Just found out that I'm seeing Motorhead tomorrow...

We are Motorhead we play rock 'n' roll.......

YAAY. I can't ****in' wait. Saxon opening...lots and lots and lots of boooze....ahhh...it's amazing when you find out less than 24 hours in advance that there's such a big rock night coming up...

Had to share my excitement!

I used to hate Motörhead, but then last week somehow "Ace Of Spades" came to my mind and didn't disappear, so I went over to a friend - who is a hardcore MH fan - for a brief introduction. I remember that some time ago he showed me the "Live at Brixton Academy" DVD, and I was quite impressed by the power of the guys. They rock, oh yes. So now I have a bunch of albums to listen to, and actually it's quite fun. They play their Rock and Roll without compromise, and you gotta give them credit for that! My favourite song so far is one that may be not so typical for them: "One More ****in' Time" from 2000s "We Are Motörhead". It's slow and mighty. Love it! :-)

I'm drunk and deaf. Bloody hell. Never ever have I attended a gig that loud. Everything hurts...

So did you enjoy it? I wsaw them Christmas '92 and it was great in the a funny way.Couldnt understand a word he was singing cause it was so loud but the atmosphere was great. That untill my mate got punched in the face and we ended up in a fight .

I saw and heard them live on a festival and I really don't like the voice of the frontman. He sings like he has been kicked in the balls. Not powerful or anything just on a key too high for his voice to reach.

I hope you had a lot of fun though !

I salute you,

My God, I have never ever attended a show which was so loud in my entire life. My body literally hurts from the bass. My ears are still squeezing.

There's not much else I can say. Saxon were opening and they sounded amazing. The volume was not yet turned that high up.The crowd was very much into their performance, the only problem was that I only knew like 3 or 4 of the songs they played.

When Motorhead came on stage the crowd went nuts. I have never seen such a killer crowd before. I am all impressed. The only time the people rested was when Motorhead play Whorehouse Blues, the first encore which is a bluesy acoustic song. Otherwise, I was in the middle of the moshpit. Jumping, pushing, crowd surfing...it was just crazy. Lemmy sounded almost like on record. Thumbs up for that and he is in an amazing shape. I've seen him on TV in the last couple of months and he looks much better in person. The set was quite nice, they played quite a bunch of songs from Motorizer, their latest album which I happen to like. A Thin Lizzy cover song done amazingly well. And quite a bunch of the classics. They opened with the song Motörhead and the crowd instantly went wild. After which, punch after punch after punch after punch. Absolutely no moment to rest for about 100 minutes.

Overall, nothing REALLY spectacular. Am glad Lemmy is alive and kicking. I'm glad to have been within 10 meters of where he was playing his bass as he is such a legend. Ace of Spades was my most intesne crowd surfing experience so far...I'm glad i made it out of there alive. It wasn't a big spectacle, just a big ****in' rock 'n' roll party. Take it for what it is, and there's no way you are not going to enjoy a Motorhead concert.

some pictures I have managed to take with my phone...I'm still happy it actually survived.

I'm so glad Vince Neil lost the beard.

I assume they played 'Rosalie' of Thin Lizzy because they played that one the last time I saw them in June of this year.

I salute you,
Thunderstrucker

Yeah, it was Rosalie. I must say though, initially, I thought it was Cold Sweat. It's only because they are so bloody loud...I am honestly considering seeing a doctor now.

Christ - I haven't been to a rock concert that loud in years - damn. That's what they used to be like - it would take you days to recover or to let your ears quit ringing. I hope you had a blast.

BTW - I like your avatar - there was none better.

UKjovi 11-19-2008 12:17 PM

It is amazing that Lemmy is still alive

Absolutely. I can only agree with you here.

Hahaha...it really is. I saw an interview with him recently where he was just as amazed as we are. He also said that most of his ex-girlfriends are now dead and only a few died because of him...or something like that. The man's got a great sense of humor. And he is definitely one of the greatest rock 'n' rollers ever.

Does any of you know when this took place and whether Lemmy actually sang or just played bass?

Any recording of that?
