Richie and BB King
I saw this BB King special from 01/09 on PBS last night. It was very cool. BB King played with actor Terrance Howard and then got Richie out for few last songs. I just had this show in the background while cuddling with my lady, but when I overheard BB call out Mr. Sambora to the stage, the girl had to move outta my way and keep quiet! :) BB referred to Richie as "Rickie" and "Rick" few times, it was funny.
Richie was amazing on the guitar, absolutely reinforced my belief that he's the most underrated guitarist in the world, and it also made me think... he needs to get the heck out of Bon Jovi and do his own thing. He'd do better as a touring blues man. At this point he's just wasting his time and his talent, and unless they start pumping out something non-fabricated and non-generic, it will be a shame to see Richie drag himself down. He was absolutely awesome! Some details... http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1784217/5426554/ |
To an extent I agree with you, Richie is very under-rated and I wish his blues stuff would come thorugh into some BJ records. BJ need to release an album where Richie gets back to good solo's.
I would also like to think that on the new BJ album maybe there will be a song with Richie on vocals. |
Yeah, Richie was awesome on this show, i've seen it on YouTube, really really good.
His guitar tone irritated me though, was a little too 'souped up' for the laid-back nature of the material. |

Richie is very under-rated and i wish he would do more guitar solos (blues or not) on more records now. In an interview though, he said he doesn't feel solos are necessary anymore :(
Really do wish he started to do them. |
