So I was watching Bon Jovi on MTV Hd

and it was fantastic seeing the band live in HD...However....

the first 2 songs were WSYCGH and Lost Highway and it suddenly it hit me how poor these songs (and last 2 albums) have been compaired to say.....Guns N' Roses's Chinese Democracy.

I really feel that Jon & Co need to up their game for the next album and not keep giving us these sub-standard releases.

Maybe its becuase im not listening to Jovi at the moment but these songs bored me?

views?

Hmm.. Don't know what to say really. I think we all know that the band need to up their game a bit but maybe your just going off BJ? I really don't know.

but you also need to remember it didn't take jon n richie in the region of 15 years to produce those albums/songs.

... And, while I would hate it to be 15 years til the next Bon Jovi album, I think this is an indication that they should take a little time and care over the next album

Although then again, the four awesome albums from '86 - '95 (six if you include solo) were probably all made really quickly, so what do I know?

I don't get why you say theyre "poor" songs. Lyrically and instramentally theyre amazing. There might not be amazing guitar solo's or complicated riffs, but it's put together well. The only reason it sounded bad was because this was filmed just days before Richie went into rehab and it was also an acoustic only set. It was definatly one of the worst live performances I have seen though. Don't let that performance throw you off the ball.

I own Chinese Democracy, and having listened to it several times, the only good songs on it are the title track and Shackler's Revenge....

But then again, you have you're own opinion, and I have mine. And also I am the only one here who thinks both Lost Highway and HAND are in the top half of the best Bon Jovi albums.

Probably because he doesn't like them.;)

FWIW I love Lost Highway (the song) and have a real soft spot for that album. But HAND is the album I will always defend (My other favourite albums don't require much defending here), it was my Slippery as I've probably mentioned a few times by now.

that guns album has a few real good tracks - better, street of dreams, chinese democracy, this i love, catcher in the rye.

that unplugged performance is quite heartbreaking, hate seeing richie - my hero - basically motionless :S
will say jon puts in a great vocal though, he just about salvaged the recording for me.
