Seat Next To You is a lovely song...
"End of".
Really, I can't see why all the negative about it? It got voted off, on that thread. To me there is worse songs on Lost Highway. I think SNTY is actually one of the best on there. It's a sweet song. Why is it so bad?? Well, at least me and my mum like it. :( |
I just think it's quite a bland song really - it's the thing about LH songs - everyone's got different ones they like. But to me, it's lacking any kind of punch or anything that connects with me at all. Maybe it is sweet, but so I guess would She's A Mystery be (as it was written about Jon's wife) and that's one of the worst Jovi songs ever).
But each to their own Jade - as I said, Lost Highway's quite a subjective album that way. Me, I really like Everybody's Broken, but again a lot of people hate that too. |
Hmm, bland? I dunno. I like the lyrics, they're nice.
Everybody's Broken...to me it's one the worst. I like the concept, but the actual song itself annoys me. Yip, each to their own hey. ;) |

I just finished watching that DVD not long ago. :D
It's not an awful song, don't get me wrong. But not one of my favourites on there. Not that the whole album is one of my favourites, anyway. |
Oh I love Seat Next To You. Didn't when I first got the album. I never liked the second half of LH much but I discovered it recently and love it.
I don't view it as a love song, that's probably why I like it. |
I actually like this song, and everybodys broken:) id ratherhave everbodys broken than WLOL

It's funny because just today I was thinking about how I like this song... it gives me the feeling of driving down a wet road after the rain. I can't really see it written about Richie's dad, but I can see that he might have had him in mind. It's a beautiful song with a beautiful melody, and it has a nice melancholic atmosphere without being too dark. That wet road thing. And it's some sort of grown up love song, and the woman in the background fits in really nice.
Last summer the good part of LH ended after this song, then came the fillers. Now I really appreciate the whole album, not as a century masterpiece, but a decent and laid back release of a band that doesn't has to prove anything to anybody (HAND sounded a bit forced here and there). Though still I think it COULD (maybe it should) be better to have the label "Bon Jovi" written on it. But complaining doesn't help changing the product, so I went to deal with it. Songs like "Everybody's Broken" have really grown on me, my problem was also that I got the theme, but thought it fell flat in delivery. SNTY was right from the beginning one of the better songs in the collection, and I can see how Jon is talking about "good songwriting" here (keeping in mind that it's the same person who wrote "Dry County", but hey, everything is relative, so...). And while SNTY will never beat other gems on other albums, it's a little something I really enjoy listening to. |
'seat next to you' is one of my favorite songs(as it reminds me of some1 I miss very much n is no longer here). Everybody's broken is my least fav song on the album.
