Man I'm so pumped for this new DVD, really looking forward to getting it. However, I predict that American Land will be skipped over so as not to bring back the horrible buzz-killing memories. Seriously, what posessed Bruce to place it after Jungleland?

Oli, hit <quote> and then hold your cursor over the rolling eyes smiley. Do you get a little explanation of what it means?

I hated that song until I experienced it live! IT'S SO FRICKIN' FUN!

At the U.S. shows where we got all of Born To Run, we usually got Sunny Day (complete with singing munchkins) after Jungleland. <shudder> I found it very painful.

I'm looking forward to the DVD, too! I saw the videos of Racing and No Surrender yesterday, and they were incredible.

I just preordered it from play.com and it came friday :d i aint complainin'. Trust me its worth waiting for :), never seen/heard such quality on a DVD.

Goldsausage 06-21-2010 04:17 PM

I went in HMV today on the wild chance it might be on the shelves a day early.

AND IT WAS!

Shame it was £15 though. **** that. I love Bruce to bits and have been waiting for this DVD a long time, it looks brilliant, but I've got Jovi on Saturday and I'm doing out with mates on Wednesday, I can't justify spending anymore money when I can probably get the DVD a lot cheaper elsewhere.

Stoopid HMV.

Well I'm a miserable bastard and it didn't work for me.

asok80 06-21-2010 09:21 PM

I won't get it until Wednesday or Thursday depending on when they ship it out. £15 is not much it's quite normal to the prices over here however I always get a bill so I can wait 14 days before I pay it. :-) I will have a great midsummer! with a lot of sun, drink and Bruce!

Has anyone here ever actually met or seen Bruce in New Jersey? Not in concert, but like at a bar or walking around, y'know.

Lots of people have. I think he is harder to find now that his kids are grown - he used to just hit the boardwalk for ice cream with the kids.

He is also known for showing up at the Habitat for Humanity building sites on his motorcycle and picking up a hammer and joining in.

People see him at horse events (yes there are lots of those here in Jersey) cheering on his daughter. He tends not to sign autographs at these events as he is there to support his daughter (or so he says). There is a story over on Greasy Lake about a recent sighting.

It never ceases to amaze me how much negativity there is on Bruce boards. Makes this place look like a big Jovi Suck-Fest in comparison.

And that is exactly why my *home away from home* is here and not on any of the Bruce boards. I spent a few years on BTX in one of it's earlier incarnations around 2000 - I found this place in 2001-2002 and never looked back.

I am probably more of a Bruce fan than a Bon Jovi fan but I just couldn't take the attitudes. It was either Bruce is GOD or Bruce sucks - there didn't seem to be much of an in between.

Many will laugh - but people are far nicer here - really they are :D

asok80 06-22-2010 11:49 AM

I read that he was in Asbury Park the other night, visiting Wonder Bar among other places.

asok80 06-28-2010 09:19 PM

Saw an interview with Little Steven talking about BJ and how he was at the show on Saturday and ALSO about the Darkness box! Bruce has found 20!! outtakes from that era that he's going through and Steven mentioned something about a christmas release....

Merry Christmas to me!!!!
Love Darkness, and that whole era surrounding it.

Did he say which Christmas, though?!

EDIT - The whole Darkness box set reminds me of "soon" in Jovi-lingo.

asok80 06-28-2010 09:45 PM

Hahaha I think he actually means THIS christmas...but you never know with Bruce now do ya?

**** the Darkness boxset - STEVIE VAN ZANDT WAS AT THE SAME BON JOVI GIG AS ME?!

God dammit! I MIGHT HAVE WALKED PAST HIM LIKE A MILLION TIMES AND NOT EVEN HAVE KNOWN IT.

Mind you, with that pyjama dress sense I'm sure I'd have seen him a mile off.

He sure is hard to miss with his bandana if nothing else.

I saw that too - it was a pretty good interview. I'm so looking forward to the Darkness boxset. I sure hope it's THIS Christmas LOL.

