That was way too long-a post just to say I'm gonna dress as Bruce and play some of his songs...

But I dunno, I think there was something about seeing a beauty such as Amy perform right in front of you and then smile right at you that just makes it good. I quite like Suzi Quatro's version too. I'd say hers is the best cover. But still, can't ever beat the passion Bruce does it with no matter how hard you try. Except me when I'm belting along with it in my room, I'm pretty passionate about it at those times. |

Oli's story reminds me that a few weeks ago I went and played No Surrender acoustically at a party of one of my parents' friends, as the guy was big into Bruce (his son, who's a friend of mine is more into Neil though ), so, as everyone knows my reputation as somebody who can vaguely play a few chords I was enlisted to do a tune. I had no net at the time so I chose that song due to the fact it contains three chords :D

Right people of the Bruce thread - I AM IN MY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN COSTUME. WOOT WOOT. I'm not going to lie, I have been in my room playing along to some Bruce CD's with my guitar and pretending I'm headlining a gig at Giants Stadium and loudly shouting out "IS THERE ANYBODY ALIVE OUT THERE?!" after every song. I'm not gonna lie, I do that most days without the Bruce outfit anyway. I am so looking forward to getting on a bus as Bruce, getting drunk as Bruce, playing guitar as Bruce, talking to me as Bruce, raising my fist to Born In The USA as Bruce, getting naked as Bruce, going to sleep as naked Oli. But what I'm looking forward to most, is dancing to Dancing In The Dark as Bruce  That's my song and the birthday boy put it in the playlist especially for me :D Probably because whenever it gets played in public they have to watch me do the dance to it and he doeesn't want to miss the opportunity to watch me do it as Bruce whilst pissed out my head. WOOT WOOT. |
Also, this headband isn't as comfortable as I figured it would be.

Time to take your pills.
I salute you, TS |

Anyways, to Bruce...I had a wee splurge in the second hand vinyl shop here, got War 12" and Hungry Heart and Born to Run 7" as well as some Jovi vinyls. Makes up for the hideousness that is Edinburgh on a Saturday afternoon during the Festival:cool: |
I just received an email of a bruce springsteen bootleg-website that they added new bootlegs and also a compilation of 16 discs !! of songs Bruce performed during the WOAD-tour.
Check out how many songs he performed ! http://www.springsteenliveinconcert....eckingball.htm I salute you, TS |
Awesome! I've been downloading a bunch of his tour compilations lately. Still haven't finished Magic, taking forever!
But man, the 80s fancy dress party went good, and I played a nice bunch of songs. Even managed to squeeze in Human Touch. But man, just being dressed as Bruce is awesome. On the way to the bus to get to the party two girls walked by, one had a dog. The dog just jumped up and sniffed my little area. Big area! I mean big area! That MUST have been because I was Bruce. Then one of the girls walked away with the dog and the other girl stayed at the bus stop. The bus arrived and I was slightly in front of her but I told her she may get on first, to which she smiled and then said thanks. Then we talked all the way to her next stop - it was because I was Bruce!! This other man on the bus kept back at me too, must have been because I was Bruce. Then at about 1am, under the influence of a little alcohol a few of us thought it'd be a good idea to go to Tescos and do some shopping. So we walked there and it was next to a McDonald's, little did we know that the McDonald's carpark turns into a dogging site after hours. So we walked past (just walked) and some girls called us other. We didn't go because they were probably just as drunk as we were, then I wondered, were they drunk or did they just want to see BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN?! Then we went into Tescos and bought everything we wanted to buy at that moment in time (I bought a massive bag of Dorito's, a milkshake and a bar of Milka). Then I tried to work the self-checkout machine but I couldn't work it then some man come along and helped me. I said thanks and he said "Glad to help". Of course he was glad to help, he thought he was helping Bruce Springsteen! Then after a few hours missing we returned to the party. And I sat down to a bunch of guys I had never met in my entire life but had a great time with earlier in the night. One of them, the leader of the pack, was pretty ****ed by this point and said some nice things... "You know what this party needs? Bruce Springsteen! We need his sexiness". Now I'm not sure if he was talking about me or the real Bruce Springsteen. But probably the real one. Then a couple more hours later he said some nicer things! "I love Oli so much, I'm gonna let him come to my party too" "Do you even know his second name?" "No but I do know that he plays guitar, loves Bruce Springsteen and he's never accused me of raping someone's mum" "Well, those are good reasons for liking me, guys." And it was then that I knew it was my reason to live as Bruce Springsteen! The next morning, waking up with condensed milk all over me, I did not want to get into normal, boring Oli's clothes. I wanted to live as Bruce again! Now for my birthday I'm going to have a Bruce Springsteen Fancy Dress Party :) |
Perhaps I am still a little drunk :/

You think ?

Just realised that my copy of the great Devils & Dust has a DVD with it. What does this DVD contain?
|
The DVD contains Bruce performing some songs solo and an interview I believe. I got that edition too.
And explain to me, how can you sell things for free ? I salute you, TS |
The Darkness documentary is going to air on HBO October 7th.

Listened to The Ghost Of Tom Joad today - spectacular album. Loads of great music on it and a very dark, haunting vibe.
Oli tells me that the tour for it was good? |

EDIT: Turns out it wasn't the soundcheck but a lower quality version of the gig, and I misread. Oh well. |
This gig is some awesome shit! Nebraska cuts AND a monologue & song about cunnilingus. Superb.

I was going through my dad's vinyals the other day and found out he had The River.
A bit random considering it was in amongst all of his Bowie and Brian Eno records but I think I'll give it a spin soon to see how it sounds compared to the cd. |
I got the new DVD the other day. It's brilliant, a epic journey through Bruce land. I think the crowd weren't as bad as some on here were saying they were. They were pretty good for London actually.
The packaging is annoying as hell though, getting the discs out without scraping them is hard work. |
OMG . . . the Darkness box set is almost a reality! November 16 is the day! And what a reality it's going to be . . .
http://www.shorefiremedia.com/index....release&o=4215 Unbelievable. |

I'm hyperventilating. ;)
Thank goodness this news didn't come out on the same day as the Jovi GH news. My circuits would have overloaded, and I'd have ended up with my own personal version of the blue screen of death! |

**edit**3 CDs & 3 DVDs - not cheap and I don't even care. I want it now..... |

Classic. And an excellent point. :p |

I am so getting the deluxe edition, whatever the price tag is ! This is awesome news ! Wanna bet this documentary is how a documentary should be instead of the WWWB-whining-docu :D www.bit.ly/brucethepromise 93 euro but it is so gonna be worth it. The looks of the boxset, the cd's and dvd's on it ! Man I feel indeed like a kid again ! And the best part is, I am getting the deluxe boxset from my parents for my birthday and for the fact I got my bachelor-degree ! Whooooo ! I salute you, TS |
So, I read the press release on Greasy Lake about 20 minutes ago, and all I've been able to say since then is Holy Shit. This is AMAZING, and **** it I'm saving up for the super-deluxe Blu-Ray edition.
|
Yes this is just awesome! What a christmas present we're getting even though they're seem to be some new vocals added apparently. We'll have to wait and see how much we'll get of that.
