Livin' on a Prayer: Fans of Bon Jovi still hoping for a show here at the First Union Arena came alarmingly close to never seeing it happen. Earlier this week a plane carrying lead singer Jon had to make an emergency landing en route from Los Angeles to New York. The aircraft, making a stop in L.A. on its way from Australia, reportedly blew a turbine. Some passengers saw flames spewing from the engine.
Thankfully, Jon and the rest of the passengers are OK, and the band's "Bounce" tour is continuing. The March 7 show in Philly is sold out, but tickets still remain for the Feb. 8 show at State College. For information, call (800) 863-3336.

An air scare
Rocker Jon Bon Jovi, media heir Lachlan Murdoch and wife Sarah O'Hare were among 191 passengers who had a fright Monday when an engine failed on a Qantas 747. It had just taken off from the Los Angeles airport en route to JFK when passengers heard a loud bang and reported seeing a sheet of flame shoot from one of the jets. The Qantas pilot returned the plane to the runway without further incident.
