I'm feeling a bit torn here.

My sister sent me through picture of her garden covered in snow i got a bit jealous

Then my brother e-mailed me saying he had a gig near edinburgh last night and it took 2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back when it should have been 45 mins each way and the temperature hit minus 12 on the way home.

I shall be making a point of swimming in the outdoor pool on christmas day just to say i've done it at least once in my life :D

I am the worst mate ever.

I bought one of my mates a present, right? First of all, I took it out of the box and used it myself. Then I didn't know how to put it all back into the box so when he see's it he's gonna know I've used it :(

Then I made a mess of wrapping it. I wrapped it in about 5 layers of wrapping paper. I ripped one of the corners so I got a big patch of grey gaffa tape and cover it over the hole.

Then I didn't have any tags so I got one of my old bus tickets and wrote my message on it <_> And the bus ticket actually had some old writing of mine on it that said "Films To Watch"

Then just to top it off, the wrapping paper said had a picture of Santa with "Ho! Ho! Ho!" written underneath him and I wrote under the Ho's "Nick! Nick! Nick".

When I gave it to him, boy did we have a laughing fit. Then my mum apologised to him for my stupidness :p :(

I think he's gonna take some picture of it because it's so crazy.

Chica Guacamole 12-23-2009 06:45 PM

Finally got back home for Christmas. It always amazes me how in Aberdeen, even though we have twice the amount of snow they do in Edinburgh, life still seems to go on up here and trains/buses etc all seem to rum on time :p

Now all I have to do is keep my present for my mum away from her- she's worse than a wee kid, I swear! Within 30 seconds of getting a hold of her presents, she has figured out what they are. She could run a workshop on it, but I want her to be surprised!

Ferret 12-24-2009 10:11 PM

Christmas tomorrow! fuck yeah!

Did the last of my Christmas shopping today. Got them for me mam, my dad, grandma, two aunts and my sister, plus a couple of mates, but I did that ages ago. However, I purchased my sister's present on amazon a few weeks ago, and it still hasn't come

Amazon you cunts! Pretty fucking obvious it's a Christmas present, yeah? Wankers. Now I'm going to look like a cunt on Christmas day <_<

But other than that catastrofuck, I'm feeling very Christmassy. In terms of choons, I've got my Christmas mixtape, Bob Dylan's Christmas In The Heart and A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector. Lots of the family are round. Gonna have a nice dinner in a min. Decorations up. Tis the season to be jolly :D

Jim Bon Jovi 12-25-2009 11:42 AM

Merry Christmas from the middle of the desert.

So far this morning I've:

woken up in the middle of my living room floor with the gaslight anthem blasting after last nights festivities (strange how that can happen in a country where booze is illegal!!!)

GONE FOR A SWIM OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!! **** yeah. not many Sctochenese people can say they've done that on Chrimbo morning?

Enjoyed a jacuzzi

Managed to break my mobile phone.

And in about half an hour I'm off to the rec for a big massive Christmas lunch where we're all making something and bringing it. I'm doing spicy tomato and pepper soup. :D

It's shaping up to be a nice day and I'm in an even better mood since I know for certain now that it'll be my 1st and only christmas in saudi.

oh yeah AND MY SISTER GOT ENGAGED

That calls for more living room floor juice :D

have a good one guys and gals. Don't feel too sorry for me ;)

UKjovi 12-25-2009 12:37 PM

I HAD A VERY BRUCEY CHRISTMAS. I FEEL LIKE MY PARENTS ARE GETTING THE POINT THAT I LIKE BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN.

Just wish they'd get the hint that I'm gay already.

Just kiddin'.

Kathleen 12-26-2009 11:51 PM

I'm still in recovery mode. There is a son's birthday and then Christmas - bang bang. Today I'm doing absolutely nothing and will reheat leftovers for dinner. Since the leftover is homemade lasagne it's not too much of a hardship :)

We have had a super good week here but last night I was so tired I went to bed early (for me) at 1:00 am. We have been averaging 3:30 - 4:00 am all week.

Tomorrow Vallie (from this board) will visit us and we will once again be NJ Tour Guides as much as the weather will allow.

I should mention that my son gave me a new computer with the Intel Core i7 processor. Holy craplola batman - the thing is blazing fast compared to what I've been using - and my old computer is only a year old and it was damn fast. This CPU is very impressive - especially considering the huge files I'm processing with it.

My husband's and my joint present to ourselves was the Samsung 8000 series monitor that is DLNA enabled so that I can play files straight off my network. No more burning DVDs to watch on the TV - just click on the screen - whoo hoo.

