And I'm always will to take requests. I think I have most of these :)

Have external hard drive, will travel! ;)

Am I allowed to add The Hitter In Syracuse (13/11/1996)to the Ghost Of Tom Joad tour must-haves? It's a great show, lots of talk from Bruce too and is in good quality. I've spent many hours listening to it. (was also the debut of the song "The Hitter"). The only thing wrong with any of it is The Promised Land, why Bruce felt the need to turn such a great song into a borefest I do not know.

Also Jack, look at one of the shows Kathleen has listed underneath the Tunnel Of Love tour - STOCKHOLM. You best be downloading it, boy ;)

And thanks Kathleen! This list will be useful to me too :D Much appreciated.

Yup something happens with Bruce when he comes to Sweden, he always put on a super-great show. Stockholm on the Devil and Dust tour is one of my all time favourite shows. You could hear a pin drop that night, and you folks will get to know one of our most famous schnaps songs "Helan går". LOL!

asok80 10-31-2009 08:07 AM

Awesome Kathleen! What a great show in all it must have been from the looks of the setlists.

Read that Bruce and Patti joined U2 on stage last night for Because the Night and then Bruce also joined in on I still haven't found...

Magoo 10-31-2009 05:20 PM

Looks like a fantastic two nights (despite them screwing up Because the Night first time round!)

Wow! Thanks for the video link.

Very jealous, Kathleen!

Kathleen 10-31-2009 07:58 PM

Well I'm jealous of Bruce and Patti on night 2 - I would have LOVED to have seen and heard that. Maybe we'll get lucky and it will be included on the HBO special.

I'm not sure I was up for another 6 hour show. Actually was planning on going to bed early last nigh after the 4:00 am the night before - and a friend stopped by and we sat up and talked until 2:00 am. So here it is Saturday and I had to get up early for tickets - and a Halloween party tonight.

Magoo 11-04-2009 02:36 AM

The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle and The River are being played in entirety at MSG.

Holy shit. :crazyeye:

Whaaaattt??? Holy shit - gotta check this out.

Oh f u c k me - it's true - it's on Bruce's main site.
OK I can die happy now - AFTER Nov. 8th LOL

Just booked a hotel in Manhattan for 2 nights for those shows too - god it's gonna be good (and sad - especially night 2) :(

Both albums are - classic is the only thing I can say right now.

Magoo 11-04-2009 02:57 AM

I officially could not be more jealous of you and everyone else going. (In a nice way of course!) Giants was special for me, but these shows at Philly and MSG have been something else.

I trust there will be a high quality recording appearing shortly after the weekend though! ;)

Have an amazing time and spare a thought for all of us wishing we were there when the opening notes of NYC Serenade starts!

Oh I always think of people who SHOULD have been there - ie Brian when Billy Joel came out. Not too sure about HIGH QUALITY recording but we will be recording and probably a bunch of guys will record, who have far more expensive equipment than I do. Oh - to hear Incident into Rosalita into NYC Serenade will be the thrill of a lifetime.

And since he'll be playing Wild Billy do you think he will play The Last Carnival? If he does there won't be a dry eye in the house :(

For those who don't know - Wild Billy WAS Danny - the only member of the band to die (so far).

Magoo 11-04-2009 03:16 AM

I think this is the best chance there will be for The Last Carnival to be played, yeah. With Sandy and Wild Billy's Circus Story, you'll already have two of the key "Danny tracks" and it would be natural to add that one on too.

So excited for you guys!

On a separate note, I think there's a chance of Greetings from Asbury Park being played in full at Buffalo. If this really is the final E Street show as we know it, that would be a nice touch of symmetry.

Sleep-When-Im-Dead 11-04-2009 04:17 AM

Arrived in new york today:D, cant wait till sat especially with that announcement, lets face it does it get better than having incident on 57th confirmed before you go to a show:D

Awesome for you - what a treat. Are you going to both nights?

Living here, I have seen Incident many times - but The River - Fade Away - I'm on cloud nine :)

nah just night 1 sadly which im ok with as im ashamed to say im yet to really get to know the river...well disc 2 i love disc 1. E street shuffle however, i;ve been listening to alot latley as id seen a few rumours he might play it, should be great. E street shuffle is one of my top bruce tracks, and the magic that will be incident into rosie will be amazing:D, cant wait for saturday now, which is kinda sad coz its last night of my holiday haha.

Thunderstrucker 11-04-2009 11:24 AM

Nice.
I prefer the River over the Wild but you already know that the shows will be epic.
I wasn't there when he played a standard set on the dutch festival but I was jealous when I saw what show the people of scandinavia got.
He is also making a party of every show, getting his mother on stage, elvis on stage.
His title 'The Boss' almost doesn't fit him anymore :)

How I wish I would be there in MSG :)

I salute you,
TS

Goldsausage 11-04-2009 11:34 AM

God must have heard me say the other week "I'll give my left nut to hear The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle" live.

