I did think of you and your less than stellar experience when I was writing that, Brian. I guess that was the price you had to pay for being close. Back in the "cheap seats" where the rest of us were, things were pretty relaxed!

Simon 10-16-2009 03:41 PM

Ok, I believe being in CP was a great experience. It's just I would prefer stuff from other shows to be released, songs from three shows in NY wouldn't make much sense to me after they had such a good European tour.

But since I've seen the trailer I'm really looking forward to the MSG DVD. Happy to see "Blood On Blood" on there, it's my current favourite song.
I'm just hoping - praying - keeping the faith - they don't let us down with the tracklist. "Living In Sin", "Always", "Dry County"... please, pretty please!!!

And as I said - I can order the Bon Jovi Blu Ray from elsewhere - Japan even has the same region codes as we do. The decisions that this record company makes boggle my mind some days.

I guess I will do the same if I have to.

I just picked up the R30 DVD a few months ago, but I admit I haven't watched it. It's kind of annoying knowing that it should be in HD, which is how I will feel if I pick up the MSG show on DVD....I've been holding on to my DVR copy of the HD version of R30 from Palladia. The fact the Blu Ray will also finally be the entire show puts it over the moon and I can finally make some room on my DVR.

MSG DVD Release set for 20-Nov-09

Just saw this on official bon jovi website:

http://www.bonjovi.com/story/news-ba...n_november_9th

In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Bon Jovi are going to perform their current single “We Weren’t Born To Follow” as the unofficial song of Germany’s “Fest der Freiheit” on November 9! The historic event at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate will also mark the band’s first performance of their current single on German television!

“We Weren’t Born To Follow” is dedicated to all those who fight for freedom even in the face of adversity

In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Bon Jovi are going to perform their current single “We Weren’t Born To Follow” at “Fest der Freiheit,” a commemorative event taking place at Brandenburg Gate on November 9, 2009. The title of the current single – “We Weren’t Born To Follow” – is a battle cry reminiscent of the “We are the people” chants one could hear during the entire time of the GDR’s collapse. According to singer Jon Bon Jovi, the band’s hymn to freedom is dedicated to the ones who stand up for their ideals even in the face of adversity, thus making major historic events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall possible in the first place. His intention was to honor the voice of the voiceless, the 47-year-old singer continued. In fact, Bon Jovi couldn’t have chosen a bolder statement than the current single: “Music can transcend borders and language to connect people to one another.“

You can watch the official video for “We Weren’t Born To Follow” here: http://go.universal-music.de/bonjovi/full/video/219318/

When the band was formed in 1983, the Berlin Wall was the ultimate symbol for a divided world and the Cold War. Yet the fact that the “iron curtain” could ultimately be removed, affected the singer deeply: “For more than a quarter of a century, I have performed in both the former east and what is now unified Germany. The band has shared many memories with the German fans – but none as momentous as the fall of the Berlin Wall.”

According to his own statement, he will never forget standing at Checkpoint Charlie for the first time in 1986. The border official who checked his passport at the time was about his age – so Jon could literally see the huge gap between what happened on both sides of the Wall. Three years later the singer took a piece of the Wall he chipped off himself, which he kept ever since as a reminder: even though walls can separate us geographically, they can’t conceal the fact that we’re all human beings sharing similar dreams and desires.

With a lyric such as “you got to stand up for what you believe” (from the current single) the band pays tribute to the reform movement in the former GDR, who set everything in motion and eventually put an end to the Cold War. At the same time, the current airplay-hit “We Weren’t Born To Follow” gives a first taste of their forthcoming “The Circle” album, the band’s tenth studio recording, to be released October 30, 2009 in Germany.

As its title suggests, “The Circle” marks a powerful reassertion of Bon Jovi’s commitment to the hard-hitting, uplifting rock & roll that has been the band’s indelible signature since it began. Yet, according to the singer, the album title has various meanings. The latest one is clearly, that Jon and the rest of the band have come full circle since that unforgettable moment at Berlin’s Checkpoint Charlie 23 years ago…

Bon Jovi’s new studio album, “The Circle,” was produced by John Shanks, who also worked with the band on the two preceding albums, “Lost Highway” (2007) and “Have a Nice Day” (2005). Just like the current single, the entire album has an underlying positive theme that is apparent throughout the songs: Whether it’s questioning your vitality or asking what the future holds, the songs are about the prospect of people having to find new directions in their lives. In these trying times every word relays the truth.

Furthermore, on November 20, a new live DVD entitled “Live At Madison Square Garden” will be released. Recorded during the “Lost Highway 2008 Tour,” fans get to experience the band in front of an impressive backdrop: the sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York City. Said tour was ranked as 2008’s #1 top-selling tour around the world according to Billboard.

Bon Jovi has set the standard for 25 years as one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Globally, the Grammy Award-winning band has sold more than 120 million albums and performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans. Their last album, “Lost Highway,” debuted at #1 in Germany, the US and around the world. The next tour is scheduled for 2010.

Crushgen24/88 10-22-2009 08:17 PM

On the webcast, Race Taylor (the world's most annoying DJ) said that a live DVD would be out "before the holidays" so we i the US should be getting it this year, if not November 20th.

Bleeding Purist 10-23-2009 05:27 AM

It looks like there is going to be a preview of the MSG dvd following the premiere of When We Were Beautiful on Showtime this Saturday. While setting up my DVR, there is a 10 minute slot scheduled directly after the documentary for Bon Jovi MSG.

Not sure if this is old news, but just in case.

Crushgen24/88 10-25-2009 04:37 AM

The footage shown after the doc looked good. From a visual standpoint, it'll be their best. Not saying performance or ability.0

Esther 10-25-2009 04:38 AM

Now I am no expert, but it didn't look over dubbed either. Most of the footage they showed tonight was in the documentary thou.

Live from London will never be beaten in any of those categories.

Performance-wise, and ability-wise it won't, and aura-wise it's second to none. The band at their absolute live peak. Visually it can though. It's got a grain to it, and the transfer from VHS to DVD sucks.

Plus this will be in Blu-ray, so that helps also!!

Hopefully due to their stature we actually will see the day London is remastered and released on Blu Ray or whatever suitable high def format. AC/DC did it....with two of their shows. Of course hopefully we ge the full show next time.

Has anyone seen it listed yet on play.com or amazon?

Just downloaded the two preview videos from MSG.

Pretty disappointed with the direction, way too many crowd shots (who wants to see thousands of housewives clamber over each other all the time?)

During the LOAP solo the camera stays on Jon for the duration as he walks over to the crowd, Richie doesn't get a look in.

It's a f*cking Bon Jovi DVD, we want to see the band performing!

where'd you get the previews from? can't find any on youtube :S

Ton Bon Jovi 10-26-2009 09:07 PM

I say IML and LOAP from MSG and there is some overdubbing at the start of LOAP. I really hate that. The rest of the videos were alright. I like the fact that there are lots of audience shots.

nikos greece 10-26-2009 09:22 PM

Unfortunately live from london wont be beaten, but i trully believe that msg will come close, the guys were on fire that night and the setlist is full of gems...
I absolutely love the crowd shots, especially when the camera manages to capture genuine responses from the fans,i also find it really uplifting to see a sold out place be in its toes.Live from london had a lot crowd shots as well.
I know that msg is historic place but i always prefer to see them rock sold out stadiums...i hope they will film the opening of the new meadowlands stadium...although its far too early to dream for the next dvd release...:grab:

Bleeding Purist 10-26-2009 09:39 PM

MSG will mark the first Bon Jovi live video release that captures a show at a U.S. Arena. It's been long overdue. I don't think the point is to compare the two. Having a show from London and show from N.Y. just sweetens their catalog of work postively.

I love crowd shots on Live DVDs. Of course not, when Richie's solo isn't shown. But nothing is more horrible than a Live DVD without seeing the crowd properly... and there are tons of them out there. So it might be a good thing for me.

Those bonus tracks are weird. Why would they leave those three songs out of the main set? This better come out in the U.S.
