Ugh - The Tokyo shows were ****ing atrocious and made me wish WOWOW were as anal about copyright on Youtube as some other networks. Lowest point of the tour.

bonjovi90 11-28-2009 10:38 AM

The Tokyo show was just awful! The MSG shows still aren't fantastic, but miles better than he WOWOW broadcast!

LMAO! Yeah, at least the leg-stamping was subtle and fairly insignificant. The HAND solo is a complete botch up in the editing department. :)

There are a few times I've noticed stuff like this on the dvd. It's ridiculous.

tigrs99 11-29-2009 03:47 PM

It looks like all the songs have been edited, I recorded the songs on the IPHONE
and the time length of each song is different whats on the DVD

amit

Savvi 11-30-2009 03:19 AM

The DVD has debuted at #4 on the Australian DVD Music Charts. Out done by P!nk, Kings of Leon and a various artist concert DVD.

ticos_stick 11-30-2009 06:41 PM

The DVD feels way too polished and predictable. Most of the camera angles are repeated over and over again and are taken from the big screen footage. Tico is shot the whole time from a mounted camera which after a while becomes boring, Dave is barely shown. It's still decent on the whole but as with most of their 00's output, it could have been a whole lot better.

And as for the track listing...... who the hell is making these decisions?

Well yeah - there are several audio and video bootlegs of this show. The comparison makes the edits obvious.

For me this overdubs are decent and "light": i think this is the standard around dvd world.

Jon sings very well, but i don't like how Richie plays many solo: always, wanted, prayer, hand, born to be my baby...these solos are really dirty and inaccurate. richie played much better on tokyo wowow 2008

No no no, that was a really terrible show :(

gabriele 11-30-2009 09:44 PM

Jon's and Richie's voices were horrible, probably because of a flu (certainly for Richie).
But that night Richie played very well: listen to the solos in btmb, hand, die for u, prayer, etc.

I really like the sound mix of the dvd, but it's also true that richie's guitar is a little low.

I can't believe that richie messed up the most famous solos: prayer, wanted for example.

hackster73 12-01-2009 12:46 AM

After listening to the new DVD for a few times a few things I just dont get:

1. Why not leave Bad Name in, slotted between BTBMB and Blaze. There seems no reason why it's not there??

2. Stupid choice for the extras, why not have something from Central Park?

3. Why have Bad Medicing playing in the credits, they could have ended it with WWWB, that would have given the casual fan something new?

4. They should have also left in Runaway in, I would have rather had that than Raise Your Hands?

If I had my way then this would be it:

1. Lost Highway
2. Born To Be My Baby
3. You Give Love A Bad Name
4. Blaze Of Glory
5. It's My Life
6. Keep The Faith
7. Runaway
8. Living In Sin~Chapel Of Love
9. Always
10. Whole Lot Of Leavin'
11. In These Arms
12. We Got It Going On
13. I'll Be There For You (Richie)
14. (You Want To) Make A Memory
15. Blood On Blood
16. Dry County
17. Have A Nice Day
18. Who Says You Can't Go Home
19. Hallelujah
20. Wanted Dead Or Alive
21. Livin' On A Prayer
22. Credits~When We Were Beautiful

Is That better?

I know they would have to do a mix with Runaway because it follows on from Captain Crash but the could have done it.

 Not to defend this DVD, but you do realize what you're perceiving as "messing up" is just Richie playing the solos a little differently, something he does every night, especially when he's in form, right?

bonjovifreak 12-01-2009 04:55 AM

I just looked on Amazon. They have a Dec 8th release date for the blu-ray with a price of $43.49. That's crazy. That price better go down.

Crushgen24/88 12-01-2009 05:01 AM

I haven't seen it yet, but I really have to say, I don't get why people are upset about the song selection. Every quasi-rarity played on both nights is there.

Belzik 12-01-2009 05:37 AM

That price is just ridiculous, I have never seen a price that high for a single blu-ray in my life, list price is $61.99, give me a break. Thats gotta be a mistake.

I agree completely.
Anyway, I do like this disc a lot.

Makedde 12-04-2009 06:31 AM

I managed to get my hands on this DVD just today. Cost me $25 and looks pretty good. I am hoping the music is well worth it, too.

Adam D 12-05-2009 10:22 AM

I'd just like to say that I HATE when, during Whole Lot Of Leavin, the crowd thinks the "I turn around and ask you, do we got it anymore?" lyric is somehow referring to the band and gives all the women who are only there for Jon's ass a change to scream and that Jon GOES ALONG WITH IT!

