Like Kathleen, I saw some shows with Max, some with Jay and some with both. Of course, Max was going to be better overall. It was "his" material. How on earth could Jay match all those years of experience? I have an enormous amount of respect for what Jay was able to do, though. It was amazing to watch him do more and more with each show and then do whole shows. What really surprised me was how the crowds were so "with" him. From the first time I saw him play, the crowd responded to him. There had been so much bitching about it on the Bruce boards (I know - hard to imagine ;)), but the crowds were pulling for him. I think it was because they could tell how hard he was working and trying. The crowds could also see how much the rest of the E Street Band seemed to enjoy playing with him. Sure, he made mistakes, but most of the time he did a damn fine job. And as Kathleen said, when it comes to Radio Nowhere, he stole the show! That song is his now.