Well God, I kinda meant if the show was in the United Kingdom somewhere <_<

Wrath Mania 11-04-2009 12:17 PM

So, not to interrupt the flow or anything, but perhaps you ladies and gents can hear me out here.

I'm from New Jersey. I have pretty diverse tastes when it comes to music.

But I don't particularly like Springsteen.

Something wrong with me? :p

You'd be surprised. Kids my age around here that I would consider legit audiophiles treat him like a caricature. I think it might be a generation gap. Though he's certainly held in higher regard than Jovi is.

You just haven't allowed yourself to be seduced by him - that's all. If you had ever been to a live show you would know that the intensity is matched by nobody else on stage. Not only does he put on a hell of a show - (he's a consumate showman) but the music is still timely and the lyrics beautiful and intelligent.

And with all that he manages to make it all fun.

I noticed with my kids that as they aged they appreciated Bruce a lot more.

Have you listened to his live stuff or just studio recordings? As far as I'm concerned, it makes all the difference! I thought I didn't like Springsteen, too (bad experience with the Nebraska album when I was in college), until that wicked woman Kathleen lured me in with LIVE Springsteen. ;) Now I do crazy things like:

leave my office in Atlanta at 3:00 PM yesterday
drive 2 hours to Greenville, SC and check into my hotel
drive 2 more hours to Charlotte, NC
thoroughly enjoy an almost 3-hour Springsteen concert
drive back to Greenville
sleep for a few hours
drive straight back to my office in Atlanta for work at 9:30 AM

(I have a similar program planned for the Nashville show in 2 weeks.)

If you want to give Bruce a try, get 2 of his official live releases - the 3 CD 1975-85 set and the 2 CD Live in NYC. I started with those (which I got used via eBay for not much money), and absolutely loved them. The insanity really started after I saw my first show in April. The power of the E Street Band is amazing. When they crank it up, it's almost a physical blow. They are absolutely stunning musicians, and during the course of a show Bruce generally gives each of them an opportunity to really shine. And Bruce himself? He just never, ever stops giving it his all. (Last night's show ended with Higher and Higher . . . and Bruce back out in the middle of the GA crowd!) After that first show, I knew I had to have MORE! And thanks to wonderful enabling friends, I've had more. Last night was my 10th show of the tour. I just can't get enough.

Thunderstrucker 11-04-2009 06:35 PM

Thats a good tip Terri to get him to listen the live releases :)

I salute you,

As I said, that's how Kathleen got me hooked!

Kathleen 11-04-2009 08:50 PM

Mwa ha ha - it's a conspiracy :D

However, the best thing about Bruce's music are the live recordings - then bootlegs. And there are some fantastic Bruce bootlegs.

Crushgen24/88 11-05-2009 09:08 AM

Thank you for thinking of me Kathleen =]. I would have killed to be there. And wow...the Garden...wow

Chica Guacamole 11-06-2009 02:06 AM

Oh how I wish I were in NY right now! :( Would love to hear The River live- it was my first Springsteen album, bought it in Paris and my best friend and I listened to it the whole week we were there and we both fell in love with it. Such a great freakin' record. Hope everyone going to the shows enjoys them, and I am expecting full reports afterwards :)

Goldsausage 11-06-2009 12:45 PM

I'd hate to get the whole River live :/

I guess the first half would be ok but still...:/

I'd be happy to know that I'd definatley be getting the title track and Point Blank but that's it.

However The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle is a whole different story. I would have given my balls to be there. The E Street Shuffle, Sandy, Incident, Rosalita, Kitty's Back, Wild Billy's Circus Story and Serenade. Just amazing.

Although, I did hear Incident at Glasgow but back then I didn't "get" so didn't appreciate it as much as I would do now. Brilliant song on a flawless album.

Isn't this the working on a dream tour? Not one song from the album was played...

Crushgen24/88 11-09-2009 09:22 PM

I was at an AMAZING AAR show last night, but damn, I'd have given anything to be there on either of those nights. Sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose some.

Kathleen 11-09-2009 09:48 PM

Night one was awesome but night 2 - The River - crossed the border to sublime. Honestly - that's as close to a religious experience as I want to get. I had chills and tears and was left with a whole lot of respect for Bruce who sang every one of those songs as if he really meant them.

Even light tracks like I've Got a Crush on You (introduced as the masterpiece of the River - tongue in cheek) was sung as it was meant to be heard - it wasn't a throwaway.

Fade Away was one of the chills - the way he ended it on his knees just added to the impact.

But the songs that don't get much play - Point Blank, The Price You Pay, Drive all Night were absolutely showstoppers.

I guess if I never see them as a band again - I can't complain after a night like this. What a way to end it.