In reality, it was written as a poignant point in the song where a man is asking his partner if the relationship is still worth fighting for. I love that song so it really burns me up when a powerful and great moment is ruined by the audience totally misinterpreting the purpose of the lyrics.

yomamasofat 12-05-2009 02:24 PM

Just got mine today. On the cover, Bad Medicine is printed. But it's not in the DVD. I think I have a lawsuit here, what do ya think?

Yes it is a painful song I remember band saying it was written to things Richie were going through that time losing father divorce and all that shit definitely not a song to be screaming about

Agreed. Very much a cheap shot, and throws away the meaning of the song. Oh well, now the Lost Highway tour is over, we hopefully won't have to put up with it as much.

RS8MB0R8 12-05-2009 05:45 PM

To be honest, the band are probably happy for an audience to find their own meaning to the song and it's lyrics. It was a difficult time for Richie when it was written but time heals and I doubt he (or the band) would mind the fans putting a more positive take on the lyrics to what was originally intended. It doesn't change the meaning of the song to them so that's the main thing.

ticos_stick 12-05-2009 07:42 PM

Jon sets up the lyric "I turn around and ask you, do we got it anymore?" differently for the live show. He sings the line and gives the crowd this cheesy knowing look, waits for the crowd to cheer and brings the band in again.

Jon did this every night of the tour, nothing to do with the crowd.

Bleedingguitar 12-05-2009 07:54 PM

I haven't got the DVD but I watched the HD version of blood on blood on youtube which has got to be ripped from the blu-ray.

Im a bit dissapointed at the editing because I feel they are not focusing on Tico for the prominent drum parts. For instance 5:08 to 5:15. Tico also ends the song and I really think that should have been shown rather than watching Jon not singing.

Oh, don't talk to me about the editing.

On some songs you can hear Tico playing some blinding fills & rolls but the camera is focused on Jon's foot

And how about KTF when Richie finishes his solo and acts as though the guitar is a gun? they choose to show Jon doing his white man dance...

Frustrating to say the least.

Bleedingguitar 12-05-2009 08:37 PM

^^Yeah sometimes you feel that the powers that be don't get the fact that we are fans of Bon Jovi, not just Jon Bon Jovi.

Agreed. This is strictly a Jon thing. The audience wouldn't take it that way if he didn't stop the song as if he's asking the audience if the band still has it. It's a cute little moment the first time you see it but it really brings down what the song is about.

How annoying is that!

I love it when Richie does that and they just focused on Jon!

Jon Bon Jovi IS Bon Jovi. Stop moaning. Have you seen him from 92/95? Lovely. :)

Hahahaha, fair enough ;)

Was watching Blood On Blood again earlier ... best performance of it in a LONG time?

Thats the best part of Keep The faith when Richie does that
Too bad it has been edited

Thats what powers to be think that JBJ is Bon Jovi. Imagine going to a Bon Jovi show without Richie Sambora you can tell the difference in the shows. You can check YT video of Bon Jovi in Puerto Rico in 2007 without Richie. You can really tell something is missing

Wrath Mania 12-07-2009 01:48 AM

So I'm watching the youtube videos of it, and I gotta say, it's pretty lame. Obviously the editing is a giant Jon-fest, it's absolutely abhorrent at times. And yeah the picture's really clear, but give me the cinematic feeling Wembley had- with angles, by the way, that showed off EVERY band member, and not just Jon's ass- over this glam shit. Combine that with the (sorry my fellow countrywoman and countrymen) absolutely embarrassing crowd (a wifey holding her baby during Dry County? UGH), a performance that really lacks energy and a good vocals. My friend actually started laughing when he heard Jon on the outro to Always, he was shocked they'd release something so bad.

thebri 12-07-2009 01:51 AM

Great DVD

You guys have to stop complaining man. This DVD rocks. I have them all and this is easily the best. I have never seen Dry County Live before so I am thrilled with it. Richie rocks and Tico is awesome.

Well I gotta say Wrath Mania, never seen that before, but unfortunatly they'll never be like that again so we have to accept that this MSG performance of it is the best we're gonna get at this stage in their career. I'd like Jon to get that headbanging energy and screaming back, but unfortunatly, he just doesnt have that bite anymore I guess...

Okay, true, bad example then. Let's just use one from the same tour, where his voice was significantly stronger:
