thread hijackers

Can people stop hijacking threads to have little chats with a mate.
If you want a personal conversation then PM them – don’t hijack a thread just to post stupid immature replies.
If you read some peoples posts they are silly little relpies that have nothing to do with the topic
If you have nothing to say then don’t post

Im not a moderator or anyone special im sure im not the only one that hates settling down to read a 8 page thread only to find that 6 pages of it is of utter rubbish posted by immature morons.
I wont name names – you know who you are.

Pisses me off as well. C'mon folks, tone it down please.

Goldsausage 07-09-2008 05:21 PM

By the way, you're being off-topic by posting this in a Bon Jovi section.

danfan 07-09-2008 05:22 PM

I know this will sound unpopular, but one thing that has been driving me crazy is the clique threads that go on and on for pages when you're trying to read the setlist from the previous night's show.

Christ - Go to a chatroom.

It's actually not an unpopular opinion!

Don't mean to be picky but in the New Testament of the Bible it clearly states that going into chatrooms is a sin so I don't think it's the best place for Christ to go.

Isn't that where Christ met Mary Magdellan?

Peterson 07-09-2008 05:28 PM

Gotta agree, it is getting annoying, almost as bad as born_to_run's pish.

Wish people would use MSN.

It wasn't a sin back then. It is now.

No they met at a book reading club. The book of the month was the Bible funnily enough.

You're not getting the message - take it to pm or to msn or aim for chat. Good manners are not completely outdated - especially on an international message board where English is not everyone's native language. Imagine the frustration of someone struggeling to read all those messages before it dawns on them that it is private chat :(. There is nothing wrong with sticking to a topic.

i agree - 1 thread was 76 pages and most of it was personal converations.

Prove it

SmirkSteve 07-09-2008 05:33 PM

Have to say I agree too, there are some threads that start off as interesting chat about the relevant topic but this then degenrates into another 5 pages of MSN chatter that puts me off reading the rest of the thread.

The number of active members on this forum seems to have dropped drastically during this MSN period and that period being during a tour shows how much it is affecting the forum.

Grypweed 07-09-2008 05:33 PM

I thought all the slowchatters had been very well behaved, not bringing it into the PBPs, mostly keeping it to the NBJ forums. And even participating in real Jovi discussions!

Was I wrong?!

Yeah I have to agree with this. Even though I am a culprit (yeah I've got my hands up for once ;)) we are moving it to the NBJ sections more than we used to.

So yeah we may ruin a couple of Bon Jovi threads but we're getting better.

Grypweed 07-09-2008 05:35 PM

Oli, I don't like being on people's bad sides :( I'm scared!

I don't even bother looking for setlists here any more. I just go to bonjovi.com. Trying to find it here, takes scrolling through dozens of pages of useless crap to find it. It's annoying as hell.

Yeah, you were wrong lol.

I for one stopped visiting this board for a few weeks simply because I was getting pissed off at having to read through page after page of peoples personal conversations, usually these conversations were in the middle of a PBP where most people were only interested in the set, not other peoples chat.

It does seem to have calmed down a bit recently, probably because of this thread. But it is still constantly happening and it is driving people away.

Hey that thread had nothing to do with it :( Jade and I are rebels

Hey I just realised, my chatty partners begin with J! Jem, Jack, Jade...

Grypweed 07-09-2008 05:44 PM

Funny, I made a post before saying I'm always right. WAS I WRONG THEN TOO?!

I will admit mate, a lot of your posts do make me laugh, you're a witty guy, but it's all the shite that comes after you've made a comment that makes it decend into chaos (so to speak).

So you're blaming the person who always replies to his witty comments?

yeah and no lol.

people are bound to reply, fair enough, but it just keeps going on and on and on.

I was just using him as an example (sorry Oli lol)

Grypweed 07-09-2008 05:50 PM

Good, I can eliminate myself then.

It's cool.

So REALLY I'm the good guy and the people who reply to me are the badasses

Grypweed 07-09-2008 05:51 PM

That's what you think

No it's true :D I supply the thread with a comment, someone usually replies, it turns into a convo and then I join in the convo :D

Grypweed 07-09-2008 05:53 PM

No, alan said it's how it carries on, so it's your fault. Witty comment > reply > then your other witty comment. You're teh one who carries it on.

Goldsausage 07-09-2008 05:54 PM

Well it's not my fault I have witty comments <_<

Grypweed 07-09-2008 05:59 PM

You make them, of course it's your fault <_<

Goldsausage 07-09-2008 06:00 PM

I blame the thing that triggers my witty comments.

Grypweed 07-09-2008 06:02 PM

No wait scratch that. DON'T QUOTE ME POLI.

Goldsausage 07-09-2008 06:03 PM

Hmm perhaps. But not always, sometimes I outsmart smart people!

Grypweed 07-09-2008 06:05 PM

That didn't make sense, even to my original post.

No wait, yes it did. I only saw one of the "smart"s :(

In which case, yes, you are right. I hope nobody figures out that I said "dumb people"!

LMAO! Me too, they might believe you when you call them dumb!

Grypweed 07-09-2008 06:08 PM

I'm more afraid that they'll say it's ironic coming from me or something :(

Goldsausage 07-09-2008 06:10 PM

Well that would be mean of them, then I'd have to report them to the mods! I'm sure they'd do summit.

Grypweed 07-09-2008 06:16 PM

Yeah, they're very good at what the do  Well, a couple of them are. One of them is well bad.
