The London shows on reflection
Now we have had some time to digest the two London shows what does everyone think?
As a big fan I always come away wishing they had played something from 'These Days' or a favourite song of mine etc, I know with such a selection of material that this is always going to happen. Why only 21 songs on night 1? only a 2 song encore? They did play 'Dry County' but compared to the Manchester set I thought that was a bit lame to be honest. I think maybe they were saving something for night 2. What with having 25 songs and hearing 'I Believe' which was amazing. But I still feel it was missing that extra something. I thought as has happened before that the last show of the Europe tour would be more special than say Manchester for example. I don't even remember Jon making any real comments about being the last show. When I look back at 'Hyde Park 2003' or 'Munich 2001' or Helsinki 1996' those seem to be more special etc. I did enjoy the show, don't get me wrong. I think that as they have played so many rare tracks at different venues, maybe I was just expecting too much. I would have prefered to have heard 'Blood On Blood' & 'These Days' instead of 'Rockin' All Over The World' & 'Twist & Shout' I think that I have also had enough of 'Cpt Crash' & 'Born To Be My Baby' What do you think? |

As I've said in my other post, I think it was all down to expectations. However, everyone's saying Manchester was such a great set - but the only thing it had different was Diamond Ring and Last Cigarette (LC not great in my opinion, and DR though cool, isn't exactly This Ain't A Love Song) I still think the Twicks shows were solid sets, especially the 2nd night. If they'd finished on anything other than Twist & Shout no one would be complaining. |
Although Night 2 had I Believe, I still prefer Night 1.
Nothing beats Prayer as an opener and Dry County in the setlist :) Still, I'm kicking myself for not going to Manchester :( |
I was a little let-down at Twickenham after being spoiled at Manchester with such a great, long set there - but as two shows on their own merit I think that the Twickenham shows were still good. If you compare them to shows from America a couple of months ago they are very different, just that we've had a lot of rare stuff in Europe so our expectations were obviously too high. I still had a damn good time though!

I loved both shows. I didnt have any expectations going, there was a few songs I did want to hear but wasnt too pushed.
I did prefer the second night because of I Believe. This song is one of my favourites and made the night for me. I was at 4 shows this tour and because of I Believe, Twickenham 2 was my favourite show. I would have preferred if they didnt end on a cover but I still loved both nights :D We knew night 1 was gonna be short when they didnt come on before 8pm. Curfew was 10.30pm and they pretty much stuck to it. |

Being from the US, I loved both shows. But, we tend to get much blander set lists. Hearing I Believe, Always and Dry County were well worth the price of my plane ticket. :D

So what, we didn't get many major changes for the London show? Big deal.
They dished out the 'surprises' on every date in the UK, instead of just concentrating on the London shows as usual which i thought was great. We should be reflecting on the whole UK tour not just the London shows because this year they spread the quality songs out a little further, and rightly so. |
i loved both nights, earlier in the week i thought night 2 was better because of the longer set. But prayer as opener and dry county were a dream for me, So night 1 was better for me too.

When we all bought ticks, if you'd told me we'd get the 'Old-School opening', Always, Dry County, Diamond Ring to name but a few..all at the same show.. i would've thought you were insane.
Manchester set list was crazy.. they just kept going & that was a great night. Twick1 did have a similar & shorter setlist, but sound was better, atmosphere for me was better so was a pretty mega night + got Dry County again! & they let us sing the first verse of Wanted on our own which i Love! Didn't get much These Days material which i REALLY wanted, but it just means i've still got something to look forward to next time! |
