so you pay more for blu-ray and lose 3 songs - nice.

Also what has pissed me off is its meant to be a celebration of 25 years yet theres nothing from the first two albums. Shame.

not according to hmv look at the tracklisting

Quick question,

Is this blu-ray region code free? I'm thinking of ordering from Play.com but want to be sure it'll work in my US player.

I havent come across any BLU ray that has a regional code

amit

RazielSR 11-20-2009 10:54 AM

I'd like to know that too (I have preordered from play.com). Anyway I suppose the blu-ray edition in play is gonna be region 2 (Europe) so I won't have problems.

tigrs99 Are you sure the blu-rays have not region codes?

I got my copy (DVD version) today and watched it. The menu options are ""Play Concert", "Songs", "Audio Setup" and "Bonus Songs".

No extra bonus features unfortunately :(.

The concert is great though. Sucks that YGLABAN, Runaway and Bed of Roses arent part of the main concert. Also I think they should have put Bad Medicine in it. But ah well it was a good watch. The live audio of Bad Medicine can be heard during the credits.

Thierry 11-20-2009 02:54 PM

I'm just quickly checking the DVD. And I am absolutely shocked they left in Dry County - since Jon sounds terrible on that one. A good overdub would do..Also why doesn't Richie do the backing vocals in that one?

Any stand out songs?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc#Region_codes

I have bought tons of Blu Rays and not one of them has a regional code
I dont think Sony and Universal Records put regional codes
Among BLU Ray makers only 20th Century Fox puts regional codes
and as per stats about 75% of Blu rays released are region free
and I havent seen any site mentioning this BLURAY is locked
Also checked Amazon UK saus both DVD and BLU Ray all regions

Savvi 11-20-2009 03:54 PM

Yeah the vocals on Dry County were a bit of a stretch. Same with Always. But man the solo of Dry County was great.

For me, Blood on Blood was great even though the first verse and chorus was sung accoustically.

The crowd goes off with It's My Life which is to be expected.

Dont know why Chapel Of Love is listed on the back cover as one of the songs performed. Only 1 chorus is performed right at the end of Living in Sin. Its all over in seconds.

The intro guitar strums of Have A Nice Day missed the accoustic guitar but that was only minor.

Was great to have Richie perform I'll Be There For You. His voice is just amazing.

Whole Lot of Leavin surprisingly goes well, as does We Got it Goin On.

Hallelujah was beautiful. Dave on the keys and Jons vocals goes over really nicely.

All in all a great DVD. One thing which did bug me a little though was the few shots of Jon in between songs when he was wiping his face or getting a drink and the lights were off. A crowd shot wouldve been much better. I also think that the shot of Jon coming off stage as Richie took the lead vocals was uneccessary. But again, these are just minor things.

Oh and one other thing... I really really really wish Lay Your Hands On Me was performed. It's one of my favourite live songs.

jon's vocal on this version of dry county is just the same as all the other performed in this tour. dry county on LH tour is better than on Hand tour.
it's not like '93 era of course. in '95 jon could sing dry county more easily but he was a little colder.

in this kind of song the instrumental part is very important: this version is amazing instrumentally.

richie has never done the backvocals on dry county since Hand tour: i don't know why. maybe because he can't.

Just got an email from play.com saying my Blu-Ray has shipped!!! :D

Ton Bon Jovi 11-20-2009 09:10 PM

Bought mine today as well and I think it's a great dvd. I played it from start to finish and absolutely loved it. Finally a great BJ dvd in decent quality. I love Always, I'll Be There For You, Hallelujah, Keep The Faith. Dry County isn't the best, but nice it's on the dvd. This one will be in my dvd player for the next weeks :-)

Thierry 11-21-2009 12:11 PM

It looks like you are on the DVD, Deb. There are quite a few shots of you during Blood on Blood :).

shame he didn't do These Days on the dvd which he did for the UK shows it was amazing

ticos_stick 11-21-2009 05:16 PM

It's a good DVD. Still think the direction is a bit all over the place though.

I just watched 'Always' on youtube and can't believe that they released the DVD with a version like that on it, especially when they played so many better versions of it at other shows.

The vocals are pretty hit and miss and Richie plays completely the wrong chord during the second verse. The first time round when it's supposed to go to the A, he plays the G# early and it stands out a mile.

He also didn't double the keys during the bridge before the second solo. ;)

Yikes - it's not out here yet but I remember that from listening to the boot. I figured that they could fix it in post production LOL.

Is the version you watched on you tube a cut from the dvd or the bootleg version?

Yes, but if they do "fix" anything, people here scream bloody murder.

You're damned if you do - and damned if you don't LOL

I even remember Jon telling everyone to calm down - that they all had DVDitis so there were quite a few mistakes on night 1.

I'm assuming it's from the official release as the video has actually been uploaded by bonjovi.com as an advertising trailer. Both 'Prayer' and 'Always' have been uploaded.

I would have thought they'd have fixed it too, especially given how long it's taken to release the concert but it is true that the puritans would demand that it should be left in and would shout about it if they'd cheated.

EDIT: Here's the link:

;)

Wrath Mania 11-21-2009 11:51 PM

I know everyone's gonna say, "Oh great, there goes ol' Bob bitching about the second night at MSG again", but I really really wish they released some Europe show instead; Jon just sounds so weak on Always compared to how he sung the song during the height of the Euro-tour, and that version of Prayer is pretty soulless. Honestly, I would rather have just gotten the Rock in Rio show on DVD; sure, no rarities, but that was a damn electric show. First of all, it's pissing me off how they're pretending the MSG show was one epic concert, when it was really one good night and then one mediocre night. Secondly, the environment just feels so... artificial.

bonjovi90 11-22-2009 12:05 AM

I haven't received the DVD yet, but with regard to the best tour show...they should have put out either Frankfurt or Amsterdam. During both shows Richie was really on fire, and Jon was the ****in' rockstar whose voice sounded immensely. Additionally, Always in Amsterdam was brilliant! Maybe the best on the entire tour.

milomom 11-22-2009 02:06 AM

They don't just decide what show to release after the fact, folks. When they're going to release a show on DVD, they have a whole different set-up for cameras.

mo_rizwan 11-22-2009 03:50 AM

Can someone please put Dry County on YouTube?

I won't be getting this till early next month.

I do like the outro solo in this version though!

hackster73 11-22-2009 01:19 PM

Yeah, that version of always is pretty lame. So may better performances than that one.

Great setlist but not the best performance.

Javier 11-22-2009 05:43 PM

They should just film a whole tour for DVD quality next time and let the fans decide which show they want release! :)
The show with the most votes wins!!!
ok that's a bit of a strectch but can you imagine that idea, it's like awesome and cool rolled into one. coolsome!! or awecooles