I've watched the Hyde Park Blu-Ray twice now and will probably watch it one more time before all the details sink in :)

Thunderstrucker 06-29-2010 01:23 AM

The producer of Bruce has said in an earlier interview that 2 projects will be released this year. The WOAD-dvd and the Darknexx-box.
It's pretty obvious it will be a christmas-release now the WOAD-DVD has been released.

I am looking forward to it !

I salute you,
TS

Yes I'm really looking forward to the box as well. I've also read that he is working on a Tracks 2 box as well as new material (of course) so some of those outtakes will maybe end up on the Tracks 2.

Haven't had time to watch Hyde Park yet, will probably do that tonight.

Thunderstrucker 07-04-2010 05:16 PM

This morning I watched some songs of the new Springsteen DVD and although I still think the saxophone and harmonica are mixed too low it is quite a nice show. Bruce's voice is shot but I am not getting irritated by it.

This morning I sat out Racing in the Street and came to the conclusion that it is an brilliant song. I didnt really know it until now. Epic.

I salute you,
TS

I can agree somewhat here. After watching this twice there are certainly places where the sax gets lost - or at least gets minimized in the mix. There are other places though where it comes out loud and clear. Perhaps that was their intention since there are times even in a live concert where you can see Clarence playing but you only hear it as part of the mix.

But Racing in the Street is magnificent - no other word for it.

Goldsausage 07-04-2010 06:24 PM

I never really got Racing In The Street, I like it, but I dunno, there's just something about it that doesn't grab me.

The weird thing is though, I can see why people do love it :/ Weird.

ANYWAY, today I payed £4.50 for a magazine just because it had a Bruce interview. Oh and a CD of 15 songs from Bruce's own playlist.

I don't have a scanner but sometime over the week I'll try and take some pictures of each page and blow them up and upload them for ya'll.

Thunderstrucker 07-04-2010 06:29 PM

Yes Kathleen. The sax is brilliantly mixed in Jungleland. The harmonica in The Promised Land for example is weak again. Odd mix to me so far.

I salute you,
TS

It certainly is. For me, Racing and the bonus footage of The River from Glastonbury are the absolute highlights. I enjoyed the whole thing, but those 2 songs are spectacular.

Not Old_Just Older 07-04-2010 08:17 PM

I really like the new DVD, sure his voice is rough on a couple of songs but he still gives one hell of a performance. "Racing in the street", "Jungleland" and "No surrender" are big highlights for me.

Thunderstrucker 07-05-2010 02:44 PM

Same for me.
I been watching it for 2 hours in a row now while cleaning my room and getting rid of old stuff and man, now i know how Kathleen was able to sit out the whole concert. Once you think Bruce's voice is shot he pulls another can of energy open and there he goes again.

What an energy and I am more and more discovering more songs of him. Songs I discovered due this dvd so far are Racing in the Street and Trapped now as well. The lyrics of Trapped perfectly fit some situations I was in last years.

There ain't a tour of him I wanna miss from now on ! Solo or with the band.

I salute you,
TS

Well - yeah - that's what happens with Bruce. He sucks you in and never lets go. I mostly originally loved the E St Band stuff but once I went to a solo show I fell in love with that too - and then there was the Seeger Sessions Band - and I loved that too. The man is a hell of a good musician.

There were times during that Hyde Park show that you thought his voice was going to go off completely. And then he came back and pulled some more energy out of somewhere (unless he has a Dr. Feelgood backstage LOL).

Ferret 07-05-2010 09:21 PM

If he does a solo tour I'm right there. Would love to hear some Nebraska and Devils & Dust material live. Would be incredible infact.

I'd KILL, I actually mean I'd KILL somebody with my own two bare hands to experience him playing Reason To Believe the way he did on the Ghost Of Tom Joad tour.

Oh Ghost Of Tom Joad tour, how I wish I wasn't 5 years old when you came around.

hometownboy 07-07-2010 12:41 AM

Just ordered the dvd! cant wait to hear it. especially to relive that magnificent version of the river from glastonbury again (i know its on youtube but not in HD) :D

Crushgen24/88 07-07-2010 06:42 AM

If I may jump off the topic of Hyde Park for a moment, I have to say I've been living in The River album for the last week or two. The mix of frivolity and seriousness is brilliant.
