Man, I'm not even attending Glasto but I'm so frickin' excited to see it on TV still!

And maybe I should confess, this will be the first ever full gig I've seen of Springsteen televised.

All I've ever seen of his performances are on music videos (like Born To Run's) and like 3 youtube videos I watched.

Now I know he's bloody amazing live just from all the live/bootlegs I've been listening too, but I'm sure as hell looking forward to his visual performance this coming Sunday - which will prepare me and get myself even more excited for Hampden Park :D

Well, being as I would have only recognised less than 20 Bruce songs (most of them being from the new album), I've created myself a playlist of 91 songs (including the entire 3 disc Essential, the entire of The Rising, Magic and Working On A Dream, and some other songs I've seen people mention in this thread, including Thunder Road, Tenth Avenue Freeze Out, Ramrod, Downbound Train, Kitty's Back, and some others), which I'm gonna try to listen to at least twice in the next few days ... sound good? :D

Good idea :)

Although I do have one gripe, there doesn't seem to be enough Springsteen in that playlist.

Sounds like excellent homework to me! Have fun.

I can't believe i'm being such a geek -

Let's play fantasy setlist for Sunday's Hyde Park show.

One point for every song that gets played.

A bonus point if you put it in the right position in the set. (This has to work numerically - no points for getting the closer right if it's the 25th song and you said it would be 24th).

You lose a point for every song you choose over the total actually played (e.g. if 26 songs are played and you list 31, you lose 5 points).

Kathleen 06-24-2009 06:13 PM

Hmmm.... hard to do with Bruce. I'll come up with something - probably based upon setlists from the earlier part of the tour.

I was close on the Superbowl setlist.

Jim Bon Jovi 06-24-2009 09:25 PM

not going to go with an order but i want to see 10th avenue freeze out, jungleland, the river, atlantic city, born to run and outlaw pete played.

Sleep-When-Im-Dead 06-24-2009 10:50 PM

Really looking forward to hyde park on sunday, its come round so quick, im just dissapointed i havent managed to get to know all of his catolouge, but i still know i'll have a blast. Been watching live in NYC and Barcelona all week, currently re lisetning to the river album, god its good shit:D

i saw he requested an extra half hour for glasto, would be happy if he did that for hyde park:D

as for a fantasy setlist i think....(well hope:P)

1.London calling
2,badlands
3.Outlaw pete
4.No Surrender
5.My Lucky Day
6.Out In the Streets
7.Working on a dream
8.She's the one
9.Johnny 99
10.Raise Your Hand
11.Growin' Up
12.Hungry Heart
13.Two Hearts
14.Waiting on A Sunny Day
15.The River

17.Darlington County
18.The Wrestler
19.Kingdom of day's
20.Radio nowhere
21.Lonesome Day
22.The Rising
23.born to run

Encore

24.Hard Times
25.Born In the USA
26.10th Avenue
27.Dancing In the Dark
28.Glory Days
29.Thunder road

that would be amazing, probably throw in jungleand but sadly i cant see it at a festival show.

Jim Bon Jovi 06-24-2009 10:59 PM

how long was his slot at bonarroo btw?

the only worry i have for hyde park is that festivl headliners usually get an hour and a half or there abouts which is nothing in bruce terms.

although with only 4 bands on the main stage and the music kicking off at 2 there's definitely potential for a 7pm start.

I think I'm gonna jizz my pants just by seeing him come out onto the stage :(

Hopefully I'll be seated next to a gorgeous girl who I can blame it on.

Sleep-When-Im-Dead 06-25-2009 01:34 AM

He has played both this tour so perhaps you should get the kleenex handy :p

Seriously - it's so cool watching people enjoy this guy for the first time. I hope you all have a blast.

I agree with you Kathleen, also great seeing all these new fans.
I am sooo tempted to go to Denmark and see him again, but have decided against it as
I want to keep the awesome 3 Stockholm shows as the last ones for a while. also need to start saving money for that loong USA-trip we're planning on doing 2 years from now.

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND 19:10 - 18:25

JAMES MORRISON 15:50 - 18:40

If anyone needs a spare for Sunday, PM me. May well be able to help.

maybe they're going on "how long the MoR crooner's set will feel has passed" time for james morrison?

I read an article in a newspaper the other day where James Morrison praised Bruce for making him work on his act "When I saw Bruce in 2008 I knew I had to up my game, he's the complete package"

I DO feel bad for Walruss...

It just came to light today my friend forgot to schedule the show entirely....

Kathleen 06-25-2009 08:41 PM

All the Bruce people are bitching about the Dave Matthews Band. I don't get it. They are not my favorite band but I enjoy their music. And every once in a while their wandering approaches greatness - just not often enough for me. For my money - they have one of the best drummers in the business too.

I saw them for the first time around 2002 and have been a minor fan since.

It's that they're a band with all the rough edges rounded off. Too inoffensive. A jam band for people who don't like jam bands and rock music for people who don't like rock music.

