Mods - this is not a download link. This is a search link to stuff on dime if anyone is interested (and has an account).

How have you survived without a dime account? It's my home away from home LOL.

K so I signed up to dime and found the Hyde Park torrent but I can;'t download the thing.

Every link I click in the body of the page brings up the optio of find, save or cancel.

I've tried clicking find and save on every link and after about a second it tells me that the doownload is done. Then when I go to my documents and click on whatever it's put in there it says it can't open / find the file....

Do you have a bit torrent client installed on your machine Jim. Without that - you ain't goin' nowhere. Install uTorrent from this page:

http://www.utorrent.com/

On dime at the top of the page is a .torrent link. Either click on it or save it somewhere on your computer and then click on it and utorrent will open.

Ah cool.

I'll do it tomorrow.

I'm feeling far too drunk and lazy to download anything else tonight :D

Jim Bon Jovi 08-17-2009 03:49 PM

Ok so that failed miserably....

I tried to download u torrent and was told that I couldn't save it into programme files because I don't have permission from the administrator (ummmm i'm the only one that uses the laptop)

So I tried to save it in my documents, it took a second to download and then it wouldn't open when I tried to run it....

Anyone offer a bit of help?

hometownboy 08-17-2009 05:19 PM

i use Vuze, thats not bad but by no means the best but it is really easy to use!

It seriously ties up your processor, though. I switched to uTorrent at Kathleen's suggestion and haven't had the same issues since. I don't think uTorrent is any more difficult to use than Vuze either. Here are a couple of torrent how-to pages:

You must be running Vista - that's your first mistake LOL. You need to switch to administrator mode to download it and then you need to install it also in administrator mode.

yup ****ing vista. It's a bad day when I don't have a clue where I'm saving my documents to.

How do I get into admin mode? I want to download monkey island and pirates before I go to saudi to keep me occupied.

I only had vista for a week and dumped it so I'm not sure I remember. Here is an answer stolen from the internet LOL:

Many utilities need to be run as administrator in order to function properly, especially older utilities that haven’t been updated to support Vista yet.

All shortcuts in Windows Vista have a special property that you can set that will allow the application to run as Administrator.

To set this property, just right-click on any shortcut, and click the Advanced button on the Shortcut page to get to the Advanced Properties dialog.

You’ll see a dialog with a checkbox for “Run as administrator”.

From now on, the application will always run as administrator if you use the shortcut to launch it. (You’ll be prompted by UAC if you have it enabled).

Thunderstrucker 08-17-2009 07:48 PM

As Kathleen said: Right click on the .exe file and select Run as Administrator.

I salute you,
TS

Rambling Bob Dylan raises police suspicions

To police in a New Jersey seaside town, the rock legend Bob Dylan was merely an eccentric pensioner wandering the streets in the pouring rain. According to Dylan himself, he was just "out for a walk". But now there is growing speculation that when the star was recently questioned by the police, he may have been in search of Bruce Springsteen's old house, where he wrote the classic Born to Run.

Probing musicians' backgrounds who influenced the world of rock in the 1960s and 1970s is a hobby for Dylan. Last November he turned up unannounced at a Winnipeg house where the Canadian rock star Neil Young grew up. Kiernan and Patti Regan came home from shopping to find him waiting on their doorstep and invited him in.
Bob Dylan arrest: 'Picked up near Springsteen's childhood home'
Link to this audio

Then, in May, Dylan paid a £16 entrance fee and mingled anonymously with tourists at the childhood home of John Lennon in Woolton, Liverpool.

Finally, last month, homeowners in Long Branch, 30 miles south of New York, phoned the authorities when they noticed a scruffy figure ambling along a residential street and entering the yard of an up-for-sale house.

Soaking wet, Dylan, 68, gave his name to Kristie Buble, a 24-year-old police officer, and informed her that he was in town to headline a concert with country star Willie Nelson and rocker John Mellencamp. She was sceptical.

"I've seen pictures of Bob Dylan from a long time ago and he didn't look like Bob Dylan to me at all," Buble told ABC News. "He was wearing black sweatpants tucked into black rain boots, and two raincoats with the hood pulled down over his head."

Dylan was given a lift in a patrol car back to his hotel, where his manager produced a passport to prove his identity.

The location where he was stopped was close to the house where Springsteen wrote his hits Born to Run and Thunder Road three decades ago. Could he have been on the way to a visit?

