Lost Highway - A Year On

A few days ago a year passed since Lost Highway was first released, and I'm wondering what people's thoughts on it now are?

Personally, a think it's the band's best album since These Days, though obviously not upto TD's standard. Though there's a few bad tracks on it (I Love This Town, We Got It Goin' On, Summertime) it's generally a very good album with a few great tracks on it. It still holds up for me.

Discuss :p

I like the album, I really do. I liked it straight off. It isn't a "wow" album, but it's good...it works for me. Not the best since These Days... IMO Bounce is a lot better. There are a few songs on Lost Highway, that make me go "uggghhh" and press the skip button. But most of them I listen to and enjoy. I'd give it a....hmmmm.... 7 out of 10?

Aloha !

It's still shit to me and for me it's even worse than Bounce is. It's without a doubt their weakest release ever. Only Any Other Day, Whole Lot Of Leavin' and Lost Highway standout, and I'm saying Highway because I've got fond memories of the song as an opener, and I'm saying Leaving because of the memories attached to it. Not because they're such fantastic songs.

After Any Other Day the album becomes one big snoozefest with mediocre songs on it that wouldn't even have made the boxset and the bonus tracks save the album, like what happens on most Bon Jovi albums lately. It's rubbish to me.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Love the album, one of my favourites.
Loved it when it came out and love it even more now!

Doesn't top HAND as my favourite 00s album but I have great memories attached to LH.... Overall I like it but it could/should have been a much stronger album given the subject matter, and a bit of a sameness creeps in if you listen to it too much. Plus We Got It Going On and I Love This Town make me cringe... although live, they are good* and ok respectively, and I can listen to the studio versions when mood permits.;)

Make a Memory is probably one of my favourite ballads.

*denotes performances without Big & Rich;)

I like it less now than I did a year ago and I don't think that says much since I hardly ever listen to it. However, if I do listen to the album, it's either Make a Memory, Whole Lot of Leavin' or Any Other Day.

I still like this album althought there are a few tracks on it Im not keen on 'I love this town', 'summertime' n 'The last night'. My faves are 'lost highway', Seat next to you' n ' we got it goin on'. I think WGIGO brings back the rock we heard in the 80's eg 'Raise your hands' 'Let it rock' 'wild in the streets'....etc

It could have been a lot better with the 3 b sides on ther and getting rid of Seat Next To You, Everybodys Broken and One Step Closer

its an alreeet album...a couple of highlights!

When I first heard the snippet of We Got It Goin' On, I thought that that would be my favourite track on the album. Now it's one of my least favourites, although it's great fun live. Some tracks on Lost Highway have grown on me, and the only tracks I can honestly say I don't like much are One Step Closer, Everybody's Broken, and We Got It Goin' On. I think the album is their best post 2000 release so far.

In saying that, would I rather have a GOOD rock album instead of a country influenced album like LH? Hell yes!
