A little clip from soundcheck:

According to reports on the Bruce boards, it was still raining when the show started (and none too warm either). This is the first show to start with something other than Badlands . . . Who'll Stop the Rain opened instead.

I hope you guys get a great show in spite of the conditions!

Can somebody recommend me a really good album?
I just started to get into the boss and got Nebraska and Greatest Hits.

Kathleen's advice to me was to start with Bruce's LIVE material. She said it's almost as if he figures out how he wants the music to sound on the road, not in the studio. The 3 CD live set from 1975-85 is amazing, and Live in NYC (2 CDs) is over the top. I spent quite awhile absorbing those and a bunch of bootlegs before I moved on to the studio albums. Of course, Born To Run is a masterpiece, so that should probably be your next studio purchase. I picked up most of the albums I was missing when I was in NJ/NYC for the Izod shows, and I've fallen in love with Darkness on the Edge of Town. It spent days and days in the player in my van. Nebraska still doesn't do it for me, although I love the electric versions of the songs on that album.

I'd get the Essential Bruce Springsteen 3 disc set. While there are many great songs missing, it does quite a good job of condensing Bruce's sound from the different eras of his career, and helps you find focus. I also agree with Terri and Kathleen about the live recordings, especially the Live '75-'85 set. Live In NYC, while amazing, is more of a die hard album. As far as studio albums, Born To Run is absolutely essential. Darkness on the Edge of Town, Born In The USA, and The Rising round out my personal Top 4.
