You're Not My Lover
"You're Not My Lover (But You Were Last Night)" is a song written by Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and Desmond Child. It was released in 1987 by swedish band Dalton on their album "The Race Is On". In 1988 an american band Witness released their self-titled album which also included the song.
You can easilly hear the music and lyrics were written by Bon Jovi. This is really great. I don't understand why Bon Jovi didn't made it on their own... Here's Dalton version: Could anyone write down the complete lyrics of the song, because I don't understand some moments? Thank you. |
I've got no picture on my wall
Of you and me holding hands I got no ring of proof at all To call to the witness stand Tonight, I might be by myself Tonight, you might find someone else You're not my lover, but you were last night The time for dreamin' 'Cause you're not mine So who's to say if it was wrong or right You're not my lover, but you were last night I got no reason to protest It's give and then you take We both got secrets to protect We both know hearts can break Tonight, I'll have to let you go Tonight, I'm old enough to know You're not my lover, but you were last night The time for dreamin' 'Cause you're not mine So who's to say if it was wrong or right You're not my lover, but you were last night You're not my lover, but you were last night You're not my lover (You're not my lover) When I see you passin' by You're not my lover (You're not my lover) So there's no reason why I should cry You're not my lover, but you were last night The time for dreamin' 'Cause you're not mine So who's to say if it was wrong or right You're not my lover, but you were last night You're not my lover (You're not my lover) You're not my lover (You're not my lover) You're not my lover So there's no reason why I should cry You're not my lover, but you were last night The time for dreamin' 'Cause you're not mine So who's to say if it was wrong or right You're not my lover, but you were last night You're not my lover, but you were last night The time for dreamin' 'Cause you're not mine So who's to say if it was wrong or right You're not my lover, but you were last night |
Thank you very much! :)

This is one of the greatest songs BJ has ever written. They should've included their version of this song and House On Fire in the box set.

Easily the best track on that album!

Such a great song, such a pity we donīt get to hear it performed by Bon Jovi. I love it when they write with Desmond.

Pretty good song. Easily better than quite a lot of the boxset songs, IMO.

This is definitely a cool track but I don't see how it could've ended up on New Jersey, although New Jersey is still a glam metal album it still sounds more "mature" than SWW, Bon Jovi, and 7800 Fahrenheit.
You're Not My Lover could've replaced some tracks on SWW like Without Love, Wild In The Streets if they had written it in 1986. I'm not saying that Without Love and Wild In The Streets are weaker tracks than You're Not My Lover, i'm just saying that You're Not My Love could've been an alternative. Edit: I just found this version IMO it's better than what Dalton did. |
Not a bad song but id need to hear JBJs growly vocals on it to see if it could fit anywhere.
On first play id say it wouldn't sound right on 7800 and not good enough for SWW. Have to say though its a great song title. |