Hahahaha.

I didn't get one because my phone broke and I didn't plan on getting one so I asked for money to get one and I will have a look round in the next few days.

'Tis the season again. Put up the Christmas tree today, just so I can get it done with. Was anybody mad enough to go shopping yesterday? I went to WalMart at 5AM to get a TV, and it was mass chaos. Never again will I shop on the day after Thanksgiving.

It won't feel like Christmas season for me until it's actually December. However, when I look outside, it looks like it. :) We got about a foot and a half of snow this week, ugh. But that's what you get for living in Minnesota, and I can't picture Christmas without snow.

UKjovi 11-28-2010 12:14 PM

We went to the Towns switching on of the lights last night. So its all Christmasy here now. Mind you it was bloody freezing!

Kathleen 11-28-2010 10:10 PM

We started putting up some decorations in the house today. It's too early for the tree (in my opinion).

We got a start however and the house looks a bit warmer for the effort.

I don't remember why but in Argentina we used to put up the Christmas tree on December 8th. I know there was a reason probably religious but I can't remember. And I follow the tradition and do the same here.

I am almost done with the Christmas shopping, I have been buying things during the past weeks, I want to avoid the last min craziness but I am sure I will forget something.

liljovi93 11-29-2010 01:03 AM

Ordered my main present today :)

It hasn't snowed in Liverpool yet but we are MEANT to be getting it tomorrow.

Not going to put the tree up until next weekend I don't think, or the week after.

Irishshin 11-29-2010 07:41 PM

Looking forward to putting up our decorations.
Town's lights are up and on, they just suddenly appeared :)

No way near done shopping.
Have to get onto that!

Thomas Anderson 11-29-2010 08:10 PM

I've done most of my shopping now, just need to get a start on making cards (they take a while). We're apparently going to get snow overnight too, though I don't trust meteorologists.

Walkerboy 11-29-2010 11:57 PM

Present buying pretty much done. Kids presents have been wrapped and hidden away for 2 weeks......
Just got a few bits to grab for the wife in the next week or so. Can't leave it too late as I finish work for Xmas on the 10th!

2 sets of lights went up in the house today while I was at work. Rest of decorations will probably go up at the weekend.

Matrix15 11-30-2010 06:20 AM

Ah a Christmas thread. That's nice, I'm feeling rather festive. I can't find a horrendous xmas jumper for a tenner on ebay though, they're all like £40! :o

I think December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. And my mom thinks I'm a bad Catholic :-o

I have my tree up (it's artificial) because I'm trying to get my kitten used to the idea of a tree. Lord knows my mom will freak if he tries to climb the Christmas tree at her place. I have a few presents bought, but I'm not really into Christmas mode yet. Bit hard when the temperature is in the double digits and raining today.

Irishshin 11-30-2010 03:45 PM

Snowed here today
And then just for good measure a little bit of rain
So scared to drive home!!! Cars sliding all over the place! Not cool.

Kinda hoping it will stop, and then snow again when I am on holdiays :)

Does feel more Christmassy though :P

Did you take photos of the snow? :D

Jim Bon Jovi 11-30-2010 08:06 PM

Got the day off work today and by the looks of things won't be there tomorrow either.

Good in the sense that I don't need to go to work, bad in the sense that I won't be paid for it :(

Panda 11-30-2010 09:22 PM

Your all pansies. Theres been a foot of snow on the ground here since the beggining of November and it will stay that way till the end of March/early April. Get Winter Tires....

Irishshin 11-30-2010 09:29 PM

Its ok if your country is prepared for snow.
Unfortunatly here is not, they ran outta grit for the roads back in Jan
And they don't grit all the roads.

Don't think they have heard of winter tyres here :D
We never needed them!

Wouldn't mind being off work, even if I didn't get paid for it! Lol
I do hope it snows at Chrismtas though.
Been years since that happened.

Aside from the fact it took me well over an hour to travel 3 miles this morning, the place I work just now has bad enough roads to drive when it's bone dry and there's been more than a few people come off and fell right into the valley over the years. My shitty little 1.1l Saxo wouldn't stand a chance and I wasn't going to bother my ass trying.

Irishshin i have had a really nice and rather productive day all things considered. Finally finished a huge book I've been reading, played some guitar, did my yoga x workout and still found time to watch daytime junk TV :)

Yesterday i actually made it to work then got sent home, I should get paid for that, today I've no chance but I do need the cash with it being Xmas and all.

Irishshin 11-30-2010 11:58 PM

You should DEF get paid for going in and getting sent home
Thats not cool, not getting paid for that!
