Here my friends I present to you a little example of how easy, and unintentional, it can be to go off-topic...

No, I wouldn't have replied again because I simply checked Google for it - and that isn't the kind of topic that gets updated like a setlist thread anyway! People will just reply with the likes of "I like that" and not get into a discussion which is somehow ruined by another comment! You're just looking for excuses to spam!!

Goldsausage 07-10-2008 03:56 PM

<_< I'm not looking for excuse to spam, I was just proving how easy it is to reply. You couuld easily have replied to me in a PM or something - OR TOLD ME TO TELL YOU IN THE MOVIE SECTION.

So maybe that example wouldn't have gone on for pages and pages but others do.

You don't get it - that thread wasn't one in which any kind of discussion was going on, so even off-topic posting doesn't cause disruption! People here are complaining about off-topic discussion in threads where an actual discussion is going on, and thus the off-topic stuff disrupts it and makes it impossible to follow the real discussion!

Well if you were in a more active thread I would have said it then, you still would have replied.

I very much like Ice's idea.

But I think Kev will be upset when he comes back.

No - I would have been more considerate to others who were trying to have a discussion.

Don't tell me what you would do. You so would have still replied.

Look, I caught you out for the sake of the argument not to be mean, don't take it to heart. You were just the easiest to catch out.

For ****s sake - it wasn't a thread that mattered! And it was a thread I had started to begin with anyway! I wouldn't do it in the setlist threads or any kind of serious discussion! I've been posting on this board for more than 6 years already so I know a lot of people here, know how to conduct myself and anyone that knows me would know I'm not one to take threads off-topic! We have the F&G forum for that - in fact, it's the reason it was created a few years ago!

Thomas Anderson 07-10-2008 04:30 PM

...and before it is even suggested, this is not off-topic as we are discussing what constitutes spam!
