Tribute Bands - What Do You Think
Ok I asked this over at Backstage a while ago and got a really mixed response, so thought I try it over here. What do you think of Bon Jovi Tribute Bands. I've personally only seen 1. They are called Non Jovi but they really do the guys proud. The guys really put their heart and soul into each and every gig they do. So that got me wondering what other folk thought of Tribute Bands.

I've seen two so far - By Jovi (who were OK) and Bongiovi who were very good. I spoke to their 'Dave' and 'Richie' equivilants afterwards and both where huge Jovi fans which was good.
Nothing is worse than a tribute band who only chose that group because the lead singer happened to look and/or sing like someone famous (I've seen a Queen tribute band who this applied to). Basically - if a tribute band genuinely love the band who they tribute then they are usually worth seeing. I also prefer them when the frontman acts like themself instead of copying Jon word for word. |
Thanks for your input Nige. Like I say Ive only seen one tribute band so far, but hope to see By Jovi when the play Dumfries in October. Ive heard a mixed report about them, but would keep an open mind if I managed to get down to see them.
If your interested you can check out Non Jovi on their website at www.nonjovi.tv |
Kon Chauvi
I have seen Kon Chauvi(the #1)and they really kicked ass. They are also huge BJ fans.We talk and write each other. The guys are very proud of what jon said: "Kon Chauvi?I know them, they cover us note by note, they are f**king good." They have an album called KICK THE FAIT and on the album cover they the feet of the members.Lol.All BJ members have their albums.
If you hear them you colud think it's BJ.The difference is very little. They are not BON JOVI(how could they) but they rock and I respect them for the work they do. http://www.kon-chauvi.de This is their website |
I know Kon Chauvi. I've seen them 2 or 3 times because my friends wanted to go. They're from my area and I think they are doing quite a good job actually but it's only a Tribute band and I'm really not into that. It's like saying "I wanted to buy a motorbike but they were sold out so I bought a bicycle". No. I'd rather listen to my CDs than going to a Tribute band concert.

Hey Linda - as you know I have also seen Non Jovi. Have also seen another Jovi tribute band that played at the Stone Pony club but have forgotten their name ..... !!!!! They were not bad either!! To everyone else, if you were at the Fan Club get together in July, 2001, you will know who I mean!!