That said, I'm only someone who never took the time rather than someone who disliked them with a passion, so I'm looking forward.

Crushgen24/88 06-25-2009 09:54 PM

I saw that thread over on the lake, and frankly I don't get it. To be honest, I really don't enjoy DMB, bit I'd have no problem sitting through them to get to Bruce.

What exactly satisfies Bruce fans?

Jim Bon Jovi 06-25-2009 11:14 PM

i have a dmb cd and it's good from a musicians point of view.

kind of like matchbox 20, they're all really good and sound tighter than a nun's proverbial but it's all very MoR. You can even imagine bryan adams finding it inoffensive...

i don't get why they're 2nd on the bill though, james morrison (and i'd suggest even the gaslight anthem) get a bigger amount of press here than them.

good 2 o clock, lie and sleep off the hangover music band but the warm up for the boss's set... i don't get it.

Jim Bon Jovi 06-26-2009 12:49 AM

k i suppose i better go and pack.

i'm sorry guys but i'm packing the 3/4 lengths and sunnies so it's inveitably going to rain.

Interesting analysis - I never thought of them that way. My son was a big fan for awhile - he doesn't like the newer stuff as much - and I heard a lot of it in the house. I liked most of what I heard and they put on an excellent show.

And Brian - as big of a Bruce fan as I am - you notice that I post here and not on the lake. Nothing satisfys Bruce fans - they seem to be the bitchiest and most grouchy bunch of fan you could ever hope to meet. They complain about everything.

I'm not sure why either since Bruce's music, and for that matter Bruce himself, doesn't seem to foster a sense of dissatisfaction.

Goldsausage 06-26-2009 02:53 PM

Y'know, I used to collect hoodies (hey, some people collect stamps, I collected hoodies), I had quite a big collection but I've grown out of them, every damn one.

Except one. And that's one I bought at Twickenham last year when seeing Bon Jovi - so it has BON JOVI written right across it.

Am I gonna get lynched if I wear it at Hampden Park whilst seeing Springsteen? Or dirty looks or anything? I don't wanna be cold whilst buying my merchandise and getting some food but I don't wanna upset diehard either :(

Ah **** it - my hoodie, my choice. **** them Springsteen fans.

Also an important question - what time is Springsteen on at Glasto tommorow and how long is his set going to be? Cos I'm thinking about getting my mate round to watch it with me and just buy lots of drink and junk food :D

Kathleen 06-26-2009 03:11 PM

Oli - most Springsteen fans hate Bon Jovi. If you could avoid wearing that hoodie I would.

On the other hand if you want to liven up your day and get in your face with some fans - there's nothing wrong with wearing your favorite hoodie. It's all a matter of perspective.

Goldsausage 06-26-2009 03:13 PM

I might just wear it - it'll make for an interesting review for you all when I write it up and post it :p

How much did a Hoodie for BJ set you back last year?

Anyway, hell yes. Go to a gig in the least appropriate clothes possible. It is far, far cooler than going in the shirt of the band you are going to see.

Iron Maiden gig, Beautiful South t-shirt was always my favourite. (And vice-versa)

"Don't be that guy".

Crushgen24/88 06-26-2009 08:36 PM

Be, the hoodie cost me $100 back in '07.
Anyway, it's funny Oli says about collecting hoodies, because I actually do that as well. And honestly, just wear the damn thing. Who the **** cares what people say?

£50. Probably far too much but hey, I was on a natural high that night :p

Also it was the only one left. I asked for one and the really, really hot lady serving me said there was only one more left and she was wearing it. But she took it off for me and sold it to me :D It had one of her long, beuatiful hair strands on it too :D

Word has it that Bruce's management are restricting the BBC coverage, so expect around three songs. Which is so shit I may stop my TV license payment..... wait I don't pay it the first place :p

Then again the BBC's coverage of Bruce's set begins at 11:10pm, his set starts at 10:00pm so it looks like the Beeb are ****ing it up by themselves. Neil Young only got three songs last night.

Read the comments on the BBC page, Bruce fans are getting evil :)

Kathleen 06-27-2009 09:34 PM

OK - here is my setlist prediction for this evening: It's based heavily on setlists from the tour with some stuff switched out.

Badlands
No Surrender
My Lucky Day
Outlaw Pete
Out in the Street
Working on a Dream
Seeds
Johnny 99
Youngstown
Raise Your Hand
Night
Growin' Up
Thunder Road
Growin Up
The Promised Land
The River
Radio Nowhere
Lonesome Day
The Rising
Born to Run
* * *
Hard Times
Tenth Avenue Freeze-out
Land of Hope and Dreams
Hungry Heart
Rosalita
Glory Days
Dancing in the Dark

KeepTheFaith2211 06-27-2009 09:40 PM

I am watching Glastonbury tonight for Kasabian, who are the only band mentioned at 8:05PM in my tele paper. They'll probably only play for about 45 minutes I'm guessing, probably shorter?

So why the hell restrict the three main acts(Neil Young, Bruce etc.) to just 'highlights'. It doesn't make sense.
