about these things. same as when paul mccartney played here 4 years ago and he said one of the songs had never been played live (cant remember which one, but i guess it was off the Rubber Soul album). guess what ?? he played that song (or those songs, cant remember) a day before in spain. blah !

IIRC Gene Simmons was presented with a Fremantle Dockers football (or Aussie Rules if you prefer) jumper at a gig in Perth a few years ago, and was widely booed by the (presumably pro-West Coast Eagles) crowd.:p

Just thought I'd share since I'm not entirely sure what the point of your post was.

Alotta text...

So you're saying you don't want Jon to wear any other soccer jerseys? And you don't want Sir Paul to play those songs anywhere else? Nice.

Aw man, I've had the same sorta experiences!

Like when I was looking to buy my first guitar, the guy in the store was selling me this sexy looking one. Said it had 6 strings, the only guitar ever to have 6 strings. So what did I do? Well I payed a lotta good money for this legendary six stringed guitar.

I didn't feel fooled at first. I mean, the guy showed me some other guitars and they all had 4 strings. So I got home, boasted to all my friends that my guitar has 2 extra strings. They didn't seem very jealous but I figured that deep down they were.

So after a few hours of practising I'm watching VH1 Classic. I see an Aerosmith video, Joe Perry has a six string guitar but I shake it off and said to myself "Hey, he's loaded and famous. I'm just a teenager man and I still have a siz atring, that's better than all my other peers".

Then on comes a Motley Crue video. What's that Mick Mars has? A six string, but I just thought the same as I did with Joe Perry's. Then on comes Bon Jovi...Def Leppard...Guns N' Roses...and more and more and more.

Then one of my strings broke a few months later. So I went to a guitar shop to buy some. But I went to a different one, not the same one as I bought my guitar in. As I walked in most of them were six strings! Ranging from a couple of hundred pounds to a couple of thousand! So I asked the guy working there how come there were so many six strings when apperntly they're really rare? And he said I was a fool, he slapped me, and said that there a billion six strings. I felt stupider. I couldn't believe the guy who sold me the guitar had lied to me!

I won't even begin to tell you about the time I bought my first car...

Two words: Who cares?

wearing a country's football strip / draping yourself in their national flag etc... is one of the oldest (and cheapest imo) tricks in the book to get a fan reaction.

As far as I know, Jon received these shirts from fans and was asked to wear them on stage. Not the first and probably not the last time, so I can't see any problem;)

Yep, they were both from fans. I don't see the big deal to be honest.

That's true, the shirt was given by some fans. It had the nunber 31 as it was the 31st of May. Nothing to do with football.
