Very slim chance of Liverpool winning the title but fingers crossed they win against Villa....

Fingers crossed they won't! :D

Can't see us winning though. Havn't won for 7 games (in all competitions) but we've not been playing badly. Newcastle could have done us a favour and actually turned up against Arsenal though:mad:

The pressure is on Man U though. Once you go at them, then you have a chance. Teams just sit back though.

UKjovi 03-22-2009 12:58 PM

Arsenal back on form :)

Looks that way. Let's hope they use it on Man U if both get through in the champions league.

liljovi93 03-22-2009 08:06 PM

Great win! One point away now, wooo!!

JerseyboyUK 03-22-2009 08:36 PM

The worst Villa performance of the Randy Lerner/Martin O'Neill era. Absoloutly shocking. Torres hardly had a touch but we still let in 5 goals.
Only positive point was Brad Guzan getting a good few minutes in goal, he is one for the future.

Next game is against Man Utd, brilliant *sigh*

Friedel should never of been sent off. I hope they appeal.

Yeah, Torres wasn't very good today. Good to see Riera playing well again.

KeepTheFaith2211 03-23-2009 12:16 AM

Hold on, Newcastle played alright yesterday. :p

However, I do believe that is it now. With Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa still to play, we have a very tough schedule and even though I've said it the past 4 years, we will be relegated this season and it is completely deserved. Too mnay players talking about fighting and having character, not enough players actually displaying that.

So happy Man United are losing but I still see them winning the title. Doesn't bother me TBH, I was wanting Chelsea or Arsenal to win it so whoever wins it I won't be happy.

I still think Man U will win it. Against the not so good teams we seem to drop points and that is basically are next few fixtures.

From AVFC.co.uk:

"Villa have lodged an appeal against goalkeeper Brad Friedel's sending off in the defeat at Liverpool.

The club should learn tomorrow afternoon whether the red card and one-match ban will be overturned."

It'll be harsh if he misses the next game (away at Man Utd), he's currently the record holder for most consecutive top flight appearances. I'm not sure of the exact number, but it's around the 180 mark which is incredible even for a goalkeeper.

Credit to the Liverpool fans too, he got an amazing reception and a really loud 'Friedel!' chant when he got sent off.

I hope the appeal goes there way. Definitely wasn't a red. Yeah, I think it is 180 exactly. Hasn't missed a game for 5 years. One hell of a record.

Kev 03-24-2009 10:57 PM

Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel has had the red card he received in Sunday's defeat at Liverpool rescinded by the Football Association.

The visitors were 4-0 down when Friedel was sent off by referee Martin Atkinson for bringing down Fernando Torres.

However, the American argued he went for a 50-50 ball and had nowhere else to go after Torres got to it first.

The decision means Friedel will now be available for Villa's trip to Manchester United on Sunday 5 April.

New England shirts are decent. I won't be getting it though, will be getting Spain one with Torres 9 on back :D

I'm happy that no Liverpool players have been injured yet.....

RS8MB0R8 03-29-2009 01:31 PM

I really don't like the collar on the new England shirt. It makes them look like they're taking part in a PE lesson at school. I haven't bought an England shirt since Euro 2004 and definitely won't be buying the new one.

It's great though, up here in Scotland they sell all the England official shirts for about £13 (probably because not many people up here buy em!) so if I did want to get one at a later date, it's cheap as chips! :D

Last England shirt I got was before the World Cup I think. Can't remember. I plan on buying the Spain kits now.

I wasnt keen on the collar either, very English school boy look, but I think that was what they are aiming for... clean up the bad boy lager lout rep..... I dont think the players like it as most of them had turned the collar up...

Think their names on the back were a bit thin in colour and would look better bold..

Yeah, that's the impression I got too. It's probably an attempt to make it look less like a replica football shirt so it can be seen as a more casual tee-shirt for everyday wear - more of a smarter polo shirt style.

The lettering could have been a bit better too as you said. Maybe use navy blue instead of red and it would have been bolder and retained the "white and blue" that are the usual staple colours of the England home strip. I think the shirt would look much better if it was paired with traditional navy shorts - the white ones just don't work as well IMO.

KeepTheFaith2211 04-01-2009 08:52 PM

Shearer. Shearer. :)

Very true, I thought tonight they looked like they were school boys in all white kit.

At least they got the job done this evening... could have played better though.

Hahaha... That would end up happening.

The board have doen the right thing by bringing Shearer in. Hopefully he'll keep us in the Premiership, because honestly, we had no chance under Hughton/Calderwood but Shearer will boost the players/fans etc. and hopefully we will stay up.

Hasn't came back or got in touch with Wigan since Internationals.

KeepTheFaith2211 04-04-2009 08:53 PM

Well things are looking seriously worrying now. With Stoke and Blackburn winning, we aren't in a healthy position and will have to rely on other results now.
