BTW, Can anyone name the movie reference I just made?

Clerks.

To leave it nicely, I disagree.
As for Macca, he was still great when I saw him in '05.
Never seen the Stones, but my dad saw them in Sept of '06 and said it was the best show he's ever seen. (And he's seen almost everyone you can think of)

Did you see the halftime show when Petty did it? Really wasn't that great. He sounds Good and all, But he doesn't move around that much or does anything special. For me and I've seen both, He is as goods of a live performer as John Cougar.

I saw McCartney back in 05 also and it was good, but I had cheap upper level tickets and the crowd was dead. Nobody stood the whole entire show. I wouldn't have to see him again but I'm glad I did.

And as for the stones, They are Rock legends and they are great, But Carlie looks like he is about to have a heart attack with every strike . I have never seen them but they are great and all, but at there age the show just doesn't look like it's worth the hundreds of dollars they charge.

Bruce is a better performer than all of them, but overall I have to admit that McCartney is just as good of a song writer.:)

To each his own. I saw it, and I thought they were spectacular. I also have several Patty live DVD's, and all are quite good, especially the 30th anniversary show.
There's more to a good show than moving around IMO.

As for the Stones, I'd say for you to check this out:

BTW, None of this is saying that Bruce is not a great performer, as the two Bruce shows I've seen have both been amazing beyond words.

How does a dead crowd make a performer shit? And that crowd was probably dead because many of those songs McCartney performs are either songs the yanks don't know or are songs you don't stand up for. Blackbird, Till There Was You, I Will, Jenny Wren, Follow Me, For No One and more of those aren't exactly well known songs.

McCartney, apart from all the "I need another applause speeches" is an excellent performer and most current bands could only wish they'd be as good as McCartney live. And most acts could only wish they could do the Superbowl like he did. On the 2005 tour he performed 2,5 hours and 37 songs every single night. In the same key as they were recorded. Including all the screams and high notes. How does that make him a bad performer?

McCartney, The Stones and U2's Superbowl performances are the best there ever were. And Bruce will have to put up a very, very good performance if he wants to be added to that list.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

FTR, I saw Macca at MSG and everyone stood for everything, minus the (at the time) new songs.
And BTW, as good as Macca and the Stones were, I think U2's performance was in a class above even those. The passion and energy there were amazing. I still get goosebumps when watching it as a special feature on The Superbowl 36 Highlights DVD (My beloved NE Pats won their first title that year).

I have to agree here though I don't have a shadow of a doubt that he will put up an excellent performance.

I'm not taking anything away from McCartney or the other bands we've been discussing. I'm just a diehard Bruce fan and he would put up the best halftime show. When Petty did it it was nothing fancy. I was going to see him in July when he came to the target center but I decided not to. I'm not upset that I didn't because he played less then 20 songs. Nothing compared to the 3 Bruce shows That I would see at giants where he played over 3 hours each night:).

As for McCartney again, When your at a show where there is a bunch of old people sitting, It takes away some of the energy. His performance was good and I'm glad I went, But next time he comes around I won't have to spend the money to see him again. I could see bon jovi, Bruce, and U2 until I die and never get sick of them.

And crushgan24/88...

GO STEELERS!!!