Jonathan Cott, the editor of a recent collection of Bob Dylan interviews, said the motives of the gravel-voiced bard were frequently impenetrable.

"Dylan is Dylan. He's a very protean character. He shapes himself a lot, he's like a shape shifter. He goes from one identity to another. He's consciously that way and he's always been that way," he said.

Kathleen 08-17-2009 09:24 PM

That article ^ has been all over the Bruce boards too. It's a sad day when you can't take a walk without getting f u c k e d with by the cops.

Goldsausage 08-17-2009 10:33 PM

Like Kathleen, I've been reading these all over at greasylake too.

WHO THE **** DOESN'T BELIEVE A MAN WHEN HE SAYS HE'S BOB DYLAN?

If a shady man told me he was Bob Dylan, God dammit I'd believe it. If a shady man was in shiny shoes and smartly dressed and told me he was Bob Dylan I'd call him a ****ing liar.

And if I couldn't make my mind up - I'd just ask the person to recite the whole Time interview to me :D That'll catch them out.

Not sure, when I've got 19,956 posts I'll let you know.

Heh but seriously yeah, on here I am very talkative, no question about it. However my flaw in real life is I'm too shy to speak :( Which is probably why I have a lot to say on here.

Anyway, back on topic because Boss talk is the best talk, isn't Soul Rider just SO DAMN COOL? I can't quite explain why I dig it so much. Everyone discuss it and then I'll steal one of your answers and say that's why I love it too. Definatly the best of Human Touch...I think.

Nice edit

I've been here 10 years or so...

Jim Bon Jovi 08-18-2009 03:02 PM

I just had a strange thought.

I'm not excited about this gig at all.

For the Boss, Bon Jovi, Oasis or any other big stadium gig I always get excited just because of the sheer scale of the thing whereas today I'm just like "meh I'm going to see u2 later, I wonder what I can make for lunch"

Strange though I suppose it means there's less a chance of me being disappointed.....

edit: ooops wrong band. Sorry bruce

Funny you should say that, my dad's going to see U2 at Hampden and didn't seem that excited about it. Probably because he was a wee bit disappointed with their performance in Dublin last month, but of course he won't admit it :D

Anyway, seeing as Oli is going on about his Boss song of the moment, I'll sing the praise of Worlds Apart. Man, I totally love this song. When I first got The Rising it was the first song that really stood out for me, there is just something about the lyrics that really get me, and the guitars at the end just about make me melt. A song that I'd definately love to hear live for sure :)

And I've just checked my iTunes....I have listened to it at least 348 times since I got the album in September last year :D

I dunno, I'm just a very self-concious kid :p I listen to Dancing In The Dark and I hear Bruce talking about me, y'know - I just don't like myself and I'm not all the confident, you'll have to know me for like 5 years before I come outta my shell :p. I've said that somewhere before but I can't remember where - mighta been in my "Your Top 1 Musical Artist" post.

Chica - I learnt that on guitar not so long ago. Chords are easy enough, but getting the feeling and emotion of it ain't so easy :( But I agree, the lyrics are brilliant. I heard someone bashing that song because of the lililili's but I like them :(

Hell, I wouldn't have even noticed that song if Lee-Ann hadn't told me to listen to it. I was listening to The Rising in the background but not really paying much attention to it, she told me to put World's Apart on and I was blown away.

Hell, that whole album is my favourite at the moment.

Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up.

The lililis rock! I love how that song has a kind of Eatern influence on it. If I could marry a song, I'd marry Worlds Apart. Although Backstreets is something I'm listening to a lot right now as well.

Goldsausage 08-19-2009 02:34 PM

Meh, forget everything else Bruce related.

THE ONLY THING PEOPLE NEED IS THE COVER ME FROM THE LIVE BOXSET.

One of my favourite Bruce songs but dammit that live version blows me away. Gives it a much darker atmosphere and everything, then how it merges into I'm On Fire, just beautiful.

No doubt I'll pop into this thread again in half an hour to tell you all about another amazing Bruce song.

(Oh yeah Kathleen if you're taping the BTR shows, make sure you get Meeting Across The River if nothing else!)

Have to agree with you there apart from the I'm On Fire bit- never really been able to get into that song, even live versions don't do it for me.

