I hear what you're saying but there is no way that crowd was lifeless. I was there too. That concert was bootlegged (audio and video) and you can hear the audience roaring throughout the whole thing. I'm sure the official release has minimized the audience participation.

I was probably the only lifeless thing there. I was so sick by the second night that I really wasn't sure I'd make it through the show. But besides me, the crowds both nights were anything but lifeless!

No offense but on what I saw on the 20 minute preview of MSG the crowd seemed dead during most songs, even on the ones like Raise Your Hands and Born To Be My Baby. A loud crown on an American show is an average crowd for any European show. It'll always come across as lifeless to us.

How many U.S. shows have you been to, Seb?

None, but I've seen shitloads of DVD's from American shows. I know there's a difference between being there and seeing it on TV but when a crowd is just standing there in front of their seat and occasionally pumps it's fists in the air (American crowd) or is doing it all the time, jumping up and down, singing all the words (Europe/South America etc.) it becomes pretty obvious. And apart from that, everyone from Europe who has been to an American show says the same I do. Thierry told me the DVD's don't lie, and he's seen the band perform at Giants.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

bonjovifreak 11-11-2009 02:25 AM

According to VH1 the release date is DEC 1st for us Americans.I have been at shows where the people around me have been dead and I'm like why are you even here.I remember when I went crazy over Dry County other people were like WTF is that.Terri and I kinda looked at each other like is this what I think it is and then went crazy.

Sometimes things like that are subjective.I know I wasn't dead.

Holy crap man what a useless poster you are.

I'm looking forward to the dvd, probably the only new BJ release that I'm gonna buy

BobbyJovi 11-12-2009 01:39 AM

What's useless is people complaining all the time, the same people.
At the moment there is a cd out,a doco,a book and a tour coming up and people are worried about set lists and how the crowds apparently looked dead at certain concerts.Wow.
Just be grateful that you'll get to see the show.
The only gripe anybody should have on here is the ticket prices.

Crushgen24/88 11-12-2009 01:45 AM

Granted, I've never been to a Euro show, but it's always looked to me like Euro crowds are much more physical in their participation at concerts, so I can see how American crowds can look "dead." That being said, the MSG Crowds were nowhere near dead last year.

davidbow1e 11-12-2009 05:46 AM

I agree, that everyone here is finding reasons to complain, its pointless now, because we all know how the Jovi machine functions. Personally, i'm not the most 'amped' person at a concert. I like going, sitting down, drinking, and watching a good band perform. I don't need to get all "OH MY GOD ITS JON OR RICHIE!!" and jump up and down. I will get up and sing with songs occasionally, yes, but i prefer to be seated to enjoy what I paid for.

ticos_stick 11-12-2009 11:59 AM

Being at an American show looks like visiting a cinema or the opera.

There's hardly any dancing or jumping around, lots of people milling around buying snacks and most importantly poor crowd interaction. You can hardly hear the crowd singing, this was very evident on the MSG previews.

Also and maybe the biggest factor, the European crowds are way younger and consist of more or less a 50/50 male to female ratio. American crowds are older and more womanier (Not a word I know :p )

There's nothing wrong with either experience, just one feels better in my opinion.

Just fill in any e-mail adress you can think of, it doesn't even have to be a valid one, and you can watch the snippets of every song.

Thanks Mo - yes that was a hell of a good crowd. And I was there too :)

But to be honest there are differences, even between audiences in New York and New Jersey so I'm sure there are large differences between a European crowd and a US crowd.

I just don't think that we can be condemned as a "dead" audience.

Mongoose 11-13-2009 01:19 PM

Woo, Carli sent me a text saying its only a tenner on play.. Shame the mod seem to hate play.com and it's blocked at work. Have to wait till I'm home next week to order it

RS8MB0R8 11-13-2009 04:11 PM

Wow! Blu-ray on play.com for only £11.99! Thanks Goose (and Carli)!

Add to basket!.... :D

When a movie or a concert is released both DVD and BLU RAY are released at same time just read somewhere that the BLU RAY version will have the additional bonus of documentary in blu ray format

Ahhhh, but that's very misleading.

That video is taken from a camcorder that was in the middle of a bunch of people singing.

Not really - there is an entire video bootleg of that MSG show and the entire show is like that. There wasn't an ass in a seat that night. Maybe because it had been a long while since Jovi had played the Garden.

RazielSR 11-17-2009 01:36 PM

I have pre-ordered the blu-ray edition from play.com! I suppose it is Region 2¿? I hope to see fantastic video quality!

Adam D 11-17-2009 09:45 PM

The lack of info on this in the U.S. is very frustrating. It's still not up for pre-order on Amazon for instance. You'd think that if it were being released on December 1st, we would at least be able to pre-order it by now.

yes, I have that bootleg thanks to you. The crowd drowned the band out on a lot of songs, it's awesome!!! :)

I don't see the Blu-Ray up for pre-order, only the DVD...

steel_horse75 11-19-2009 10:25 AM

i thought i read somewhere that that non-blu ray has the 3 bonus tracks.

so you pay more for blu-ray and lose 3 songs - nice.

Also what has pissed me off is its meant to be a celebration of 25 years yet theres nothing from the first two albums. Shame.
