Got mine on Blu-ray and I must say there are some fantastic performances on it. 'I'll Be There For You', 'Blaze Of Glory' and 'Always' are the ones that stand out so far.

I mean just the dvd not the blue ray edition. Which has got the 2 dvds included on it? Just the dvd or just the blue ray edition? |
As far as I know there's one DVD and two Blue-rays (one including the documentary).

I got this yesterday and I was pretty disappointed to be honest. I was excited when I saw the setlist but the performances aren't great. I never thought I'd say this about Richie as I idolise the guy but he sounds really sloppy here and messes up a lot of the solos. He also really over sings in a cheesy cliched blues rock way on IBTFY.
Jon sings ok on some songs but is painful on others. Also not sure about the bonus songs, surely if they were actually part of that concert then they should be on the main feature. It's not really a bonus to get songs that we really should have got anyway. Why were they left out when the hideous version of Living In Sin was included? Why do Bon Jovi always do this with live DVD's? It was the same with Live In London where huge chunks of the show were left off. Just give us the full show and maybe even an accompanying live double cd album like most bands do. I only watched it once so may be being harsh but once again it seems like we have got a bare minimum release, no frills at all, no extras, just the show with some songs left out, not been lovingly put together at all. I suppose like Jon says (in a roundabout way), they're not a band of the people anymore, just a large multi-national corporation. Suffice to say I will not be making the long trek to the 02 Arena, if it's corporate fans they want, then that's what they will get and their shows will be all the poorer for it. If they announce dates in the North of England then I will go, as long as tickets are not ridiculously expensive but if they don't and can't be bothered travelling then neither can I. People in the UK stuck by Bon Jovi in the 90's when America tired of them and this is how they repay us? |
I love Bed Of Roses from that night.
Jon looks like he is singing it without looking in pain and is walking around, shaking hands etc... Really good DVD, IMO. |
Can someone ask Obie about Central Park?
He did mention before that he was doing a bit of mixing with that show. |

My guess is that there's two versions of the DVD, on with just concert footage and a two-disc version with the doc on the second disc. Having said that, I can't recall seeing a two-disc version advertised anywhere and only know about the standard and deluxe editions of "The Circle". The standard edition, you just get the album but with the deluxe edition, you get the album plus the doc. Is this where the confusion's coming in? |
For me...
Great performance: blaze of glory (bettere than 93 and 95 version) blood on blood born to be my baby bad name (the chorus is very powerful. This part "and you PLAY your game" it's not usual for Jon to sing with this energy Very Good performance: Always Dry county Halleluja I'll be there for you Keep the faith Bed of roses Only Wanted sounds awful for me. |
Anyone else think the cover is crap?
Looks like it has been printed off. |

It maybe that they produced one pic for DVD and then just rescaled it for the Blu-Ray sleeve, which may have changed the print quality. |
Shame Bluray hadnt been invented for the LIL DVD, now that would have looked fantasic. I knew MSG would get messed up along the way, what do you expect from someone who gave us the One wild night CD.

I actually think this is a very good DVD. Of course it isn't perfect, but the fact that I now have an official release of 'Living In Sin', 'Dry County' and the stunning 2008 rendition of 'Blaze Of Glory' makes me really happy.

Another great piece of Obies work. I just cant find out how twisted he is.
1. Video: Great 2. Audio: Good 3. Being able to actually hear where its overdubbed: Sucks 4. Born to be my baby to Blaze: Sucks 5. Removing 3 songs of the mainset and putting them as bonus on the dvd: Sucks 6. Medicine playing while credits are rolling and faded out after 3 minutes: Sucks In my eyes Obie is more retarded with every thing he produces/mixes. What is that guy a complete failure on making proper mixes of audio and video. I'll be able to enjoy the DVD more then Crush since the audio is better but what a poor mix again. Pity. Fire Obie. I salute you, TS |

Anyway i quite like the dvd and can see myself watching this quite often! |
I think the DVD artwork is alright. Nothing special exactly but I've seen much worse.
|
Right for those of you who can watch it, something I picked up on today which shows the absolute pointlessness they went to when editing the footage.
Watch Jon's leg stamping at the start of Prayer. No shit - when you get the three camera angles, the middle one has him stamping with his right leg whilst the other two are stamping his left. Before you rip me for over-analysing, the song starts with a close up of his left leg stamping in time with the beat so it's fairly easy to follow it and notice. WTF?!? I mean seriously, why?!?! What was the need to use the two nights' footage for all of 10secs of song? Obie really doesn't do anything does he... except for the work that he makes for himself. |
Is the blu-ray encoded for region 2 only or is it region free???
I'll import if it's region free, since there's no US Blu Ray release.... |
This is a difficult one, I have lots of official music concert DVD's and very few are perfect.
Either the editing, mix, chosen venue, atmosphere etc. There is always something. The problem here is that this DVD suffers all these flaws IMO. I would rather watch the bootleg to some degree as the show flows better. I hate the way they patched it together and have marketed this as if it was one special show. The average fan could very well expect that type of set list if they have never been to a JOVI show before. |
I could have made up the DVD set list better. This is how I would have done it from both shows:
1. Lost Highway 2. Born to Be My Baby 3. You Give Love a Bad Name 4. Runaway 5. Blaze of Glory 6. Living In Sin / Chapel of Love 7. Whole Lot Of Leavin' 8. In These Arms 9. Always 10. We Got It Goin' On 11. It's My Life 12. Keep the Faith 13. I'll Be There For You 14. Blood on Blood 15. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night 16. Dry County 17. Have A Nice Day 18. Who Says You Can't Go Home 19. Bad Medicine 20. Hallelujah 21. Wanted Dead or Alive 22. Livin' on a Prayer 22 songs is probaly realistic and this surely would flow better. The bonus stuff should have been from the Central Park show. |
I'm a bit disappointed by the DVD / Blu-Ray, the song order is rubbish, the audio sounds very over produced and the extras are pants!
The picture quality is brilliant and I loved the performance of Dry County, the HD Concert they did for WOWWOW TV in Tokyo last year (Available on the net) completely blows this away and is 100 times better! |
Got mine yesterday. This was also the first time I bought a music Blu-ray instead of a DVD.
Amazing picture quality, absolutely great. As a Bon Jovi concert video I think it´s ok, not groundbreaking. As many have said before, I don´t like the mixing up of the set list. No way BOG would be the 3rd song. A classic like Bad Name shouldn´t be just a bonus track. BOB sounded fresh. I´ve never seen JB singing the song without an acoustic guitar, just running around with the microphone :D Hallelujah was a very strong and convincing vocal performance by Jon, it´s one of my all-time favorite covers by BJ. I´ve just seen it once so far. Didn´t hear the mistake on the second verse of Always (G sharp instead of A?), though. I´ll have to listen to it more carefully, according to the posts in here it´s quite obvious? |

I think something like that happens on HAND. Richie does his solo and Jon is holding the mic by his guitar, and then it does a different camera view and Jon is getting a drink and then the next thing he is back in the same place in the matter of half a second. |
