They're cool, an ex-girlfriend burned me a mix cd with a bunch of their songs. Most of them are cool to listenable.

I see it's a pretty mixed thread here, but I think Coldplay are fantastic. Listening to the new album for the umpteenth time right now. It seems like their music and lyrics have matured greatly on Viva la Vida. A fantastic album.

Coldplay - What is with them?
 

I think what people don't 'get' about Coldplay is how they can be so popular and how everytime they have an album out, they're EVERYWHERE, when really, their music is nothing special. It's ok, it's listenable and it's extremely middle of the road, so on that sense most people can enjoy it.

I thought they sucked to for the longest time believe it or not. Slowly they grew on me and right after Rush of Blood was released I was instantly grabbed. I couldn't agree more though, their music can be heard as boring and bland. With the meaning behind the songs and really laying down and listening to some of them really takes everything into perspective. They are great. They are great at what they do. Go to a live show and your perspective might change. It certainly opened up some new doors with their music because they were fantastic.

That and In My Place, was played at my friend's memorial at school. When we was just 15. :( So hard to listen to now...but both brilliant songs. Along with plenty other songs they have done.

i really don't like them either.

was reading a review yesterday and the critic was saying how they turn people into 'pod people', even though their music is boring loads and loads of people buy the albums. thought that was quite funny.

just bland and ubiquitous....and they spawned crap like James Blunt, Keane and other tosh like that.

As Jim said, they are easy to listen to. It's really that simple. It doesn't take much to get into them, just put on a cd and I'm positive there's something there for every listener. The new album is class. Good live band too.

I've always liked him, because he seems so down-to-earth. And..."normal"