While we're on the topic of the live box set, does the version of The River turn anyone else into a sobbing wreck? I love that song anyway (one of the first Springsteen songs I really got into) but something about that version just brings out the crybaby in me. Especially if I'm listening to the vinyl version of it.

Goldsausage 08-19-2009 02:45 PM

The River is a beautiful song anyhow.

But that story he tells before the live boxset version is just amazing. I plan to make a movie of that one day! And then how the harmonica naturally finds it's place in between the few seconds of silence.

God dammit Bruce I hate you for having this control over me :(

I think it's the story that gets me, apart from the army thing, it's the stort of me and my dad.

Do I actually have to say I'll be there LOL? I'm going to all 5 Giants shows as is Terri (Milomom) since she'll be here with me. There is at least one other person on this board going to the last night - Marc (bjmjpl).

And yes - I'm super excited as Hartford (today) is starting the last US leg. Bruce shows at Giants have always proven to be exceptional in terms of setlists - see the 3 shows from last summer.

And Oli - you should know that The River (the song not the entire album) was written about Bruce's sister who got pregnant at 17. An all too common occurance unfortunately.

The two outdoor shows I've seen him play the impact has definitely been a little diluted. Which is a shame.

But I do realise Giants' is special.

Haha, yeah thought you may drop in! ;) Good stuff. Interested to see if Hartford continues in the vein of the European shows in terms of rarities, etc. Hopefully so.

Sure Giants will be very special. Guess there could be a few surprise guests, in addition to some great setlists. Expectations are high!

Crushgen24/88 08-19-2009 07:48 PM

I'll be at the first and the last Giants nights.

So, after like 15 different attempts, I put together a list of my Top 20 Bruce songs. It's still not accurate, and will probably change, but whatever, and yeah I know it's blatantly obvious the era/style of Bruce music I prefer:

1. Jungleland
2. Badlands
3. Born To Run
4. Land of Hope and Dreams
5. No Surrender
6. Thunder Road
7. Mary's Place
8. Rosatlita (Come Out Tonight)
9. 4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)
10. Backstreets
11. The Promised Land
12. 10th Avenue Freeze Out
13. Bobby Jean
14. The River
15. Spirit In The Night
16. Atlantic City
17. Terry's Song
18. Born In The USA
19. Hungry Heart
20. Darkness on The Edge of Town

I guess I didn't know that Marc picked up tickets for the last night. Didn't he get tickets to the original last night? You know, the night that was the last night (but was never billed as such) until they announced the 2 shows after the last night that wasn't the last night. ;) Anyway, good deal that he did. It sounds like JT will be well-represented! I have other Jovi friends who'll be there, too, but they don't post on this board. Since so many Jovi fans will be there, it really would be nice if some "special guests" dropped by.

28 days to my next Bruce show! :-D

Interesting. I haven't even begun to think about such a list. I'm still learning . . . and not fast enough, either. Damn that's a lot of music! Anyway, a lot of those would be on my list, but Racing in the Street and Drive All Night would have to make it, too. And Born In The USA would not be on it. I didn't like it back in the day, and I still don't. I know that's sacrilege, but so be it.

I go back and forth on the song honestly, it just barely made it in. And it's all good, because I 'm sure most the Bruce Faithful would massacre me if they saw that list.;)

After spending time on their message boards, they'll massacre just about anyone for just about anything, so what the hell! LOL (Not that our happy little home is much better these days! I'm lying low . . . and hanging out in the non-Jovi threads.)

BITUSA is just so loud and in your face. Or maybe it's just because it was EVERYWHERE when it came out. I was a senior in college in '84-'85, and you couldn't escape the song.

I like this:

The screen door slams
Mary's dress waves
Like a vision she dances across the porch
As the radio plays . . . .

Just a few words, and you can see the scene in your mind. Now that's good.

My current top 20 probably look something like this, but I've still got a couple of albums to sift through:

1. Backstreets
2. Rosalita
3. Out in the Street
4. Jungleland
5. I'm Goin' Down
6. Thunder Road
7. Incident on 57th Street
8. Dancing in the Dark
9. Land of Hopes and Dreams
10. Racing in the Street
11. Born to Run
12. American Skin (41 Shots)
13. Outlaw Pete
14. Bobby Jean
15. The Rising
16. No Surrender
17. Glory Days
18. Streets of Philadelphia
19. The Wrestler
20. Hungry Heart
