UK ticket sales
 

I just read this article from a Coventry newspaper.

It says on May 28th 24,370 tickets had been sold, out of a potential 40,000. :-?

15,000 people are either leaving it late or we're gonna have plenty of room at these concerts. :)

Doesn't sound good at all. Hope people are just leaving it late. :(

The clips from Stuttgart I saw showed the back of the stadium with no seats sold at all, just the sides and the standing. Hopefully it wont be like that.

Maybe its the economy- with food, petrol, fuel prices sky rocketing, disposable income is down and people arent spending on luxuries as much.
According to the paper this morning, Linkin Park/Jay Z are struggling big time to fill the MK Bowl, aboout 30,000+ tickets. Glastonbury struggling, it just looks like concerts as a whole are taking a downturn as people cant justify spending £40-£80 on a gig.

You might have a point.

I was watching videos from the Foo Fighters shows at The city of Manchester and Wembley stadium, The amount of empty seats was appalling.

Still the Ricoh only holds 40,000. It should reach around 38,000 at least.

How disappointing.....Hope there is a rush for tickets this week, i hate to see stadiums with loads of empty seats.

I was at the Foo`s at the City Of Manchester and i`d say it was about 2 thirds full,real shame, although i blame a lot of it on the fact that Wembley was allegedly their only UK gig at the time ( then Manchester was added)and any weekday is a bad day for a stadium gig, The wembley gigs were apparently `well` sold out but i did see a few empty seats, hopefully BJ will have sold most tickets by the time the gigs happen but with todays economic climate i think the amount of stadiums they are playing is very ambitious.

Frankfurt had a few blocks at the back covered over, so who knows!

But I do agree with the Lost Highway point, It bombed like a mother****er in Europe and thats showing in ticket slaes.

But, seeing as there was supposed to be NO tour to support this record, which they know did not do gangbusters in Europe, I'm guessing they are okay with the ticket sales at this point. Without, knowing what percentage of tickets the promoter wanted to sell it's hard to really know if these sales are below expectations or not. Once the Billboard Boxscore comes out with what was the "sell out" number for capacity we will know.

i personally think they were too optimistic thinking they could sell that out , they could have easily sold out an arena or even two (one date in the north and one in the south)

Again i think glastonbury is struggling because of the strength of the line-up , the headliners are good in there own right but to headline britian's "biggest" festival , there no way near that status. Eavis should of gone out of way , paid the huge bill but got led zeppelin , if that was the case it would of sold out within an hour! Last year the rolling stones said they wanted 1 million to play , eavis denied (which i personally think was him thinking about his own pocket and it it's not like he doesnt make millions off the festival anyway) , i personally think he should of paid the bill , and also this time gone for bigger acts !
